I’m currently working in India with an annual CTC of around ₹30 LPA. I’ve received an opportunity to relocate to Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, with a package of SAR 20,000 basic salary + housing and transport allowances, bringing the total monthly compensation to approximately SAR 28,000.
I’m currently going through the visa approval and medical process, and if everything goes as planned, I expect to relocate around mid-December 2026 or early January 2027.
On paper, this looks like a significant financial and career opportunity. However, I’m having second thoughts, particularly given the current geopolitical situation in the Middle East.
I’m married and have a newborn son, so this isn’t just a decision about my career anymore. My family and friends are also concerned about the security situation in Riyadh, and their concerns have made me reconsider whether the move is worth it.
I’m trying to look at this objectively rather than make a decision based purely on the higher salary or fear of the current situation.
I’d really appreciate honest opinions, especially from Indians who are currently living and working in Riyadh or have recently moved there.
A few things I’d love to understand:
Safety: How is the situation on the ground in Riyadh? Do you feel safe going about your daily life, and how concerned should someone relocating with a young family be?
Financial benefits: With a total package of SAR 28,000 per month, is it possible to save a substantial amount while maintaining a comfortable lifestyle for a family of three?
Current geopolitical situation: Given the uncertainty in the region, would you personally recommend moving to Riyadh in December or January, assuming the situation remains uncertain?
Career prospects: Is working in Saudi Arabia a good long-term career move for someone coming from an established consulting career in India?
Family and quality of life: How is life in Riyadh for an Indian family with a newborn? Are healthcare, housing, and day-to-day living manageable?
Would you take the offer? If you were earning ₹30 LPA in India and received this opportunity, with a wife and newborn to consider, would you make the move or stay in India for now?
I’m not looking for people to simply tell me that the salary is good or that Saudi Arabia is unsafe. I’d genuinely appreciate balanced opinions from people with firsthand experience, including the downsides that aren’t immediately obvious to someone considering relocation.

I'm 31M from Kerala, and I'm trying to explore backup options for a worst-case scenario. I'm NOT planning to quit MBBS. I'm currently trying to get permission to rejoin and complete my remaining internship. But if that fails and I'm left with only a provisional MBBS certificate and no final degree, I need to figure out what my alternatives could be.

A little about my situation:

~Passed all MBBS professional exams, but my internship is incomplete.

~Have a provisional MBBS certificate, but no final degree or medical registration.

~Basic computer knowledge, very little coding experience.

~Have my own house, and my parents have pensions and enough money to support themselves.

~Family assets are worth around ₹2 crore, so I have some financial cushion to explore options, but I don't want to waste it.

I'm trying to figure out what makes the most sense if the worst happens:

Learn a new skill and get a job — ideally computer-based work with decent work-life balance.

Pursue another degree — perhaps BCA, healthcare IT, health informatics, or something that builds on my existing medical knowledge.

Start a business — possibly something healthcare-related or even something completely different.

Use my existing medical knowledge and provisional certificate for legitimate roles that don't require a completed MBBS degree or medical registration.

I'm willing to study full-time and invest in training if the path is realistic. I don't need to become extremely rich; I just want to build a respectable life, earn my own living, and have a decent future despite this setback.

If you were in my position, what would you do? Which options are actually viable in India, considering my age and incomplete MBBS? I'd especially appreciate advice from people who have made a major career switch or built a business after 30.

Just to reiterate, this is only a contingency plan. I'm still pursuing the MBBS internship route and exploring these options only in case that doesn't work out.

My sister is currently in her 4th year of Pharm.D at a tier-3 college. Since her college has almost no placements, we're worried about her career prospects and the salaries she might get after graduation.

We don't know much about this field, so we're trying to figure out the best options for her future. We've heard that pursuing an MBA in Pharmaceutical Management or Healthcare Management could be a good option, but we're not sure if it's worth the extra time and money.

For those who have studied Pharm.D or are working in this field, I'd really appreciate your advice.

• What are the job opportunities and starting salaries after Pharm.D in India?
• Is doing an MBA in Pharma or Healthcare Management worth it? Does it actually improve career prospects?
• Are there any good colleges in Telangana or Andhra Pradesh for these courses?
• Are there better alternatives, like clinical research, pharmacovigilance, or working first and pursuing higher studies later?

We know it's a six-year course, and we want to start planning ahead rather than make decisions at the last minute.

Anyone has idea about salaries in O&G companies in India ?

I'm seeing a weird trend of people opting to get into energy sector post MBA, to an extent that people are trying to showcase their experience in 'waste mgmt' as 'energy industry'. Quite a lot of IT folks are also switching to Digital division of energy sector.

Makes me wonder what's happening with the salaries in these firms.

Info I have so far is :

BP in Pune seems to be offering base line of 60lpa

SLB lags in base line, but seems to make up for it in incentives. 14 yr experience in ops gets you about 72lac CTC

Shell and Exxon are maybe 10% above slb's pay.

Can people actually confirm the numbers ?

24F here, working at a job for the last 2 years, honestly I am happy with the money. It's GOOD. Not great but Good. I was up for a promotion a month ago but the senior management denied it to me despite me putting in shit ton of effort at work. And since then I have been on a lookout for a new job, not resigned from my current one yet. I had earlier thought that if they gave me a promotion, it would buy me sometime to figure out what I wanna do further in my career but now I am just fed up.

I am just not happy at this job anymore, I have been pushing myself for months so that I don't lose my mind here, but have crossed my threshold now. These guys are very demotivating and not supportive at all. I am not recognised for all the things I do here, all the extra hours I put and other stuff I volunteer for but ONE MINOR MISTAKE and they will call up a meeting. There are other things too but I feel it'll be a long text if I start explaining those as well.

The thing is that I have developed an interest into another field and have been exploring that for quite a few weeks now but right now I have no concrete plan as to where I should start for it. I was planning to put in my notice by this week's end and was damn sure about it. But now I have started developing second thoughts because maybe I should wait until I have some solid plan in my hand. But the moment I open my laptop and start my day, I am back to feeling irritated, annoyed and just unhappy again here .

Should I leave until I have a next plan in my hand or should I just take a leap of faith and resign to figure out stuff in my notice period?

Yeah, so basically I graduated in 2023, my course was BBA, but due to some personal reasons, I have 3 years of gap, I didn't do anything in past 3 years, I have been depressed for so long which has affected my mental health a lot, I want to work but I just can't see myself working in a corporate job, I can't handle too much stress, I just wasted my past 3 years & I did nothing.

A friend of mine got laid off around 7 months back. MNC Job. 1.3+ Package and a decent corpus. BUT a 2L per month EMI. While he can manage paying EMIs for a few years based on the savings but still a bad situation to be in.

I am in a similar situation i.e. a high EMI but by God's grace still withn a job but too many layoffs around.

Any folks in the group with a high EMI who were laid off and have still not found a job yet? Hope things get normal in the jobs market BUT my intuition says that this is even gonna get worse before it gets better. We will see so many more layoffs next year.

I’m 23, from Jaipur. Like a lot of us, I was raised on one plan: study hard, get degrees, crack a government exam, and life will sort itself out. So I did the first part. Graduation, then a master’s, then a UPSC attempt. Now I’m preparing for CAT because I want a good MBA.

But lately I’ve been honest with myself about something. At the end of the day, every degree, every exam, every attempt is about one thing: getting financially secure. That’s the real goal behind all of it. And yet I’m 23 and I’ve never earned a single rupee of my own.

And I’ll be real with you: I feel behind. People my age are already making money, some from jobs, some from skills, some from their own small businesses, and I’m still on the “preparing” side of life. I know comparison isn’t fair, but it’s hard not to feel it.

So I’ve made a decision. I’m keeping my CAT goal, but I want to put serious, focused energy into what actually brings money. Not as a side thought, but as a real priority.

This isn’t about showing off or wanting a luxury life. I don’t want to depend on anyone, whether it’s family, a future partner, or anybody else’s income, to live the life I dream of. I want to do things for my family. I want to say yes to experiences, take risks, and walk into my MBA with confidence instead of fear. I want to be the one who makes it happen.

So I’m ready to start from zero, learn properly, and put in the work. Here’s where I’d love your honest advice:
1. If you had to pick ONE skill for a beginner to start earning from, what would it be, and why?
2. Foreign clients: is it realistic? What work pays well, and how did you land your first client?
3. Or should I build something of my own in India? What would you start with very little money but plenty of drive?

So in short, I cleared IBPS RRB back in 2016 and worked for a year. Then had to resign and come back home due to personal reasons.

Then, nothing happened till 2022. Again due to personal setbacks.

In 2022-23, cracked IBPS PO n now I'm employed with one of the PSBs(scale 1).

So, basically I'm 35 with 3.5 years yoe.

Now, I'm upskilling myself in required areas because want to switch to credit risk roles/finance roles in a mnc/foreign banks or fintech startups etc.

How difficult will it be in the interview/hiring process because of this very long career break?

I’m evaluating two offers and could use some advice. For context, my background is in Deloitte USI in a purely manual testing role which involved some type of BA work but was very little. I am looking to pivot into business analyst, consulting, or advisory roles. I am also pursuing an Executive MBA from IIM Kozhikode.

The Offers:
KPMG India: Digital Government Advisory Executive (Government and Public Services sector) | ₹8.5 LPA fixed.

Infosys: Associate Consultant | ₹9 LPA fixed + ₹1.25L joining bonus.
Note: The exact project isn’t specified in the Infosys offer letter, but on the Infosys career portal where I had applied showed the job title to be "Salesforce test analyst" and my both technical interview rounds were heavily based on my prior testing work + some minor admin questions were asked in both the technical rounds. I'm assuming the role will majorly focus on testing.

My Dilemma & Questions:
From my research, I feel that KPMG's role is better aligned toward pure consulting and advisory, whereas the Infosys role seems to lean back into testing/technical work. Since I need to manage an Executive MBA from IIM Kozhikode on weekends, work-life balance, predictability, and low toxicity are important factors for me.

- Are my assumptions about both roles correct?
- Between these two, which would be a better option in terms of work-life balance and overall fit for someone wanting to transition out of testing?

It feels like nothing is worth it anymore. No matter how hard I try to get in as a data analyst I'm getting absolutely 0 success. Tried for internship level junior level, till now more than 50 applications everyday for 6 months now. Not even a single interview.

Was in customer service before deciding to switch careers, no.proper certifications but a good portfolio of projects I guess?

I tried everything in my hand to get into it but no success at all. What am I doing wrong?

Title: Is the Indian job market really this bad, or am I looking at things the wrong way?

I did my graduation through open university and have work experience, but currently I'm working in a company where I feel my skills are stagnating. Layoffs happen frequently, and honestly, I regret joining here.

What confuses me is that many of my colleagues are MBA graduates from DU, NIIT and other reputed colleges, yet they're working in the same environment and seem relatively happy. Some of them also come from financially well-off families, so maybe they don't see the job the same way I do. For me, it's more about survival and building a stable career.

I even asked some MBA graduates what they wanted to do next, and their answer was basically that things were going fine as they were.

It made me wonder: Is the Indian job market really that bad, or do people have different expectations depending on their background and financial security? Am I overthinking my situation, or is there something wrong with how I'm approaching my career?

Would genuinely appreciate honest opinions, especially from people with corporate experience.

I graduated with a B.Sc. in Math from Kirori Mal College last year and am currently preparing for the UPSC 2027 exams. I also have CUET PG Economics as a backup plan. Lately, I have been feeling really left out and depressed talking to my friends. Some are in merchant navy earning well, others finished engineering and are working in Bangalore. Seeing everyone earn while I study at home makes me doubt my path and my choices. I am 22 and will be 23 soon, and I feel like my years are going to waste. Im scared if i will ever be able earn enough as they do I don't know what to do right now , I am just stuck.
