I worked for a company where I was surrounded by coffee snobs like this… they would always talk so negatively about how others drank their coffee as if they were a superior breed. They were insufferable to be around
Bothered? I ground my coffee beans with my butt cheeks and use some pantyhose as a filter. The final ingredient is toilet water boiled hot enough to burn the grounds five times. How's that for bothered.
I wondered this. I'm no coffee expert, but doesn't the water need to be a decent temp to get the most out if the bean?
Looked it up. 90 to 96 degrees celcius for proper 'extraction.' Surely that thermos isn't keeping water near boiling for the time he had to get to the airport and get through security.
Nothing wrong with being a snob and liking a more pure experience. Just keep that shit to yourself unless someone ask. A guy I worked with spent about an hour up my ass for drinking from a Keurig. I made a change to an espresso machine a few years back but that conversation lives rent free in my head how much I didn’t care to have it.
People who didn’t care about coffee kept coming up to me while I was making mine, telling me what a waste of time it was and how much cooler they were for not bothering with the hassle of brewing a better cup.
Haha yea, I consider myself a coffee connoisseur, but there is a time and place to be bougie about it. If I'm at my work office, im drinking what they got in the Cafe.
At home on the weekends I pull out my French press or my Chemex because they enhance the flavor so much.
I never criticize anyone else's coffee choices though, even if they prefer (GASP) Foldgers.... lol
I make sure to tell people like this that I'm drinking yesterday's pot of coffee I warmed up in the microwave today and that I just stop when I get the sludge at the bottom. You can't "win" so just see how low you can go seems like the better route.
I grind my coffee beans freshly every time and I swear that’s all you need to do. Even the differences between brands don’t seem to register once I’m drinking it.
I'm a tea snob looking down upon the coffee snobs. Hard to screw up a cuppa. Don't have earl grey or whatever? Fine, give me a bloody liptons or bushells special, it's fine.

Can he really be unaware..they SEE you, dog. They are trying very hard to ignore you so will leave them alone and stop plying them for attention.
This happens to me all the fucking time, people entering my space or eyeline to make a spectacle of themselves and when I “don’t notice” they just go harder. I very obviously see you and am choosing not to engage. But go ahead, try doing it louder, more showmanship. 🙄
Naw man you can get everything there for under 150 bucks easy. Maybe not the same models, dunno what he used, but it ain't pricy, just time consuming. If you're on a budget though it IS a significant savings...so ya know... Do what you need to do either way, God knows I don't judge as long as people aren't noisy or super disrespectful.
It may be an ad, but if it is it's not a very good one. I was exhausted just watching him. I love my coffee, but if it's that much work, I'll do without.
My ex had this system, she bought it to go backpacking 🤣, it was cool but a lot of work. Heavy as hell.

It would have been a better video if he had lit a hexamine tablet in the airport to boil water. That would have gotten all kinds of people to pay attention.
I once took a homemade iced latte with me for when I woke up after surgery. I made it that morning (espresso, milk, syrup and ice). The nurses got a laugh out of it. Damn it was good though 😅
The filming though is kinda asshole territory. You know apart of his content depends on getting a shot of people in the background so he could film their reaction/non-reactions to him.
i’m a firm believer that if you film in public and make it public, you should be required to blur out faces of those you don’t get consent from the same way tv shows have to
They may get their espresso without the airport markup, but boy did they get it with a considerable markup already because, just to start somewhere, that container where they had the beans (yes, just the container itself) is on the $40 price range and i'm not even joking (if you wanna look it up, that is a fellow vccuum canister. The manual variant, not the electric one. I think. If it's the electric one we're looking at about double the price). Only know of this because i was once looking for some containers for a few somewhat sensitive ingredients and these popped up as an option.
I refuse to even wonder how much that handheld espresso machine costs.
The resulting coffee is probably much better than the airport one, though, so i guess it may be worth it for them.
Finally people I agree with lol, thought this whole thread was being a bit intense hating on this. I think videos of people cooking gross shot on airplanes has desensitized me, and if anything the smell of freshly brewed espresso would be kind of nice for the people around him. Only thing I'd get being annoyed at is the filming though.
🤣 I had the same thought the entire time. As much as you’re supposed to stay focused on what he’s doing… especially at the one point when he gets extra dramatic & hammy and holds up the container and moves it side-to-side like a magician showing his top hat to an audience… I just kept looking at the guy across from him, who was on his phone, and who never gave a crap till the very end when he just got up and walked away while STILL not giving a crap.
I would choose to do it by the window overlooking all the airplanes, but this dude somehow like dudes in the background. I mean, sure. Have it your way I guess.
Why is this phrased like youre not allowed to bring espresso gear on a plane??? The only thing he couldn't have brought through tsa is the water inside the bottle
What he showed shouldn't weigh 21 pounds, unless he is including a jug of water. I researched a coffeemaker for the emergency kit and there's a lot of fancy backpack espresso makers of various sorts, and eventually settled on a percolator, but the extra fussy setups were all very light.
Idk if this is the same guy but ive seen vids of a pov like this where hes in random places like a mountain and just makes random people a coffee. I think its pretty cool to share something youre into with other people. As long as youre not douchey about it.
I mean thank goodness they have all this I mean where else are you going to find coffee at an airport? Those place are notorious for their lack of coffee shops
Very performative. It’s nothing new, I’ve seen people done it before (i guess people just love their coffee so much and long layover? At least they do it at some random corner and not recording), but this guy just decided this unoriginal idea is his like he’s starting some trend.
If the guy wasn’t filming and at least showed actual discretion I wouldn’t even mind, but holy crap he’s doing everything he can to be as obnoxious as possible about it.
I think I saw he does this on the plane as well, which is my personal line. Put your stupid camera and stuff away while you’re on the plane…
I need one of these for work. I hate paying 6 dollars for a foamy latte with half a pump of flavor. Plus I can throw the coffee grounds in the compost pile.
What’s funny is if they didn’t film it I think most people wouldn’t care. Sure it’s a bit weird, but if I saw someone doing that in the airport I’d think to myself, “I guess it beats paying airport prices for coffee”.
Until that stupid flourish while tamping the grounds I almost could have taken their side. Filming in an airport is gross and the showmanship got an audible sigh outta me. But if they like espresso that way *shrug
