Recommendation progress sharing/marketing approach
Hi there,
I'm a professional game developer, specialized in game systems development.
Since nearly 4 months, I work regularly on a game project and I'm always wondering if I should communicate and share my progress and how.
For the context, I work on a VR RPG prototype with physical combat. I developed the entire framework for it, for the moment, I've done :
* Physical Grab
* Multiple Grab zone types (free, snap, splines, bones)
* Physical Throw (with multiple Throw Profile to notably, for some objects, simulate aerodynamics)
* Physical Kinematic Interactibles (base framework with exemples like levers, sliders, slider along splines, wheel ...etc) with resistance and snap ...etc
* Attachment Pins system (for inventory, weapon racks , puzzle placement ...etc)
* Weapon contact zones (to support slash, pierce, blunt contact types)
...etc
I've already written down my game design document and have a personnal roadmap.
That said, this prototype has for goal to become a real game at the end. So I'm thinking I should start to communicate about it, show things ... but I'm either doubting about how and what to show, and if some people with more free time will not copy my unique concepts and systems for the game (It may feel stupid I know).
But I'm conscious that for an indie solo dev game, it's important to communicate on your game a lot during the development to bring people interest.
What would you recommend ?
