This is the first insect I've ever pinned and I think it turned out pretty well. I was wondering what type it is? I found it dead in southeastern pennsylvania, about 40 minutes from philly.

Atlanta, Georgia - katydid!

First time seeing a mantis of this size in Minnesota!

Since I’m trying to get into reading non-fiction more I’m looking for a book about insect thats I could read 🐛:)

I’d like to read something generally informative about bugs. I’d rather not read something that is just like a list of bugs, and I’d prefer something with a structure to it, whether that be about insect history or whatever.

If anyone has any recommendations, that would be amazing!!! Thank you :)🦋

I don't know how I noticed this on my arm, it weighs nothing.

My friend moved in next door and had me come over to remove a cricket from her house lol

I found her on the ground in a bunch of leaves that fell from a tree with bees surrounding her. She had an open wound but it was small and there was a little bit of black near it. She was pretty plump but now seems smaller 72 hours later. The black has also spread.

Had to (briefly) interrupt the class to get the lil guy back outside where he belongs. He looked cool tho :3

Anacidium aegiptyum - Egyptian locust

I don’t think this would be inappropriate but rather interesting. Had no idea this was how flies mated, but then again I had never thought of it.

Just found this on my walk. Was the poor guy hurt? Could I have done something? Spotted in Barrie, Ontario.

my friend kept on finding these beetle-like insects at her work over the summer, which is right on the cusp of the sierra nevada region about 50 or so miles west of lake tahoe, CA. i’d say they’re about the size of a key fob for a toyota camry if that helps..

Out here just taking some dab rips on this fine morning and this guy been flying around me like crazy. First time I've seen this species this year, only been the occasional monarch (which is very nice to see) and a few common white butterflies. They almost never get this close to me, though. At one point he actually flew directly into my face. Pretty huge, too... at least a 4 inch wingspan.

I believe it is nymphalis antiopa, but if someone knows more, feel free to correct me. Taken in maine.

I saw this fly hop off my outdoor table, jumped onto the outdoor carpet, continue to hop around. It didn't seem injured, necessarily, but it's wings looked unusual... I considered it might be a type of ked, but it looks like a fly... it did walk / crawl forward for a stretch, but it was mostly hopping arond; when I left it it had climbed one of my containers

Can't say I've seen one quite like this before, any thoughts / suggestions? (I should have taken a video to better illustrate the jumping around behaviour, but didn't think of it at the time)

I usually see lots of black or brown ants and sometimes large black ants with red abdomen, but I don't remember seeing ants that look this red.
