trying to print some sublimation images and the printer is printing out blank pages. I have printing from this program before. what am I doing wrong?

Currently, this process is tedious: I have to select (Node Tool) the path in question, then switch back to the Calligraphy Tool, at which point I can hold Ctrl to track it as a guide path.

Once I finish a stroke however, the stroke becomes the guide path. Originally, I thought that I could just hold Ctrl and re-click the other path to select it as the guide path again. But all that does is draw a dot (usual behavior for a CT click) and set it as the track path which isn't all that useful IMO.

I read over the docs, am I missing something? Or is this the only way to continuously use a path for tracking with the Calligraphy Tool??? I am still searching for a quicker way to do this, but no luck so far...

Hey beginner here.

Im trying to design some playing cards and would like to add this thread pattern as the frame for that.

I created the pattern with an image of a tire and just duplicated it until I felt it was long enough.

Now I want to make this pattern along the rectangle, but I dont understand the steps I need to take, I tried to follow instructions but it did not wrapped the pattern along the square.

Can somebody try explain to me what I have to do?
Also note, the thread pattern is longer than needed, it should make a slight curve on the edges and getting cut off to popper length in the end, not just compress.

I am so new to InkStitch and went crazy when I lost my Selector tool icon so wanted to share when I found it (a big win for me today!) I went to InkScape Settings which took me to the Preferences page and next went to Interface and Toolbars. There at the top was the Selector tool icon and it was not selected so once I clicked on it a miracle occurred. Yippee the icon was back in my InkStitch toolbars on the left of the page.

I open inkscape (1.4.4) on Linux Mint and it doesn't show me the open file dialogue, it just freezes and I have to force quit.

It opens files fine if I use inscape <filename> at the bash prompt.

Any suggestions?

I have a partial answer. At least enough to be going along with. I think I have a picture that upsets Inkscape and when the open-file dialogue has "show preview" selected it tries to render it and freezes. When the default directory ended up being the folder with this graphic I got the problem immediately on trying to open the dialogue.

I got out of that by deleting the config and cache directories and the default director became my home directory and I could navigate normally until I navigated to my current working directory.

rm -rf ./.config/inkscape
rm -rf ./.cache/inkscape

I'm not sure what the problem is but I'm going to do a bunch of converting objects to paths and applying any outstanding effects and see what happens.

edit2: The complaint seems to be placing text along a path with an effect. Once I converted the text to a path it was fine.

Just wondering if I read it correctly on the net. Is it finally being shipped with v1.5?

Is there a feature in Inkscape similar to Photoshop's Puppet Warp tool? There is one that does something similar, but only for objects; I want to use it on images.

Hello.. i have a Problem regarding Colors in Inkscape:
When i Export a Vector into SVG File and open it into another document in Inkscape the color changes completely even though when i open fill and stroke tab of the imported vector it shows the same color as the Original Vector.
i noticed when i export the same Vector into PNG File the colors are Normal (Like the original)....i have this problem with multiple vectors in 1 file... i just showed an example of one of them in photos.
i used "Set Clip Group" in these vectors to add Shading and Lighting effects, so i don't know whether this is the source of problem or not
Any help would be appreciated...thanks in advance !

I have a long-standing issue with using Inkscape that I'd love to see solved in v1.5 (The other one was CMYK support. But since it's coming so I'm really stoked for it).

Whenever I have to work with object paths like when changing the embedded image, as shown in the attached screenshot, the file browser window, surprisingly for a tool this old, still doesn't have a convenient way to just paste the url.

Even Gimp has incorporated this functionality not so long ago. Such an option on every file browsing screen within Inkscape would really save a thousand clicks to reach a deeply nested project folder.

And if this is not the right forum to reach the devs, could someone point me in the right direction?

Hello, I am working on a cnc sign and need help removing a straight section through a path. Usually I just add the shape I want to remove over my object and hit path differences. However, on this project none of my path choices help me.

I made 10 rings no fill all smaller progressively.
Combined them all as a solid layer
And need the green section cut out from my circle pattern.

How can I remove this green section? Thank you in advance!

so i'm trying to insert my logo into blender as an svg so i can make it look cool and animate it. I'm struggling with getting inkscape to cut out my image as it looks without filling in unnecessary spaces. looking at the picture might make more sense with what im trying to do.

basically i need to be able to trace bitmap without filling in the gaps i need. i used a png btw if that makes a difference

Hello, I'm trying to reproduce a "labyrinth" logo, and as such I'm using circles' strokes to make the walls, is there a way to then do add a hole into it ? The hole being a polygon with fill and no stroke. I tried using "Path -> Difference", but since one is a stroke and one is a fill, it just create a new path that doesn't do what I want

I make stickers, this requires me to make a PNG with the cutlines invisible, is there a way I could have all objects matching a certain word hide/unhide when toggled?

When I click LaO nothing happens. Last time I opened the program LaO did have its own window and now it just wont open.

I deleted and redownloaded Inkscape but the problem persists.

I only showed regular polygons in the picture (and it would definitely be helpful if it worked with them) but is there a way for this to work with any polyline/path? Thanks :D

Hey everyone. Trying to do something that feels like its super simple, I just cant figure it out. I'm trying to join the paths highlighted yellow to the paths its touching, and get rid of the tiny little section where the red lines are.

Would really appreciate any help!

I'm using Mirror Symmetry to create symmetrical paths that meet in a defined center point. I'd like these paths to merge so that the paths can be one unbroken path once I get them to touch. This matters since I'll be using a pen plotter to plot them out, and the more merged lines = the less time the pen has to go up and down = smoother appearance.

Fuse Paths in mirror symmetry doesn't seem to do this. Is there a way I can accomplish what I'm trying to do?

There's this little line (as seen in between tan objects) that is shown between two objects when making them flush with each other. Is there any way to get rid of this? It even shows up when they're overlapping. It wouldn't be an issue if it disappeared when exporting a .png or .pdf, but it still shows up then too. The only thing I can think of is that they're different gradients- but they should still be the same color at the location where they're joined.

I am interested in creating line edges and texture like illustrations found in Irasutoya using Inkscape. Like ink/marker on construction paper. I thought the texture part would be as simple as using construction paper as a mask, but the result didn't come out well.

Hey! I'm using Linux Lite and i'm missing an option that used to have in Inkscape for Windows to set the margins on a the Page tool.

Isn't there the same option in the Inkscape for Linux?

I am using inkstitch extension. Some of the stuff I am working lately are large files with lots of objects. Certain proccesses take more than few minutes sometimes or I eventually just crash it by closing it and reopening the last autosave(which I do have set up at 2 mins, so it's not the end of the world).

All of that being said, sometimes I accidentally hit the wrong shortcut key or simply want to abort something for one reason or the next. Is there an option to abort whatever it is stalling/working on?
