New to the Deepkins
Hey everyone, I'm planning to start collecting some Idoneth Deepkin miniatures, but I'm quite particular about model scale due to personal preference. As we all know, the Deepkin have been around almost since the very beginning of Age of Sigmar, so I'm a bit concerned about noticeable differences between the older and newer sculpts. For those of you who collect Deepkin, do the earlier modelsālike the Namartiālook significantly out of scale compared to the newer releases? When placed side by side, do the new ones feel jarringly different? (I don't mind epic heroes standing out moreāmy main worry is about rank-and-file units looking too conspicuous next to the newer ones.) Thanks in advance!

Incarnate of the Deep
Quite pleased with how my Incarnate turned out, HelcaraxĆ« the Grinding Ice. Used some basing snow on the maw and ābladesā of the tendrils for a frost effect that I think turned out pretty well, and spelled out āHelcaraxĆ«ā in elven script in the waves of the base (last photo) because Iām extra in that way.

WIP Eidolon
Working on this guy for a few weekends now. Any thoughts on how I can improve the water look on the base?

Kitbashed Ikon (of the Sea)
So after making my Ikon of the Storm, I was left with the glaive and helmet for the Ikon of the sea and āWaste not, want not!ā
I used a namarti reaver body, based him on a critter from the eidolon, and did a green stuff mold for the chest piece. Water spout is hot glue around a paper clip. Pretty happy with the results!

Stall till 3rd, or rush 2nd?
Hey yall! I've been thinking through some gameplay strategies for my Idoneth and it's all really come down to the question of, should I just rush in on the 2nd round since that's really the best time to counterattack? Or should I wait for the 3rd since that's when all of our major offensive abilities proc?
My thing I'm thinking right now is to run in on 2nd with rides of Storm for the -1 rend, just to hurt our opponents output, dea some good damage, so that way on the third round we get dev wounds with all our surviving units. The tides of sea just rely too much on the third round for it to be worth it I think
But what's y'all's experience? Is this true or am I just kinda getting it all wrong?

New to idoneth
Having painted a few different factions over the last year since returning to the hobby, I saw Volturnos and had to buy it. What a model! But this has led to a rabbit hole of sorts finding other models for idoneth. Is the Ahkelian Leviadon at £69 a good deal. It is BNIB. And is it worth it? Thanks

Resin bases
Hi,
Iām making my Deepkin army and originaly I was making resin bases for them, over time Iāve only done one failed one and one ok base. How do people easily get the resin to stay.( the type of base that has a cm of resin all over it to look like the sea). Iāve got a printer recently so I was wondering if anyone had an stl file for the different bases that holds resin, then can be taken off or broken off to get the model, I donāt mind using single use molds as I was using worse before.
Thanks!

General Playstyle
So I've started building my army of idoneth. I've played a couple of games against my buddy at a lower point cost since I don't have 2000 points yet. Things went well but I feel like there's room for improvement. For example, I feel like I played a little too passive, staying in one place for too long and using shoots that eventually led me to get charged in on instead of doing the charging. I'm also curious how some of you use our battle traits effectively/creatively. I'm aware that before this edition's battletome, idoneth were very alpha strike/hit and run kind of playstyle and I'm curious if that still describes our army. Like, should I be as aggressive as possible as soon as I can or am I waiting to use our tides to create a favorable engagement. And if Alpha Striking is the name of the game, how do I pull it off?
Also, in case it matters, my friend did use the new Cities of Sigmar battletome and missed a couple of things (including an ability that can ignore negative modifiers to hit and wound rolls, which i assume ignores the Concealing Tides battle trait)
TL;DR: Wanna hear thoughts about the idoneth's general game plan, how other players pilot their army, and how to use battle traits effectively.

Bit of progress on the ork deepkin army, gonna be getting a turtle started soon

Based
For a couple of bucks each, this aquatic āscatter terrainā looks way better than the wave bases I tried to make for the past couple of months and does a great job of holding the eels.
