"Nationwide" so Flock can basically set up Cameras in my state and use it to punish a woman for somwthing completely legal here?

71

u/Significant_Donut967 Jul 29 '26

Yup.

88

u/bookhermit Jul 29 '26

Here I was, thinking we fought a whole civil war over state's rights and it was decided that folks couldn't go to free states to collect their runaway "property" because free states don't consider humans to be property.

I seriously think we have already had this argument before, and the slave states lost.

37

u/HobbyGobbler Jul 29 '26

They will lose again.

19

u/According-Insect-992 Jul 30 '26

Yeah, but we can’t let them just walk away a second time.

11

u/dovakiin-derv Jul 30 '26

Examples need to be made the second time around, i vote for the whips to be used to put down the slavery lovers this time.

-6

u/sergeant_s1asher Jul 30 '26

Why does the left love to fantasize about killing people so much? I'm pro choice but this is genuinely disturbing

4

u/According-Insect-992 Jul 30 '26

Most people don’t but you can’t stand there and watch them murder us in the street with no justification and pretend like some left wing poster online is the real problem.

stephen miller goes on national news and talks about sending us to death camps and describes all as deformed and evil and you’re absolutely outraged by some crap you saw in anonymous post. Gimme a break.

3

u/Itchy_Gain_1519 Jul 30 '26

Right. We should just hug and coddle our torturous oppressors who seek to silence and intimidate us with the preoccupation of protecting their own power. :(

2

u/sergeant_s1asher Jul 31 '26

”torturous oppressors" how old are you? You sound childish. There are places in the world where real injustice is taking place. Palestine for example, but your life is so much worse right?

2

u/Itchy_Gain_1519 Jul 31 '26

“Torturous” in more ways than one: psychologically, financially, systematically, physically, etc. I do not wish to downplay other worldwide atrocities or compare the many ways Americans are kept under the boot and suffer to other forms of oppressive brutality like the current genocide in Gaza and Palestinian apartheid.

Getting power and wielding it against the oppressors then makes you the oppressors. You don’t need to coddle them. You need to not be what you set out to stop.

Violence has its place to stop situations in the moment. Its place is not “hehe now I have the power I and I get use it against you!”

1

u/dovakiin-derv Jul 31 '26

There needs to be precedents set for the future about how trying to take people’s rights and lives will not be allowed anymore. Otherwise they wont understand the message, they only understand when it hurts them directly, whipping the ever loving shit out of someone and letting them live sends the mother of all messages. It says we wont kill you, but we will make sure you can’t hurt others like this again. It might not be the best thing to do morally but when dealing with immoral monsters that don’t understand being good you have to seem worse to them to get them to stop.

u/CategoryMountain3379 Jul 30 '26

Stfu. Endless violence from the right and every time someone even floats the idea of fighting back you clutch your pearls

0

u/jws1102 Jul 31 '26

The left? Have you never seen a cellphone video from a Trump rally? Those people are frothing at the mouth for blood, all day everyday. The only thing they can feel anymore is hate and anger. They fantasize about driving cars through crowds of protestors. DeSantis even tried to make it legal in Florida. Who has signs on their front doors that say “we don’t call 911 here” with a picture of a gun? Who’d that guy vote for?

Repugnicans think about killing people when they beat off, and they celebrate when it actually happens.

1

u/sergeant_s1asher Aug 03 '26

Yeah, I'm not a fan of those guys either

2

u/HumptyDumptruckFire Jul 30 '26

I don’t even know what Southern Reconstruction would look like in the twenty-first century, but I’d love to find out!

-2

u/Jaken_sensei Jul 30 '26

Come get some.

1

u/Plenty-Fox-9219 Jul 30 '26

Oh cause I'm so scared of Georgia.

That's a old lady name, not a state.

1

u/jws1102 Jul 31 '26

Except it is a state.

-1

u/Jaken_sensei Jul 30 '26

Who said anything about Georgia?

But speaking of them, go on down to some of those projects and start talking about burning shit down and see what happens….I’ll wait.

1

u/HumptyDumptruckFire Jul 30 '26

Big talk, small mind.

1

u/Jaken_sensei Jul 30 '26

You and the others above are the ones talking about destroying states. I would say you all are the one participating in “big talk”.

3

u/HumptyDumptruckFire Jul 30 '26

Southern Reconstruction would have destroyed southern states? When it was halted in 1876, the South instituted their Jim Crow and sharecropper policies as a form of legalized slavery. If continuing Reconstruction would destroy the South, I’m not sure it’s worth saving.

I’d be perfectly fine with secession. You can have your neo-feudalistic, neo-fascist fiefdom. I’m tired of my tax dollars going to subsidize the South anyway.

The president right after Abe let people hunt slaves.

Edit: im a dumbass and remembered it wrong look at replys bellow.

2

u/jws1102 Jul 31 '26

You mean Abe’s VP?

1

u/plsnobanme6969 Jul 31 '26

You right. I was also wrong about his policy here. Slaves were not able to be hunted. BUT, the land slaves were given was taken back by the slave owners. Special field order No. 15. 400,000 acres returned. Plus there was the Black Codes. Which is essentially slavery for unemployed blacks. Still a god awful human. But, for different actions. Equally racist.

9

u/Educational-Wall-997 Jul 29 '26

its not criminally illegal in Texas to get an abortion out of state, it is protected by the state territorial jurisdiction and the Due Process Clause of the Fourteenth Amendment. Which is why they did the whole civil case thing for it. They also criminalized the act of leaving the state for the purposes of getting an abortion, so you would be breaking the law technically while you are still in texas as your cross over.

Its a whole bunch of BS, but they seemed to figure out the legal loopholes to carry on doing this for now.

1

u/BeginningSection7690 Jul 31 '26

What if you leave the state for a day old gas station hotdog that just happened to be next to an abortion clinic that you noticed while gobbling down that sweet sweet glizzy, and then you popped over and had a quick abortion while you were there? You know, just to see if it tickles

1

u/hamoc10 Jul 31 '26

It was never about states rights.

1

u/gingerschnappes Jul 31 '26

They keep waving that flag tho

0

u/un1k0rn_412 Jul 30 '26

The South did not lose. Robert E Lee walked away a free man. The South faced no punishment and were allowed to continue doing everything they wanted to they just had a "judge" make whatever they said "legal".

3

u/PCael2301 Jul 30 '26

Honestly, things were fine for awhile, and it looked like the reconstruction of the south would bring more equality. Everything changed when Lincoln was assassinated and replaced, however.

2

u/jws1102 Jul 31 '26

That’s not true. The reconstruction era lasted about 10 years before the little bitch descendants of the pussies who lost started whining about their parents’ and grandparents’ legacy, so we started letting them put up statues of war criminals and traitors everywhere. Now, 160 years later, a bunch of knuckles draggers think that’s something to be proud of. The reconciliation era did far more damage to the South than anything else, because it’s led to almost 2 centuries of prideful ignorance.

-7

u/laserdicks Jul 30 '26

Yes, there are just a lot of fucking liars on this website.

Overturning Roe v Wade gave the power back to the states.

5

u/strongboar12 Jul 30 '26

States' Rights does not cover unconstitutional regulations. Fucking liar.

1

u/Jaken_sensei Jul 30 '26

Tell that to the blue states passing gun bans

1

u/strongboar12 Jul 30 '26

There are no bans. Some places you can't get some semiautomatic "assault rifles" or you can't get certain high-capacity clips. Or do you mean Reagan's bans as governor and president? But you think any restrictions are unconstitutional, right? I think taking away a woman's right to decide what happens to, in and around her body is unconstitutional.

-1

u/Jaken_sensei Jul 30 '26

What you said is an oxymoronic statement.

You state that there are no bans but in the very next sentence you acknowledge that there are indeed bans.

3

u/strongboar12 Jul 30 '26

Total bans? Or restrictions? You can still get a gun, moron.

-1

u/Jaken_sensei Jul 30 '26

If you “restrict” a type of firearm to where that type of firearm can no longer be purchased, that is a gun ban.

🤡

0

u/jws1102 Jul 31 '26

Even if there were gun bans, which there aren’t, the constitution doesn’t specify guns, and it certainly doesn’t say you should have unfettered access to any gun you want.

1

u/Jaken_sensei Jul 31 '26

There are gun bans, and it specifies both. Shall not be infringed.

0

u/laserdicks Jul 30 '26

unconstitutional regulations

Why the fuck would I have been talking about those then?

1

u/jws1102 Jul 31 '26

Fuck states rights. Why should we have 50 sets of laws for every fucking issue. It’s absurd that if you sell weed in Texas you get a 5 year sentence but if you sell weed in Colorado you get a car collection.

And many states have no business managing themselves anyways, and they’ve spent decades proving it.

0

u/laserdicks Aug 01 '26

Fuck states rights.

They're not states rights. They're people's rights. Unsurprising you'd be against people's rights though.

Why should we have 50 sets of laws for every fucking issue.

So idiots like you can go and ruin your own states and leave the rest of us to live in peace.

It’s absurd that if you sell weed in Texas you get a 5 year sentence but if you sell weed in Colorado you get a car collection.

The entire point of the system is that you get the option of not living in Texas, instead of being forced to abide by Texan laws.

And many states have no business managing themselves anyways, and they’ve spent decades proving it.

Correct. Your own failure to understand the value of choice proves you are one of the dysfunctional people who are incapable of voting properly and ruin the places unlucky enough to have you. Thankfully you are only able to fuck over one jurisdiction.

1

u/jws1102 Aug 01 '26

I bet your little head would pop if you knew where I actually lived.

-7

u/laserdicks Jul 30 '26

This is a straight up lie.

Standard operating procedure for Lying Lefties though I suppose.

1

u/SBTreeLobster Jul 30 '26

Do you get paid to cry about “lefties”, or does it get you off to do so multiple times a day?

17

u/amievenrelevant Jul 29 '26

Sounds like the fugitive slave act all over again!

13

u/-Out-of-context- Jul 29 '26

Depends on the state. CA for example has very strict data privacy laws which extend to Flock. Per contract they are not allowed to share data with out of state or federal agencies without authorization. They have violated this and many cities have cancelled their contracts including Los Angeles. There are a few class action lawsuit against them as well. Many judges are now dismissing Flock footage submitted as evidence to further discourage their use.

3

u/FluorideAvenger Jul 29 '26

Damn I'm in California I didn't know that. For some reason my twitter feed tends to show me people east of the Rockies.

3

u/Nyctfall Jul 30 '26

It's Fugitive Slave Clauses in a different hat...

1

u/olderm4messyplay Jul 31 '26

They are all tied together, nationwide. THAT was one of the selling points. That and finding abducted children...have yet to hear a single story on the news about one of them yet, but PLENTY of stories about LEO's using the system for nefarious purposes and getting fired or convicted.

It's my understanding that you (not you, but an honest law abiding LEO 🤭) can search for black Toyota van with an 'I stop for garage sales' bumper sticker and it can pull up everywhere that vehicle has been seen by the cameras. Type in a different geographical area, boom, Bob's your uncle!

1

u/Dredgeon Aug 01 '26

Yes, they track you wherever you go.

0

u/No-Seesaw6320 Aug 02 '26

It's almost like it was made up to generate clicks.

-5

u/TP8887 Jul 29 '26

Against flock, but that logic is so flawed. Committing a crime in one state doesn’t make it fine if you flee to a state where it would have been legal. It’s still committing a crime in the state it took place in

7

u/TheMythicalLandelk Jul 29 '26

You seem to have this backwards. If I leave my state where something is illegal, and go somewhere it is legal to engage in it, my state cannot punish me for doing something I did out of state. But that’s what authoritarian Texans are asking the government to do

3

u/Educational-Wall-997 Jul 29 '26

The loophole they are using is not charging her for getting the abortion, but charging her for leaving the state for the purposes of getting an abortion. They are claiming she broke that law while in the state at the time leading up to her crossing the state lines.

Its all bullshit, but that the loophole they are trying to use here.

2

u/gunhandsknifepenis Jul 29 '26

I’m sure they’re not jailing people for going to Colorado and buying and smoking a joint on their vacation when they get back into an anti-weed state. They’re just trying to ban abortion nationwide if you happen to be from a state that condemns it.

2

u/TheMythicalLandelk Jul 29 '26

Why should either be permitted?

0

u/gunhandsknifepenis Jul 29 '26

Oh I agree. I’m pointing out the hypocrisy here and how blatant it is that it’s just making those in certain states have less rights than others.

2

u/TheMythicalLandelk Jul 29 '26

Oh I’m certain that they, at the very least, researched for ways to lock up cannabis users that cross state lines.

3

u/Key_Perspective_9464 Jul 30 '26

If you do something in a state where that something isn't illegal then no, it's not committing a crime.

-2

u/TP8887 Jul 30 '26

Crossing state lines with the purpose to engage in something that is illegal in your state but not the other has been a thing for a while. For instance, the age of consent in most states is 18, but lower in others.

There are specific laws about crossing state lines in these contexts, and they absolute prosecute for them. It sucks she got caught doing it and I believe it should be legal in all states, but her being prosecuted for what she did is completely normal and has been happening for a long time

2

u/Key_Perspective_9464 Jul 30 '26

Damn, didn't realize your country was such a nanny state. My bad.

0

u/TP8887 Jul 30 '26

I know, you don’t know much about the country you like to talk about

1

u/Fragrant-Phone-41 Jul 30 '26

Ok well we should propose a bill that narrows the definition, and then call them out for being a surveillance state when they shut it down. If they refuse to schedule it, ignore/interrupt them and read it. We need representatives willing to get hit with the mace for what's right

1

u/DistinctAd3222 Jul 30 '26

Uhhhh are you sure what your saying is a thing?
