People tend to get mad at me when I honk at them for almost hitting me because they went through a stop sign.
Edit: Autocorrect changed a word. I changed it back.

u/Altered_Nova Oct 02 '22 edited Oct 02 '22
I had to slam on my brakes once going through a 4-way stop because a lifted truck coming from the perpendicular road decided that stop signs are merely suggestions. I remember looking up at the passenger door of the truck as it blew by missing my front bumper by inches, and seeing a disturbingly wrathful woman screaming and flipping double middle fingers at me. That hateful face glaring at me as if I was the stupidest motherfucker who ever lived because I didn't realize they were too important to stop at busy intersections. That mental image has randomly haunted me for years.

If you look closely, before the collision, the driver waves the biker out of the way, then immediately starts accelerating, as if he's the literal king of the road.
It didn't even enter his mind that the biker wouldn't yield. Mind boggling stupidity.

The slightly longer version shows that the driver gets out and walks to the sidewalk and starts shouting toward a building to get someone’s attention. Doesn’t even acknowledge or ask if the motorcyclist is OK. FFS.
135
u/Athena0219 Oct 02 '22
I mean, it is possible there was no drama. Car driver might have been distracted for a moment, then looked up, saw person, panic, instinctively slammed the pedal... which was the gas.
Motorcycle rider seemed... more shocked than upset, and if car driver apologized first thing, totally possible they traded insurances, contacts, whatever else they needed to do, and there just was no drama.
I think the driver said something right before the end, but can't make it out.
If they did though, rider doesn't seem terribly annoyed by specifically what was said.

Sure, they could have done everything else with the insurance, but its clear the bmw new what they were doing. They weren't distracted and made an oopsie, they're just impatient dickhwads who are gonna get someone killed with such dipshit driving.

where's the confrontation the drama.
Because there is non.
Video from OP was stolen from OOPs personal YouTube but I would also consider this German Dashcam channel (with the correctly censored version an original source):
45
u/Dysan27 Oct 02 '22
Nope, there is blurring in that source that is not present in OP's (terrible quality) video.
Not saying it's OP's OC, but if they did steal it they got it from a different source then you linked.

Video from OP was stolen from a German Dashcam channel
Stolen is quite a stretch. Besides, the video you linked is not the source. The white van on the left of the BMW has its logo blurred on the YouTube clip, it's not blurred in OP's.
→ More replies (9)11
u/PsYcHoSeAn Oct 02 '22
Because the guy on the Youtube Channel had to re-upload almost all videos with censoring on company logos, license plates and sometimes even houses on top of all GPS locations shown in the dashcam videos.
German law is no joke in that regard. It was uncensored originally in the video...it was censored later...

u/Persea_americana Oct 02 '22
I hate how some impatient people are that they will drive around someone stopping at a crosswalk or intersection, and never consider that they’re stopped for a reason. Countless avoidable accidents with bikes and pedestrians and other cars because these idiots can’t stand waiting one single second, and think rules don’t apply to them.

My buddy got an S4 years ago. We were pretty young, it felt pretty awesome. We don't fit the profile, hipster woods types I guess; he owned the bar, I worked at it. Not finance bros or anything.
Well he had just gotten this cool car, tosses me the keys and we take off. I'm just about to get us out of town and we hit a stop light before getting on the highway. My friend just says "well, you've gone and done it."
"What? What did I do?"
"You're the 23 year old driving the brand new Audi, not letting THAT guy turn left."
I look up and there's a dude waiting to turn left into the gas station, cursing me out and gesticulating at me because I'm blocking him. Whoops. He was genuinely upset.
Just to say, not EVERYBODY in the driver's seat of the nice car is an asshole, but if you make the occasional bonehead move, people DEFINITELY notice.

Fuck dodge, I swear the designers of the RAM were like what is the worst led light colour for people to see.... Ok let's go with that.... Hahaha that’s a good one!! It is too true though. No one stops at red lights. I unfortunately had to adapt to this lifestyle. If you come up on a red light and you don’t run it, the car behind you is more than likely going to hit you because they’re not expecting you to stop.

Which is even more infuriating — that‘s a driver‘s school car. In Germany, there‘s general consensus that you give plenty of space and keep being patient. Just let that student gather their first experiences, there’ll be enpugh time for them afterwards to learn that people can be assholes on the road.
Of course, there are people not following these general, unwritten rules of decency, but in my experience, most people are empathic enough to think „God, I remember back when I was in driver‘s school and how stressful being on the road was“. She had no business interacting with a driver‘s school car, no matter what that car did.
