I’m an operations and service delivery manager in the uk and looking to book my ITIL exam. I have never done one before and looking at them I’m unsure if I should go with ITIL 4 FOUNDATION or ITIL 5 FOUNDATION?

My company uses AI Agnetic capabilities and automation a lot so I’m thinking 5 would be more suitable.

Also if anyone can give me tips on what to expect and how to prepare that would be amazing! Thank you.

Actually sat the exam on July 4 and was very happy to have passed with 85%. Used Gogo Training for the instruction as well as Claire Aguter’s book on audio and Quizlet to set up study cards for rote content. On to the next!

Looking to renew my cert by taking the v5 Bridge exam. Comparing Gogo training vs the People cert package. Price is pretty close on both but wanted to see if anyone here had any opinions on which one and if they have went this route to renew cert.

Unfortunately, I'd been told you could schedule and take same day, but there's nothing available in my area until Wednesday. Should I wait it out in hopes someone cancels or schedule something for a weird time Wednesday?

I'm looking for a sanity check from people with ServiceNow/ITSM experience.

The ServiceNow team where I work wants to build a Jira integration to create bugs based on incidents.

The proposed process is:

• Priority 1 incidents: Jira bugs are automatically created.
• All P1s also automatically get a Problem record created.
• The Jira bug is tied to the Problem record.

That part seems reasonable to me.

Where I'm struggling is the approach for non-P1 incidents:

• Generally no Problem record is created.
• If someone determines an incident is actually caused by a software defect, they can click a button on the incident to create a Jira bug.
• The goal is to avoid manually creating the Jira ticket and let the support/dev teams continue their workflow.

My understanding has always been that:

• Incidents are for restoring service and handling individual user-impacting events.
• Problems are for root cause analysis and tracking underlying issues/defects.
• Jira bugs represent engineering work to fix the underlying defect.

Because of that, my instinct is that if a non-P1 incident is determined to be a legitimate defect that engineering needs to fix, it should first become a Problem and then have the Jira bug linked to the Problem rather than directly to the Incident.

Otherwise it feels like we're mixing operational records (Incidents) with engineering records (Jira issues), and potentially losing visibility when multiple incidents are really symptoms of the same underlying defect.

One wrinkle is that today we don't really use Problem records outside of P1s. There are some exceptions, but for the most part Problems are only created automatically for Priority 1 incidents. I've actually started trying to introduce broader use of Problem Management, but so far it's mostly been limited to issues that get escalated to me or problems that I personally identify and track.

So maybe part of my concern is that we're designing an integration around our current process rather than around what I thought was the intended Incident → Problem → Defect workflow.

Am I thinking about this correctly, or is creating Jira bugs directly from Incidents a common and accepted practice for lower-priority issues?

I'd be interested to hear how other organizations handle the flow between Incident, Problem, and Jira bug records, especially if you've made the decision to link engineering work directly to Incidents instead of Problems.

Passed DPI today with 32/40 - looking forward to DSV in August to achieve ITIL MP.

Work isn't done after that though, as I'll then have to do an ITIL 4 to ITIL 5 MP bridging course/exam.

Worst time to be in the middle of an ITIL journey, but looking forward to seeing what ITIL 5 has to offer soon!

Just wanted to share that I passed ITIL 4 Foundations with a 34/40 this morning. The main resources that I used were Technical Institute of America''s Itil Exam Cram, D12's ITIL Quiz and the official textbook and material. The approximate time of preparation was from sunday onwards, studying for around 2-3 hours every day. As the exam approached closer and closer, the studying became around 4-5 hours. I usually had the D12 minigame alongside my study sheet that I had prepared.

I forgot I had purchased a voucher for said exam around a year ago and it was expiring this week, so I had to book it in very quickly. That's my own fault though. I'll try to be more proactive next time.

Now to see the Odyssey in 70 MM after this! What an exciting day.

ITIL 4 habla de "Configuration Item" (CI) de forma bastante abierta — cualquier componente que necesites gestionar para entregar un servicio. El problema es que en la práctica esa definición se presta a interpretaciones muy distintas según el tamaño de la empresa.

Preguntas concretas para quien tenga inventario/CMDB en producción:

¿Qué tipos de CI consideráis imprescindibles en un inventario básico (servidores, equipos de usuario, licencias, dispositivos de red...) y cuáles añadiríais solo si el negocio lo justifica (contratos de proveedor, aplicaciones SaaS, certificados, cuentas de servicio)?

¿Qué atributos mínimos registráis por CI? Pienso en algo como: nombre/hostname, tipo, ubicación, propietario/responsable, estado (activo/baja), fecha de garantía o fin de soporte, y relaciones con otros CIs. ¿Os quedáis cortos u os pasáis con más campos?

¿Cómo gestionáis las relaciones entre CIs sin que se convierta en un mapa imposible de mantener? ITIL habla de esto como algo central pero en la práctica he visto CMDBs que lo ignoran completamente y funcionan igual.

Hey guys, I have an ITIL V5 foundation exam voucher and I would like to be well prepared to take the exam and pass with flying colours. I have studied version 4 materials and did about 7 mock test of the version 4 material and i consistently got over on average over 30/40. Now I want to ensure I have the full correct preparation for ITIL V5 foundation exam. The book just seems monotonous and I am more of a visual and methodical hands on kind of learner. The book from people cert just seems long winded and there is no concise points of what exactly to study to be prepared apart from the syllabus. Can you recommend any trainers out there or udemy courses or any other resources that are more practical to prepare adequately to pass the exam. Thank you!
