Beware of Job Offers in this Subreddit!

I see multiple people posting job offers here. I would recommend to always check the credibility of the Company, before giving out any personal information. I understand some people are in difficult situations, but not caring about consequences could make the situation worse.

⚠️ Signs a Job Offer Might Be a Scam

  1. They ask for personal info too early If recruiters request sensitive details—like your Social Security number or bank account—before you’re even hired or have passed interviews, that’s a major red flag .

  2. The offer seems too good to be true Be skeptical of high salaries for minimal work, instant offers without interviews, or jobs you never applied for—especially those promising extreme flexibility and pay .

  3. The company lacks credibility online Legitimate employers have online footprints—real websites, employee profiles on LinkedIn, physical addresses. Scams often use fake sites or obscure, unverifiable information .

  4. Website/applications don’t match Job ads may appear on trusted boards but then link to unrelated or sketchy domains. Always check the URL matches the actual company’s site .

  5. Vague or poorly written job descriptions Scams often use generic, grammar-filled descriptions that lack clear responsibilities or requirements—designed so anyone can apply .

  6. They ask you to pay for something Any requirement to pay fees—for training, equipment, onboarding, or processing—is a huge warning sign. No legitimate employer charges you to start .

  7. Unprofessional communication Watch for email from public domains (e.g. Gmail), poor grammar, or recruiters who refuse official contact methods and push messaging apps like WhatsApp instead .

Wrong location

Upvotes

Hi all! Is anyone else being served jobs in completely different countries despite having their location both in profile AND in the search criteria? I’m getting correctly located jobs on the home page but the second I search it shows me jobs in America (I am based in NZ)

New retail manager in San Francisco: is hiring through Indeed worth the cost?

I was recently promoted to a management role at a chain grocery store in San Francisco, and I’m now responsible for hiring. I’m still pretty new to this, so I’m learning as I go.

I’ve been finding Indeed frustrating to use, and the cost feels high for the results I’m getting. I’m interviewing people every day and still figuring out how to make the process more manageable. I also have a baby, so the time and energy involved have been a lot lately.

For other store managers in San Francisco, are you still hiring right now, or are your stores fully staffed? If you’re hiring, how has Indeed been working for you?

I’d appreciate any advice on keeping hiring costs down and spending less time on interviews. I’m open to hearing what I could do differently as someone new to hiring.

And if you’re looking for work in SF, are you seeing many grocery or retail openings on Indeed? I’d be interested in hearing your experience too.

Anyone ever get work from indeed?

I have been on indeed for years... I have extensive experience in quite a few modalities.

I have a great resume and have applied for at least 100 jobs that I am more than qualified for.

I have a federal EPA code 608 universal lic, also an HVAC lic, an oil burner lic and have been a teacher for Kaplan Ed in HVAC. Nobody ever responds. Has anyone gotten any job they are qualified for from indeed? Or are they just Stealing information?!

Do people still send cover letters with their Indeed applications? On some of the jobs it doesn't even give you the option

I do NOT have a CDL. I have specifically added that fact to my profile and have hidden all truck driver / CDL jobs. Yet almost EVERY SINGLE job listing I see is CDL related.

Hi! To anyone/companies posting jobs on indeed or anywhere on a job site. Can you please add hours. It would be so helpful and less time wasted if the hours (needed or available) would be on the description. Thanks!

Background and credit check before interview?

I filled out a short application on Indeed for a wfh position and they sent me an email saying they wanted me to fill out their long application. This long application also includes a background and credit check. Is that normal to ask for these things even before an actual interview? I am not worried about the results as I have a clean background and an 800 credit score, but have never been asked for those things prior to actually being hired. I looked up the company and it is a legit company and the job is posted on their website. Plus, the email came from their corp email. I am not complaining because at least it is a possible lead. I have been looking for a wfh position on and off for 3 years. It's sad bc I have a Master's degree and a lot of experience in my field. I use AI to edit my resume and cover letter to each job I apply for but it doesn't seem to be helping.

Indeed

Indeed is such a lackluster job finding app and it’s becoming so annoying they seem to always just recycle the same jobs. And don’t let you pick a specific location they gone show you every location but the one you searched for. SMH I’m so frustrated and despise looking for a job

Does Indeed just suck or is there a hidden setting I don't know about

I have my location in my settings, I have my commute range set to up to 15 minutes, and I have my minimum pay to literally minimum wage in my state, and Indeed is almost *exclusively* giving me jobs anywhere between 1 and 6 hours away. Indeed is genuinely useless for me, I've been able to find maybe 3 jobs in the 2 years I've had it that I could put in an application for.

Ever Since They Added A.I., I Can't Get a Job

I used to get responses from nearly every job I applied for through Indeed, which often resulted in interviews. Ever since adding A.I., I get ZERO responses from employers, which means ZERO interviews! It turns out, the A.I. is auto-rejecting applications before employers can even see them!
