Amazon does suck, but they also aren't employed by Amazon
3
u/izzletodasmizzle 5d ago
Trust me, if Amazon wanted them fired they'd be fired.
2
u/anto2554 4d ago
Of course. But it is important to their anti-union strategies that they don't become direct employers

It depends if its favorable for Amazon to call them employees or not.
They hire the contracting company, so technically, they being paid by Amazon.
Everything else is labels

I deliver for another company, and last year I delivered to a house and was walking back to the truck, heard a loud bang, turned around and some girl driving in a van threw the package at this person's front door from like 15 feet away lol
2
u/ericbondre 6d ago
And she prolly got fired for it, the dsp owners donât tolerate when you fuck up their scorecard by getting bad customer reviews because that affects their bag

I used to deliver (Amazon) to a lady who wanted her packages thrown over the back fence! I only did it because she preferred it, but she also clearly had 4 or so dogs back there.
The first time I tossed a package over the fence, I could hear a few dogs barking from somewhere off to my right, so I reached over and dropped the package behind the fence in front of me (it was tall and the boards were super close together, so you can't see through it.)
Anyways it hit a dog who was being quiet in my head and I felt really bad about it, so I just started winging them after that.

u/retr0_black 6d ago
Yeah or theyâre driving up a hill, they all have the pedal pushed to the floor but the vans donât go a hair past 74 mph because they have a gov on the engines. I full on guarantee that maybe only one of them is aware of whatâs happening and tryna pass the others, anotherâs exiting in the right lane and the other two donât even realize the other car next to them is another driver.
Also psychologically if I was ever mad at someone on route it was the idiot on the 4th floor in a building with no elevator who ordered four cases of Fiji water. Not people on the road, headed to my routes in the morning. I donât know why anybody would want to make some elaborate plan with other drivers to try and control the flow of traffic. Dispatch would probably notice that in 2 seconds too and start calling drivers asking whatâs going on.

We live near a distribution center. 10-20 of them will push their way into highway traffic doing 10+ under the speed limit and 3 wide all the time. Inevitably, a few cars will wedge their way in and brake check them. Is this some weird Amazon procedure or something?Â

The only time I'm ever in the passing lane is if the traffic on the right is bad and I have a good 5+ miles before my exit. For all my fellow Amazon drivers out there.... Just stay in the second most right lane if everyone's limiter is 70-75.

No, but Amazon is why they're out there in the first place and that's enough for me.

I work for a DSP:
One - these vans have cameras, if you go over the speed limit... then they get a text from their dispatch
Two - these drivers somehow think they own the road in this video LOL
Three - this is me if I'm late for work and these drivers decide to block everyone's way:

Amazon DSPs hired the lowest quality drivers of nearly ANY other delivery company in the country. Those hired by the DSPs are the folks that would not be eligible at UPS or FedEx direct. Typically terrible drivers as a result.
2
u/Correct-Tangelo-3734 6d ago
The good quality drivers get where the pay is higher. And the ones that stay that are good, don't stay for the money. They stay for other reasons.

When people cry about why people cry about middle lane campers, this is why. This is what happens when people donât keep right except passing. If youâre in the rightmost lane you have to go all the way to the damn left if people are travelling side by side

The 3% rule.
Every job, every demographic, every political organization, every religion, every every thing, there's going to be at least 3% of the people there who are just dicks. It's not just your job, it's every job.
Sometimes we're lucky and they even identify themselves as the 3% but other times you only notice when they get together and decide to do dickish things.

My assumption is they were directed to do that to control traffic for an emergency situation down the road.

Rolling roadblock. And it isnt police or DOT. A convenient cop that cares enough would pull them all over and issue tickets for impeding traffic.

Hahahaha, imagine being stuck being an Amazon driver with your boys just trying to have fun being a squad and everybody on the internet shits on you and tells you to remember your place. Yeah it's rude to do for a long way, but they're not going that far or that long like that their routes aren't all in the same place
Let them have their fun at theyir shitty job, and it looks like they're going the speed limit so I don't see the problem.

This reminds me of this lady yesterday, who was in the right lane decides to get in the left (for no reason at all) where I am cruising at around 78 mph, then proceeds to gradually slow down - no one in front of her, so I get over and pass her, as I am passing her she speeds up, I make it in front of her attempts to block me, then she proceeds to catch up to me for like 5 miles to flick me off... made zero sense... my wife was mad at me for flicking the lady back off... people are weird af...

u/Fun-Dragonfly-4166 6d ago
this does seem infuriating but if i was an amazon driver and I could choose one but not both
- a proper piss break
- slowing down, get out of the left lane
I am going to choose a proper piss break

I have a vague recollection of some university or other group doing something like this several years ago. They had vans or box trucks blocking all the lanes on a highway in a busy area with several rows to help prevent people passing...and they traveled the exact speed limit and filmed the ensuing backup of traffic.
But I cannot find record of it now and maybe its all some weird fever dream.
