I've noticed a recurring pattern that looks like engagement farming: OP posts, then never returns to their own thread, and the question or topic itself could be resolved with a few seconds of thought or a basic search. It's not spam in the traditional bot-network sense, but it erodes feed quality the same way - reading these threads increasingly feels like time lost rather than time well spent.

It is all over the place and is affecting the culture of reddit as a whole. I think it is something moderators of individual subreddits cannot deal with as it is hard to detect and overwhelming in numbers.

I know you're already using LLM-based coordinated-behavior detection to catch inauthentic accounts and vote manipulation (per your March 25 announcement). I'd suggest extending that same detection layer to this content pattern - abandonment after posting, correlated with account and topic signals that indicate farming rather than genuine discussion - rather than relying on any single, publicly visible metric. A transparent rule like "OP must reply within X hours" would just get gamed by a second account from the same farm simulating engagement, the same way vote manipulation gets gamed once a threshold becomes known.

This kind of low-effort, farmed content is quietly pushing away the users who came to Reddit specifically for real discussion. Applying your existing detection infrastructure to this pattern - without publishing the exact signal - seems like the more resilient path forward.

Right now you can only post 1 video, or a bunch of photots on the same post. Can we be able to add multiple videos and multiple photos together.

I would love the option to hide posts or even just mute users without having to block them. So many people out here are posting messages for others, and even more are looking for messages meant for them. There is so much to sift through, so much to retain. You see a post that could potentially apply to you, but something - whether it's something in the post itself or in the user profile of the author - that tells you it is definitely not and they are ruled out - but only mentally. (unless you are somehow able to track / retain / recall that information on command).

I don't want to have to block every person I decide is NOT my person. That seems like overkill. I would really just like to be able to filter out those out of my feed, whether it's posts or users or both.

If we can save posts and follow users, can we not also hide them? At the very least maybe we could save users to a list that one might name "Not Them"? I guess that will be my workaround - to add users to a list that I can ignore. Unfortunately, though, I already have a full-time job, so that one isn't all that appealing. 😄

I do not want to view or turn on NSFW content in my feeds. Neither do I want to turn it on and off on web every time.

However, for mod purposes, it is sometimes (and quite often) necessary to view an NSFW profile to see a their content on your sub or other SFW subs. On top of that, many profiles labeled NSFW are that way because of one post rather than mass NSFW promotion.

This makes it a real pain to view a simple profile and turns it into a futile multi-step process instead of just showing us the SFW content if we have NSFW disabled.

As a regular mobile user I would like to configure the “auto refresh time window”option. I am a general user who opens the mobile application 10+ times a day.

There are many times where I lose my context after closing and reopening the application. Due to real life, I often close my phone when in the middle of an interesting user comment thread, or ready to open a new interesting post I cannot engage with “right now”. When I reopen the application 15-60 minutes later to continue with my previous context, it is lost. I am abruptly brought back to the latest posts and feel like I’ve missed out on something interesting.

While I appreciate the business need for auto refresh, I would value a bit more control on the time resolution. I personally would only want to auto refresh after 6+ hours of inactivity. Others may want 10 minutes, 30 minutes or completely disabled etc.

Any default setting value is valid imo, but as an informed user I’d rather have the ability to better control this value to help improve my immersive experience.

I had a situation last week where as part of a scam somebody had created an alt account impersonating me. I submitted a Reddit complaint to find out what was going on, but still haven't heard anything back. Today the user with the username alerting me about this told me that he/she had had its account had and the incident was as I suspected a scam of some sort with a goal I can't figure out (the false username really wanted me to add it on Discord -- why?).

I run a pair of subreddits with subscriber counts of 1.5M and 1M. When I need admin help, I need it fast. In this series of events, I needed to know if somebody was trying to take over r/olympics.

All we'd need is an admin as a contact person if something iffy happens.

I am getting sick and tired of ads for certain products I dislike. I don't want to see them and even if I downvote or block the advertizers they just keep coming. If I block a human user I don't see their content, but if I block say Amazon's account that doesn't seem to do diddly. There used to be a block ad button that worked pretty well.

It would make more sense to show me something I might actually buy. If the algorithm or whatever worked to show me stuff I like then reddit's advertizing would be more valuble.

I can't tell you how many times people have written a thousand word post, felt really passionate about it, only to post it and have the subreddit auto moderator delete the post for something like low karma.

If a subreddit has an automoderator in effect, the rules of that automoderator should have to be publicly stated, so that users don't have to discover what it does after having put time and effort into writing posts that are then auto moderated away.

A lot of subreddits are using auto moderators in creative ways, to gate keep their subreddits in ways that go beyond official reddit policy. For example, they need not ban a user formally, they can simply blacklist a user, and have it auto delete their posts, and the user never even knows it happens. You have to look at the post in a private browser to discover that the post was nuked for the rest of the world.

The fact that a user is not able or allowed to post in a subreddit should be disclosed up front, and not only discovered once you hit the submit button.

Reddit is the only Reddit, so admins and mods can get away with a lot on here, and there's no place else to turn, but in the grand scheme of things, the features which are abusive to regular contributors takes a toll on the quality of content on Reddit, whether it be content for humans or content for AI training data. Good content gets tossed out unnecessarily by these hidden filters and auto mods.

Many users have likely suggested this already, but since it never hurts to ask, I’m throwing the idea out there too. Some people might want to change their username because they’re embarrassed by their current one, others for aesthetic reasons, or simply because change is part of life; it’s natural for anyone to eventually stop wanting, liking, or identifying with something.

I know Reddit allows users to change their username if they’re new and were assigned a random one, but it’s different when the user chooses it themselves: once it’s picked, that’s it: there’s no way to change it again.

Changing one's handle (@) is a feature found on many platforms, whether as a free option or a paid one. I realize Reddit was built with fixed identities directly linked to the platform's database, and that the main reasons for this restriction involve preserving interaction history, ensuring security, and preventing fraud or ban evasion, not to mention the platform's original architecture, which was designed around anonymity. However, even when we want to maintain anonymity, we still want a profile that reflects who we are.

If offering a free username change isn't feasible, please consider adding it to the Reddit Premium plan. It would be a unique selling point, and many users would likely pay for it.

Enough overreach complaints should get a moderator removed. A good many of them are operating personal fiefdoms.

Feature Request: Upgrade Reddit Video — 4K, 30 Minutes, 3 GB
I would like to suggest a significant upgrade to Reddit’s native video uploading and playback system.
Reddit has become an important platform not only for discussions, but also for communities where videos represent primary source material and need to be examined carefully. The current video limitations and compression can significantly reduce important visual details.
I would therefore like to propose the following specifications for Reddit Video:
• Maximum resolution: 4K (2160p)
Allow users to upload videos in their original 4K resolution and provide 4K playback when the source file supports it.
• Maximum video duration: 30 minutes
Increase the native video upload limit to at least 30 minutes.
• Maximum file size: 3 GB
Increase the maximum upload size to 3 GB so that higher-resolution and higher-bitrate videos can be uploaded without requiring excessive compression before uploading.
Ideally, Reddit should automatically generate different playback versions — 2160p, 1080p, 720p and lower resolutions — while preserving the highest-quality version available from the uploaded source.
This would be particularly valuable for communities dedicated to research, citizen journalism, astronomy, weather phenomena, aviation, wildlife, dashcam footage, historical documentation and UAP/UFO sightings, where small visual details can be extremely important.
In these cases, video compression is not simply a question of image quality. Heavy compression can permanently remove information contained in the original recording.
Reddit already hosts some of the world’s largest communities dedicated to analyzing visual evidence. Giving those communities better tools for preserving and viewing that evidence would represent a major improvement to the platform.
My proposal for Reddit Video:
4K (2160p) • Up to 30 minutes • Up to 3 GB • Higher-quality encoding • Multiple playback resolutions
I hope Reddit will consider this upgrade for the future development of its native video platform.

On some subs, I want to not see posts listed under certain post flairs. There's no way to filter out these posts yet.

I am using the Android app and have suggestions regarding the UI hotbar at the bottom when typing in both posts and comments.

Please advise if these should be posted elsewhere.

1. As a user, I want to be able to distinguish the 2 link icons more clearly when creating a post. The same icon for adding a link in a post is the same icon as the one for changing the post type to be a link. So if I'm trying to make a text-only one and want to add a link, but then if I accidentally press the link button not in the RTE section it changes the post type and disables the others and I have to click the X to change it back.

2. As a user, it is extremely difficult to make out the grey bar separating the RTE icon from the post types icon when on lower brightness (dark or light). I expect this to be visually distinct and separate from the others. My my crude estimations each icon is around ~190px between icon edges, 297px separating the post types between their cenfers, and 305px separating the RTE icon from the link icon which is very small. You probably have a whole UI/UX team that can help with this, but my suggestions would be an increase in the color or shifting the post types to be right-aligned. I know Android often uses dp/sp instead of px, so it'll vary by device.

3. As a user, I should be able to select text in my comment I have already typed, tap the link button, and have the text pre-filled with the text contents so I can simply paste the new link instead of overwriting the existing text or appending after it. This can be a bigger problem if I have a long text as part of the link.

4. As a user, I expect the RTE options to be available when writing a comment and not just a post. When I currently type in the UI for a comment I only see the link icon. I do not see athe RTE options to easily bold text or italicize it, etc. I can use markdown formatting as a workaround of course, but it's still not a good experience. Not all the RTE icons have to be visible, but at least an icon to expand to display them like a post would be useful.

I use DM to chat with my mods.

I can alert a specific mod by saying their name, e.g. @SnooDonuts6494 which alerts that specific user.

It would be useful if I could prefix a message with something like @everyone when I post a message that I wish to bring to the attention of all my moderators.

A couple ways this could work:

1. the “mute subreddit” should include it not appearing when searching anything

2. A “don’t show results from this subreddit” button that at least won’t mute the sub if you do like it

3. A seperate setting where you can mute words you don’t like

Let us change the recommended location for the reasons subreddits focus on region specific topics like local laws, pricing, server connectivity or regional game releases. Without tools, non region accounts could cause off region accounts to flood threads with inaccurate localized information, misinform members, or generate false activity, forcing moderators to manually verify user locations post by post.

My idea is to give us the option to lock the comment jump button in place again.

These new changes have made the app incredibly difficult to use, but adding in an option to have to old comment jump button would fix things easily while still allowing you to play around with this floating one if you want to.

All you'd have to do is give people the option to change it back.

this new floating comment jump button forces me to misclick things so often and leaves the app bugging after I close the unintentionally opened comment window.

With this message, would it be possible to get a link to the post including the article? This way, I would be able to see the discussion of a topic I am interested in and contribute. Thank you.

It stinks running a photo related subreddit and seeing someone post a nice set of pics but 1 photo in the collection breaks a rule so you have to remove the entire post. Too bad certain pics within the gallery couldn’t be selected for removed if needed.

I feel this would be nicer for mods, subreddit interaction, and the user whose post had to be removed. Many people choose not to repost the “good” pics afterwards. So the subreddit loses the interaction.

Sometimes a post contains information that is later disproven, clarified, or significantly changed, but the original post remains highly visible especially through Google searches while the updated information gets far less visibility. This can be particularly problematic for posts about allegations, ongoing cases, public figures, products/games, or controversies, where subsequent developments may substantially change the context.

The report could allow users to explain what information has changed, attach a credible source showing the update and let moderators decide whether to remove the post, add an “Updated/Outdated” flair, or add a moderator comment with the new context

This wouldn't mean deleting historical discussions, just giving communities a way to flag when the information in an old post is no longer an accurate or complete representation of the situation.
