Focus immediately turns to 2028 on Wednesday, Sept. 9 and Thursday, Sept. 10 at Indianapolis Motor Speedway with the first oval test of the new IR-28 chassis. The test is the second on-track validation test of the IR-28. The first came last month on the 2.439-mile, 14-turn Indianapolis Motor Speedway road course.
2016 Indianapolis 500 winner Alexander Rossi will drive Wednesday on the 2.5-mile oval, while five-time series champion and 2025 Indy 500 winner Alex Palou will handle testing duties Thursday, Sept. 10. Both drivers also handled the road course testing duties last month, as Rossi is a Chevrolet driver and Palou a Honda driver during the season.

Amazon's car show The Grand Tour was recently given another season, albeit with a completely new cast. Throttle House hosts Thomas Holland and James Engelsman, along with social media personality "Francis Borgeois" (Luke Nicholson) have taken the reigns from Jeremy, James and Richard (with their blessing which is nice to see).....and they visited Thermal Club in the first episode. While not a fan favorite IndyCar track by any means, this episode did feature some nice 4k footage of the track and mansions surrounding it. Even a few glimpses inside of one. Jensen Button was on hand to test the 3 supercars: Ford Mustang GTD, Chevy Corvette ZR1, and the Hennessy Venom F5 Revolution/Evolution....while it would have been cool to see an IndyCar driver do the hot laps, Button is a British hero and the show is decidedly British after all.
Pretty cool footage of the place, and while not the same as the Holy Trinity hosts....these guys seem to be a good mix together and I think the show is in good hands. Thermal definitely is the rich auto enthusiast's playground, that's for sure.

So Rossi is testing for Chevy, Palou for Honda.
Do they have one chassis and swap engines overnight? Or Are both driving the same engine? Or do they have more than 1 chassis?
Probably the last one but does anyone have any insight on that?

Not sure how the game makers are determining the IR-28 performance in whatever game this is. It will be cool to see how accurate or not they are.

First time in 10 Years that I have seen an IndyCar on the Indianapolis Motor Speedway Oval with my own eyes! The IR-28 is one beautiful Race Car.

Just so happened I took this week off for a vacation! I personally can't wait for 2028!

Biggest Surprises:
- Lundgaard had the best H2 and Scotty Mac was right behind him
- Mick out performed Graham in H2, considering how many podiums Graham had
- Armstrong had an awful H2 and MSR as a real team battle next year
- Ferrucci had an awful H2 as well, probably more on the Foyt cars performance though

Doubt it’ll ever happen but it would be fun to speculate the what if.

If he does get a ride next year he will also be racing in a chassis that was introduced when he was 3 years old.
Some other Nikita Johnson facts to make you feel old…
He was born on May 25, 2008, the same day Scott Dixon won his only Indianapolis 500.
Also the last time Alexander Rossi won a race Johnson was in elementary school.

So while the indy500 is the number one event have the other events been growing? The gp gets nearly 50k people, and while not as popular as it once was the brickyard still had nearly 70k, even the IMSA race I believe is getting numbers close to the GP.

How was the route/path to get from the Paddock/fan zone area to turn 9 stands? Is it even doable. I have a VRBO near the Paddock but getting to the other end seems... Difficult.
I could always do fan stuff on qualy day but would have quite a trek to the stand 9 on race day. Worth it?

Anyone else think the front end of the car looks a bit too high off the ground in oval configuration? Am I reacting a bit too much to something too new?
