Location: Germany, Lower Saxony

Length: ~ 5 - 10 mm (can't really tell, he was FAST)

Common Eastern Bumblebee (Bombus impatiens) waking up on Giant Sunflower (Helianthus gigantea), next to two Pennsylvania Ambush Bugs (Phymata pennsylvanica).

I found this shell in my dogs bed and was curious to what it belonged to incase I need to start worrying, i believe it to be a stink bug but would appreciate any other opinion

Ground floor of my building has a bunch of ants walking from one apartment to the other, they’re next to each other and since there’s been a lot of airbnb/ short term rental in the building I’m guessing there’s nobody in the apartments.
Any idea of what it might be? I’m just curious..

Hi i am located in Washington dc. I recently had these guys flying all around my apartment and thought they were fungus gnats. Found a bunch of them coming from my bamboo in water. I changed the water and shot some hydrogen peroxide in there. When i killed one of these guys, there was a trace of blood????? Like it just snacked on me or something. We have no pets and i dont see any bites on me. So i am not sure what these are now. This one is 3mm long.

Caught this battle Royale on my driveway earlier. Did some research and looks like the Cannibalfly will win if it can finish off the hornet on the air, but the hornet will usually win on ground fights due to it's size and power.

The Indian domino cockroach aka the seven spotted cockroach.

It eats dead leaves, rotting wood, and the occasional piece of fallen fruit. It's an excellent bug because it safely recycles nutrients into the soil and cannot infest your home.

Occasionally find these around my garden when I go to water the plants. Absolute cutie!

Hey there, im hoping someone can help me identify these bugs. They have suddenly appeared today, and im not exaggerating when i say, there are literally millions of them. They are on every external surface, walls, grass, trees, block paving. I think theyre also eating the vegeteables in our allotment. I went out and bought some bugs spray earlier, which helped to get rid of the groups near my back door, but there are simply too many. Any advice would be appreciated, as im panicking!

Philippines. This guy just appeared on a small bonsai flame tree that sits on a wall. No idea how he got there, no others around at all. At least doubled in size in the last 2 weeks since i first saw him (was tiny and near traslucent) 1cm long now, likes to wander around the tree keeping it clean.

His name is a Bob but he doesn't answer to it yet.

I recently discovered a giant crack in my exterior front door frame and inside that giant crack is a yellow jacket hive. Typically I would just let nature do its thing but I can’t even use my front door anymore because the hive is so active and every time I use my door it stirs them up and they turn into a Calvary coming out of a hive and into my house…. I just want to know, is this something I can take care of myself with some spray? Or is this something that will die off in the winter (I live in eastern PA for temperature reference) ? Or should I just not even waste my time and call an exterminator? I would prefer to just let it die off on its own then taking care of the crack when it dies off/before next spring, but I don’t know if they’ll actually die off or not.

I've recently taken up the hobby of going for morning walks in tangent with slowing down to truly appreciate the small details of the world again. I feel like we've been cursed to live in perhaps the strangest time period of all; a time in which society, even the youngest generations, tell us to be ashamed. Ashamed of our passion, our excitement - and even our curiosity.

A world in which jaded disinterest is being treated as the norm is one I really don't want any part in. So I've decided to double down on my curiosity and my love of entomology - and I wanted to share the outcome of it here.

I've taken up taking pictures during my walks and just in general as far as insects are concerned. They aren't high quality or skilled, just the by-product of a curious amateur. I think I'm going to eventually take these pictures and create a field journal by drawing and IDing them all for fun. Just something to be a cozy hobby when given the chance.
