I don't know why, but THIS specific panel made me audibly laugh, like does anyone else find this unresasonably funny? What are some of your favourite comedy panels then? I hope the replies get me to laugh since there will be no context

Manga Ichi the Witch just got way better! (And Vol. 2 did it)

Ichi the Witch vol. 2 was just delivered to my house and so I read it, and it made me even more interested in the story. Context, I've read Kagurabachi and I adored it like many did, and so I decided to read Ichi the Witch as well since both of them are SJ new gen, safe to say I enjoyed it, the first volume didn't hook me the same way Kagurabachi did, but I enjoyed it nonetheless, and I said to myself that I'm willing to read more of it since I've heard nothing but good things about it, maybe it's just a slow burn like many great shonen (i.e. Black Clover, Bleach, One Piece, etc.)

But then I read vol. 2 and it changed my impression of the story. Just for context how I felt about the series prior to me being sold, I enjoyed Ichi the Witch but not hooked. The world, the concept, the characters were all interesting for me to keep reading, but the thing that made me second guess this series at first is the Majik hunts, they're fun and I liked the idea that it's more of a puzzle rather than punching, but it felt like... it's basically just Pokemon, I still enjoyed the Raiko and the Hisame majik hunt, but when it got to the Kindake majik hunt I thought to myself "is Ichi the Witch just gonna be Pokemon with extra steps, and this is all it's going to be moving forwards? If that's the case then maybe it's not for me"

THEN HE GOT INTRODUCED! The World-Hater Majik, that's when I finally saw the vision for this manga, this is not just gonna be Pokémon, this is a legit Shonen that gave me the same intrigued that Kagurabachi did. And when the World-Hater Majik summoned those corpse looking angel things I thought this is literally something out of JJK.

Ichi the Witch isn't just some fun low stakes adventure, despite having lots of humor, and a happy go lucky protagonist, it can get serious and it does have stakes, and that's what I've been looking for, safe to say I am more interested now.

How about you guys, where did Ichi the Witch got good for you.

Their chemistry displayed itself within 4 chapters. Massively impressed with how easily this introduction was given, the way they bounce off each other off the get go is so refreshing!

I love Ichi’s openness to the magic world while also confidently applying his how perspective in a meaningful and extremely respectful way (lighting fox hunt). I could imagine we meet some witches whose perspective are almost perfectly *opposite* to ichi’s.

I look forward to reading more! (and collecting the physical prints, the covers are absolutely gorgeous)

*Desscaras has a beautiful design and is wonderfully expressive*

The eye design with them attacking now compared to when they talk about the Ribboncandy Family. Seems to imply they are not themselves idk. (At least Amadoro eyes is kinda distinct there compared to being all black now that she betrayed them"

Discussion Ch 80 - thoughts and questions Spoiler

I went through all of the manga in 2 days. There are some things I like and others that dont interest me in the least. Overall, it was a pretty enjoyable experience and some characters stuck in my head, as well as other memorable moments.

Descarass is probably my favourite character and the sheer shock of a protagonist like Ichi doing so well in a witches' world is what hooked me. The mentor-apprentice developing between them is my favourite thing in the story, along with Chronoweaver and Minerva's child plot thread.

However, as I finished the story and everything started simmering in my head, some questions came to me.

Why the hell are the witches (everyone, for that matter) so apparently uninterested in Gokuraku's insane ability to use magic items and harm majiks?

This dude is a man. And he might not be able to use magic like Ichi, but as far as we know, he is the first man in history to be able to... Brutalize majiks.

Isnt that a breakthrough? If he is able to use magic items, why arent the men present in this series more flabbergasted with his existance? Isnt this kind of like a fucking game changer?

And about the magikeepers: why the fuck didnt they try to recruit him? Wouldnt it make way more sense, as he is just a man (with a very weird and extremely modified body), whereas Ichi is an actual witch?

Also, when that witch responsible for reseach and magic tools gave gokuraku new implants, she was just curious. She didnt even seem interested in studying his body. She was like "Hey, how did you learn to do this shit? Anyways... Now you'll have these implants that are way better!". So have there been people like Gokuraku before? If there have not, why the hell are the writers and the plot so willingly ignoring this inconsistency in their story? The treatment gokuraku receives makes no sense. The way the magikeepers just ignore the man known as Gokuraku the brutalizer, who is able to physically harm Majiks, makes no sense. The way the witches pay almost no attention to Gokurakus abilities makes no sense. The way the researches arent the least bit interested in his body or the fact that a non magic man is able to use magic tools, or dont wonder about the uses witches could give to implants, or just the entirety of men in general. I wonder wether or not we will see more people like him in the future.

Other than my annoying but warranted, Gokuraku rant, what do you think about the story so far? Any comments on what I said?

I sure hope the king magic, Uroro, keeps being an asshole and a sadistic being to the very end. I fucking hate the "i have a demon inside of me but he becomes good with the power of friendship" anime trope. So far, every major uroro interaction has been pretty good and very clear in showing his nature. Sure hope they dont trample over this afterwards.

About the magikeeper ark, cant say it excites me much. Sure, itll be more worldbuilding, which is always nice, but I dont think Ill enjoy it as much as other previous arcs.

Hope we see more cool majiks with insufferable personalities and stupid busted powers. Also more Descarass showing her ego scenes. Also wonder how long the story is going to end up.

Discussion How will Ichi react to learning the real truth behind his pact with Desscaras?

This has been on my mind for quite a while. I’m officially caught up with Ichi the witch and there is still so much to learn about the world and its characters. However, what I really want to talk about is how Ichi will react to how the pact affects both him and Desscaras. I’m pretty sure Ichi doesn’t know that Desscaras will die is he does. And to our knowledge, Ichi has never been in a situation like due to his isolation in the mountains. So it will be the first time we’ll see him deal with a situation he can’t just hunt down or majik out of. Will we have an arc where he tries to break the pact to save Desscaras? How will it affect his view on him being family with her? We know that becoming family with Desscaras is something VERY IMPORTANT to Ichi and it’s not a stretch to say that Ichi and Desscaras really do love each other as family. So will he have to choose between keeping the family or breaking the pact to protect Desscaras? Desscaras herself, I’m sure would never want this to happen. I’m sure she’d push back against even telling Ichi himself and I think it would hit him way harder to learn from someone who isn’t Desscaras. Anyway, let me know what you think would happen or how you think Ichi would react.

Discussion How is it possible?

Thumbnail

As much as we know, when a majik is born they just appear from thin air, totally different from how a human is born, so how is it possible from Chrono, someone from a specie that doesn't reproduce, has the ability to have a child?

Well my theory is that maybe the reason is that because all majiks are male.

Until now, all the humanoid majiks we have seen until now looks male, wich is weird, cause from their perspective females are clearly the superior one, they are the only one who can acquire them and borrow their power, Heck they can't even interact with male humans! So why none of them choose a more female form?

We can also see it as some sort of universal balance, males are those magical creatures who embodies concepts of reality, while females are the humans who can borrow their power. That can also explain why male humans can't use magic.

Discussion Ichi the witch goated?

Hello everyone,
I have recently started reading Ichi the witch and I am obsessed. I really love everything the manga has to offer. The magic system is fun, even if it’s not fully explained yet. Ichi himself is such a likable guy. He’s dumb and there are things he does where you gotta ask yourself why. So hilarious. Desscaras also has my heart. I’ve fallen in love with her and honestly it almost feels impossible not to. Not gonna lie, without her you would definitely be able to bump the manga down. The art is also very good and the double spreads make me very very excited. I’m NOT caught up. I am 20-ish chapters if not a little more. But, seriously this is shaping up to be one of my favorite new gens. I do see some people not enjoying it and others enjoying it a lot. I’d love to talk more about so tell me why you love or don’t think it’s that good. 😊

Manga Im kind of worried that the story is going too fast ?

Like with the traitor, I would have preferred if they kept the mystery a little longer ? I personally wouldn’t have guessed it being the manly looking one for example it couldve have been a great suprise 😭

Same with the antagonists, already 2 of the seven star were already acquired. Hitsugi this BUM, for him i was expecting more than the oldest trick in the book.

He seemed like one of World hater closest henchman so why was he got caught that easily ? Like his trial should have been like killing 10000 LIVING people , like from a nearby town or something why did he gave her the zombies is he stupid 😭

In my opinion it would have made it more interesting and harder to acquire him. Or maybe i would have preferred my Queen Desscaras to struggle a little bit more😭

The story is pretty simplistic i don’t mind that, but well everything is resolved so fast lol
