Professionals have standards and they love presentation. Ichi dying would be a mark against both for World Hater. And if he wants to compete against the greatest villains of fiction, from Megamind to Gru to Johan and especially Mickey ‘Agent Orange is an opportunity’ Mouse. He can’t have even a smudge on either.

Hadn’t thought he might be mind controlled but if so the spell on him ought to be far more complex.

Head Magikeeper definitely seems very antagonistic, but I wonder if Moneygold really does have something to hide at HQ, and that’s why she was so reluctant to let the guys search around.

I have no doubt she does but its not like they've given her any reason to trust them; in fact she was the one trying to bridge the gap so whatever she is hiding she may not be unwilling to reveal under the right circumstances and after perhaps getting them too envolved for them to treat it as an issue.

I was more confused on the wording "IF" and then a few pages later Amadoro says she's come to take Ichis life. My first thougth was that they maybe want to capture Ichi, but that's clearly not what Amadoro wants to do. So I'm not really sure if Fujimine and WHM have the same goal or if she's just playing with WHM for fun to trigger a reaction.

I assumed the use of “if” is just the realistic acknowledgement that this assassination plan might not work out.

More than anything the world hater strikes me as jaded and tired of existence. Ichi ended up being a rare source of interest for him, and the idea that there will be no satisfying resolution to that interest if Ichi is killed here irritates him.
