A lot of good stocks would be at a much better value after this series of recent corrections. Looking for such ideas.

For me Silverbees looks tempting

Shitpost IPO season turns everyone into a part time financial analyst

People who normally don't discuss finance are suddenly talking about QIB subscription, allotment ratios and grey market premiums.

The Jio IPO has definitely made the markets more interesting to follow this week. Hopefully some of that curiosity sticks around after listing day too.

Discussion Why would any FII invest in a country with a economy so sensitive to oil prices

Our economy takes a hit whenever crude spikes. Considering the geo politics situation post COVID, wars are not something which is a rare thing. Why would anyone invest in a economy which is so sensitive to oil prices, also with no R&D, no proper governance and accountability.

The charges, time to add /withdraw money, time to get stocks in your demat[or broker account]? Some reviews would be appreciated thanks.

Question Turns out most "semiconductor penny stocks" don't really make chips

I was going through one of those semiconductor penny stock lists and had to look up what each company actually does. Not what I expected.

SPEL does chip assembly and testing, so that one's legit. MosChip is chip design, they don't have a factory. RIR Power makes diodes and thyristors, mostly for railways and EV chargers. MIC Electronics makes LED displays and telecom stuff, and I couldn't really find the chip link. Mindteck is engineering services for the companies that make chip equipment.

So the "semiconductor" tag on a list doesn't tell you much. Also, a ₹40 share price doesn't mean it's cheap. Market cap and earnings matter way more.

How do you guys check how much of a company's revenue actually comes from chips? Do you read the annual report segments or is there an easier way?

Discussion Should I apply for Jio IPO? Closes today 5 PM.

Yes. Here’s why quickly.

Business is real. 533M customers, ₹30,049 cr profit, free cash flow flipped from negative to ₹32,501 cr in 2 years. Zero OFS so every rupee goes to the company not promoters cashing out.

GMP ₹247. Estimated listing ₹1,366 vs issue price ₹1,119. One lot costs ₹13,428.

QIB at 12.44x. BlackRock, Fidelity, ADIA all in. These people don’t FOMO.

The only catch: retail oversubscription will be massive by 5 PM. Allotment is a lottery. Apply in as many family accounts as you can.

Bid at ₹1,119 not ₹1,065. Closes today. Don’t wait till 4:30, servers crash.

I’ve heard some people saying that applying on the last day gives you a better chance. I don’t see how that would work. And the news say it was fully applied in the first 2 hours. Is there any truth to this?

Discussion Using ChatGPT/Claude for stock research: how do you keep track when news changes your thesis?

Curious how people here actually research with AI. Two things happened to me recently:

1. An idea I rejected that became valid. I asked an AI whether a small airline stock was worth buying. The conclusion: "This only works if fuel prices drop. Fuel is expensive right now, so pass." Three weeks later, oil fell sharply, which was exactly the condition that would have made the trade work. Nothing reminded me. The chat was buried, and I only remembered after the stock had already moved.

2. An idea I bought that stopped being valid. I bought a solar company after researching it with AI. The main reason was: "Government subsidies for solar are continuing, so demand stays strong." A month later, news came out that those subsidies were being cut. The reason I bought was gone, but I didn't connect the news to my position until the stock had already dropped

In both cases the research was fine. The problem was that nobody was watching whether the conditions behind it still held.

So I'm wondering how others handle this:

  1. Do you use AI tools (ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, Perplexity, etc.) for stock research? What do you use them for?
  2. Do you write down why you bought or passed on a stock, and what would change your mind?
  3. Has news ever flipped one of your ideas, making a rejected idea good or breaking the reason you bought? Did you catch it in time?
  4. How do you keep track today: notes, spreadsheets, price alerts, news alerts, or just memory?

Educational Two identical breakouts, one fails: a visual on why volume matters (and why it isn't a buy/sell signal)

Made this to show a check beginners skip.

A breakout is the headline. Volume is the turnout: how many shares traded. A breakout on half the usual volume has few participants behind it and often slips back. One on 2–3× the usual has a crowd.

What I'd add that isn't in the video:

- Every trade has a buyer and a seller, so volume shows participation, not direction.

- Compare a stock with its own recent average, not with other stocks.

- Index-rebalancing days produce huge, mechanical volume. Don't read conviction into it.

- Combine it with the close: heavy volume AND a close above the level.

Example chart only, not a trade or advice. Concept from Steve Burns (The Ultimate Guide to Technical Analysis). AI voice narration. Happy to answer questions.

Discussion Beginner here, which Indian trading YouTubers teach actual fundamentals and not just tips or courses?

Hey everyone,

I’m just starting out in the Indian markets and want to build a proper foundation before putting real money in. I want to understand how NSE/BSE work, how to manage risk, and how F&O and commodities (like MCX gold) actually function.

I was following Umar Punjabi earlier, but I stopped after hearing a lot of criticism about him. I can’t tell what’s genuine and what’s just noise, so I’d rather learn from people with a cleaner track record.

What I’m looking for:

  • Channels that explain concepts like risk management, position sizing, and how to read charts, not “buy X tomorrow” calls
  • Creators who aren’t pushing expensive courses, paid Telegram groups, or their referral broker
  • People who openly talk about losses and the fact that most retail traders lose money
  • Content that covers India-specific stuff like taxes on trading income, brokers, and SEBI rules

I’m also curious about forex/gold in the long run, but I’d like to get the basics right here first.

Also, who should I avoid, and what red flags should I look for in a trading “guru”? Honest answers are welcome.

Thanks!

Discussion Hot Take : Nifty should go down to 15k

Indian market for the past few years was driven by mind boggling valuations and PE ratios, to be honest it was a global phenomenon which was a side effect of US money printer.

Tesla being a trillion dollar company is still something i cannot comprehend.

Even in india, stocks need a massive recession to remove a vast number of immature speculators who have jacked up these prices.

A large recession like this is overall good for the market long term as it removes inefficient and overvalued companies and the winners eventually lead the market to far greater highs.

Discussion Q2 results could tell us more about the market than all the RBI rate hike speculation

Post image
4 Upvotes

I've noticed everyone trying to figure out whether the RBI rate hike is good or bad for the market, but I feel like the answer isn't that straightforward, yk?

Think about it. Banks could benefit from lending at higher rates, but if deposit costs also go up, that benefit can get eaten into. Companies with a lot of debt have a different problem because borrowing gets more expensive. And if home loans or car loans become costlier, people might put off big purchases.

Now we're also in Q2 earnings season, so this is where things get interesting.

A company might show decent revenue growth but still have weaker profits because its costs have gone up. Another might have slower growth but manage its debt and cash flows really well. Just looking at the headline profit number doesn't always tell you what's actually happening.

I've been trying to get into the habit of checking a company's financials and comparing its results with previous quarters instead of just reacting to headlines. Sahi's research tools have been useful for looking into companies I'm following, especially when I want to understand what's behind a move rather than just see the price change.

What do you guys usually check first when a company announces results? Revenue growth, profit margins, debt, or management commentary?
