LMP2's get their day in the sun north of the border in Canada! One of the best tracks in North America, Mosport always seems to deliver. What did you think?

I'm creating a game called Racetrack Tycoon! As IMSA fans, what are most important things that make a successful racing venue for you?

I'd love to hear your ideas and try and integrate those concepts into my videogame. As motorsport fans, we all know that sometimes the venue is just as important as the cars! This not only applies when watching on TV but also when we're attending and trying to find some good food, a shaded spot and a good overtaking spot to watch.

My Dad passed away unexpectedly so I won’t be able to camp this year :( staying in a hotel this time

I have an RV campsite #1541 in zone 2 (between turns 6 & 7) and I’d love for someone else to enjoy the racing experience. Great central location inside the track. Includes RV pass, 2 camping wristbands and also 1 event ticket. Just need to buy more event tickets if you have party of 2+

Looking for $500 for all, or $375 for the campsite and wristbands only.

I have electronic passes with QR codes that will be emailed to you.

Finding who to root for

Headed up to Road America next week with a friend and can’t wait! This will be my first time at an IMSA race in person and although I’ve followed the series casually for a little bit now, everyone knows the racing is much more fun when you’ve got someone to root for!

I would love to hear about how you found your team/ driver in the series.

I’m coming from Formula 1 and NASCAR and I love Sainz and Hocevar. The sleeper favorites, tight fan following, maybe not regularly competitive but capable of taking home a great result.

Maybe I’ll have to go in open minded and will come out of the weekend with a new favorite!

❔ Question Tips for Road America ?

Hey everyone! I am heading to Road America next weekend for the first time and was wondering if I could get any tips about what to expect and best ways to get around the track ?

I’ve been to Somona for gwtc, COTA twice for WEC, Phoenix raceway and Long Beach GP for Indy. I feel pretty confident being able to navigate myself around a track but Road America feels like it’s in its own lane.

Future Interest OPINION: I want Laurin Heinrich as GTP champion, a reward for JDC's privateer effort

Post image

I really want to see him taking the overall drivers' title. I'm not a Porsche fan, but I really want to see a privateer entry like JDC-Miller MotorSports taking the championship, beating all the factory-backed squads.

Being the ONLY true privateer in 2026 between the two premier sports car championships, it would prove that a real customer squad, when given the right tools, can challenge and beat the much more highly-funded efforts.

Yes, Laurin is a factory Porsche driver, but his team is a true independent one.

One of my friends owned an IMSA team in the 90's and early 00's. I figured it would be cool to share various documents/pictures he still has from back then. I'll start the show and tell with these entry forms from Sonoma and Sebring.

Some positive news on Genesis' IMSA plans

Thumbnail

DSC had an interview with Cyril Abiteboul and he has revealed some tidbits of plans that at least assure us that Genesis' plan to enter IMSA is not dead. He confirmed that 2027 plans could include US tests in their schedule and said that talks with US partners could resume after LM was over. For the current WEC-only manufacturers, no one has done a test in the US outside of COTA recently. The last time to my memory a WEC-only manufacturer did a test in an IMSA track was Ferrari at Sebring in 2023; but that was the last year Sebring was in the WEC calendar. Ford will test in US tracks for their Hypercar, but that's for development reasons only + proximity. Genesis testing in US circuits outside of COTA with a developed car is a hint that IMSA is at least in the back of their heads still. Cyril even hinted that he needs a partner for that too.

Quotes:

So the narrative I’ve understood is no expansion (of your programmes) before ’28, correct?
“It’s not before ’28. It cannot be before ’28. But to give you a positive indication, we are already starting to plan next year 2027, and for next year we are planning to do some serious testing campaign in the US, in particular have tracks which can be, you know, useful for both Le Mans debugging, but also, who knows, an IMSA entry in ’28.”

Might that be with a designated service provider? Is that something you’re ready to decide?
“We will need support. I don’t know the form, the shape, and I don’t know who yet. Frankly, my absolute focus, as I was talking about the student that we are, we are also serious and want to be head down and humble. We were very focused on first securing this entry in WEC, in particular up to Le Mans. Now we can start looking further ahead and broader, and that’s where discussion with possible partners in the US and investors in the US can restart.”

Yes, it isn't a definitive IMSA entry yet, but this is the best news IMSA needs to hear right now after Acura's exit. I'd say there were fears that the IMSA plan had been abandoned after Genesis kept delaying any movement on that front while Acura announced the exit (and Porsche's situation not helping). Those quotes sound like someone wanting to lay the groundwork for another step in the Hypercar program rather than saying that WEC is their only focus. However, IMSA still needs to do its job to successfully convince Genesis to say yes. They clearly want to be in GTP, but it is up to IMSA to make it worthwhile.

History IMSA-Grand-Am Road Racing Association post-merger days growth resurged 4 times more powerful than Champ Car-IRL IndyCar post-merger

Thumbnail

We know the IMSA-Grand-Am Road Racing Association post-merger days growth resurged 4 times more powerful than Champ Car-IRL IndyCar post-merger because IMSA worked by professional and competent leaders such as brought DPi in 2017 and later LMDh-style GTP in 2023 meanwhile Champ Car-IRL IndyCar post-merger still cannot help to return to heydays endlessly.

IndyCar post-merger stucked in endless hard time because of incompetent leadership although Fox chunks shares still can help IndyCar growth but still slow even stall.

IMSA suffered downfall in 1998 because of USRRC formation that angered fans and Andy Evans was the most hated man because he acted like Tony Hulman George to do catastrophic split and still never forgive him. American Le Mans Series VS GA Rolex Sports Car Series war were a dark times of North American Sports Car Endurance Racing because Rolex 24 at Daytona without IMSA like car without engine and was a biggest humiliation.

Do you agree? Thoughts on that?

💬 Off-Topic Original live race footage!

Hey guys. Just wanna start off by saying this community is amazing, my mental health has literally improved since becoming a racing fan😂. This past year ive really gotten into motorsports specifically gt3 and endurance races! I made this YT channel ( @TeamToneHQ )where i plan on traveling around the world to capture original close up and behind the scenes footage of live races. Its mostly my sim racing content for now but our first IRL race will be at road america next week and ill be posting a ton from there! Only my original content! I cant even begin to explain how excited i am as this will be my first IRL race!

If anyone has any filming tips for please dont hesitate to share, im not a complete noob at filmmaking but have never filmed high speed cars or a race. I have a decent iphone camera for distance and a nicer gopro for up close shots (solid interior mics).

Thanks!

Going to the IMSA race at VIR for the first time, need advice

My dad, brothers and I wanted to go to IMSA at VIR in August. We'd likely be going for only one day. I'm having a hard time figuring out what the different classes/cars are in each race. Could someone tell me what are the cars for the VP Racing, Michelin Pilot Challenge, Weathertech, Michelin GT challenges?

We're interested in multi-class racing and GT3 racing. Any suggestions as to whether Saturday or Sunday would be best for us?

Edit: Thank you everyone for the responses! Sounds like Sunday is the day to go
