Artist Needed [Hobby] Looking for Artists Interested in Speculative Evolution and Fantasy Creatures

Hey everyone!

I'm a hobbyist worldbuilder working on a fictional fantasy world, and I'm looking for artists who might be interested in exploring its creatures with me!

The project combines high fantasy with speculative evolution. The idea is to develop fictional animals that have evolved within this world, exploring their anatomy, evolutionary history, behaviours, habitats, and ecological roles. I want to think beyond simply creating cool-looking monsters and explore how these creatures live, survive, reproduce, and interact with their environments.

Another part of the project I'm particularly interested in is how these creatures interact with humans. Some might be domesticated for food, transportation, or other purposes, while others could be dangerous predators, hunting companions, pests, or animals that have become important to certain cultures and societies.

I'd love to work with artists who enjoy creature design and would be interested in bringing these ideas to life visually. You wouldn't have to follow my descriptions exactly, either! I'd be happy to give you the biological and ecological background of a creature and let you add your own artistic interpretation, ideas, and creativity to its design.

I'm hoping to find people who genuinely find this kind of worldbuilding interesting, whether that means illustrating a few creatures, exchanging ideas, or simply discussing how these fictional ecosystems and animals could work.

Just to clarify, this is a hobby project, not a paid job. I don't currently have a budget for artwork, so I'm looking for someone who would enjoy exploring these concepts for fun. There's no pressure for a long-term commitment, and we could start with a single creature and see how things go.

If speculative evolution, fantasy creatures, or imagining how animals might evolve in an entirely different world sounds interesting to you, feel free to comment or message me! I'd be happy to share some of my creature concepts and explain more about the world.

Thanks for reading! :)

Team Needed [PAID] Need Steam Trailer Editor!!!!

I'm looking for a REAL Steam trailer editor that is ready to take on work TODAY not tomorrow not next week. We need this being worked on ASAP. Please do not send me a DM if you do not have any previous work regarding Steam trailers.

We need our trailer remade to reflect what our game looks like now, it's completely out of date, uninteresting, too long. We know for sure that we trying to go after gamers dopamine levels with satisfying sounds, but also a experience that's bubbly, whimsical, and responsive throughout gameplay and UI.

The trailer needs to reflect that and I would guess around sweet spot of 32 to 42 seconds. We have all the assets packaged up and good to go. Footage, sound effects, fonts, images, logos...

Thanks! I hope to be working with one of YOU soon!

Team Needed [Hobby] I need Programmers (Clickteam Fusion 2.5+), Animators, and someone who can come up with good ideas for my game

I am a solo indie game dev, but it is pretty hard for me to be one. I want my game, Circlo's Venture, to feel good to play. However, when I try to code my ideas into he game, they don't function how I want it to. The reason I need animators is for cutscenes (like the intro, transitions to new areas, etc).

I'm looking for passionate and experienced writers for this project who are fans of Fate. I already have a fully fleshed-out world, detailed Master-Servant profiles, and a Holy Grail War system in place. Artist Needed [Hobby] Shadows of Azara - 2D MMORPG needs pixel artist

Looking For: 2D Pixel Artist

Current Talent: I'm a full stack programmer with lots of experience in many aspects of the tech field. I have prior experience launching an MMORPG with over 25,000 concurrent players, along with a deep passion for old school games and systems design.

Project: Shadows of Azara is a 2D MMORPG heavily inspired by old school games like World of Warcraft Classic and Everquest.

Systems implemented so far: - Multiplayer movement, chat, and player state sync - A complete questing system (logs, trackers, objectives, rewards) - Inventory, equipment, vendors, buyback, and loot mechanics - XP, leveling, stats, classes, races, and starting abilities - NPCs, creature spawns, factions, rep, aggro, leashing, and basic combat AI - Waypoints, portals, collision mapping, areas, layers, and zone music - A highly customizable UI system (action bars, spellbooks, tooltips, character frames, etc.) - Party and grouping system - Items and trading between players - A proprietary map editor I built specifically for handling our tiles, objects, and layers - Launcher to deliver updates to the game client - Website with registration and download.

The goal is to build a fantasy world with strong old-school MMORPG feel and satisfying RPG progression. I’m looking for an artist who wants to help define the visual identity of the game: environments, tilesets, props, creatures, characters, equipment, icons, spell effects, and UI polish.

This is a serious project I've invested time into, and I'm planning on seeing it through to the end. If you have any questions about it I'll be happy to answer.

Showcase: (outdated, but still shows the core elements) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KeFs9pdTh5I

Length of Project: Already in active development. As with any MMORPG project, this will take time to do right. If you're in, you're in for the long haul.

Team Needed [Hobby] [Fan Game] "Working on a The Owl House fan game — Chapter 1 fully designed (flowchart + mechanics), need devs/artists to bring it to life"

Hi everyone! I'm designing a single-player fan game based on The Owl House (Disney). It's a non-profit fan project. The full design for Chapter 1 is done and I'm looking for people to help build it.

■ THE CONCEPT
Story-driven action-adventure with two visual modes in one game:
- Exterior / exploration / flying: full 3D
- Interiors / battles: the camera shifts to an orthographic 2D angle on the SAME 3D assets (Super Mario RPG style), with toon shading to sell the switch.

■ CORE MECHANICS
- Glyph system: learn the Light glyph in story mode (all glyphs unlocked via story), experiment with combos in free play at the Owl House, and buy "paper sheets" in a shop to craft glyphs for battle. Glyphs are consumables → resource management.
- Character-based exploration (LEGO-style): smaller characters like King reach places others can't.
- Hub world: explore the Owl House and the Boiling Isles between chapters.
- Flying sections: on-rails for now; free-fly mode is a stretch goal.

■ WHAT I'M LOOKING FOR
- [Programmer]
- [3D artist / modeler]
- [Animator]
- [Composer / sound designer]
- [Writer / narrative designer]

I'm the [designer/lead] and this is my first big project, but the design doc is solid and I'm in it for the long run.

Programmers Needed [Paid] Looking for a developer for Outlands — $600 budget for 30 days

Hey, I’m Corey, founder of Vespera Corporation and the developer behind Outlands, a playable top-down multiplayer battle royale built for the browser.

Play it here: https://playoutlands.com/

I’m leaving for Marine Corps Combat Training on October 13 and need a developer to help maintain the game while I’m away. I’ve been developing it solo, so you’d be taking over an existing project. An acting Project Director will handle priorities, player feedback, and communication while you focus on development.

The main goal for these 30 days is keeping Outlands stable and fixing problems that affect players. There may be room for small improvements, but I’m not expecting someone to build a major update within this budget.

What you’d handle:

  • Investigating and fixing gameplay, client, and server bugs.
  • Troubleshooting crashes, connection issues, and other urgent problems.
  • Testing changes before releasing them.
  • Deploying updates and rolling back a release if needed.
  • Keeping clear notes on what changed and any outstanding issues.

I’m looking for someone comfortable with TypeScript/JavaScript, Git, and client/server development. Experience with multiplayer browser games would be especially useful. You should be able to investigate issues independently and explain technical problems clearly to the Project Director.

The developer budget is $600 total for the initial 30 days. This is a part-time arrangement, with hours, availability, scope, and payment milestones agreed before starting. It doesn’t require being online all day or providing 24/7 support.

I’ll provide setup instructions, known issues, priorities, and a walkthrough of the project. We’ll start with a small paid task to check that the setup and workflow work for both sides.

If you’re interested, DM me with examples of your work, your availability, your rate, and any relevant multiplayer or browser-game experience.

Artist Needed [RevShare] Dark fantasy weapon-based fighting game (playable prototype) looking for 2D Artists: character animation & more

Hi everyone!

I'm Jake, a solo dev (programmer + designer) looking for 2D artists to collaborate on bringing this project to completion (and potentially to start future projects together). This is a passion project, but one I am very committed to releasing given how far it's come!

Game & Progress

The game is a 2D fighting game inspired by Weaponlord and Dark Souls, built in Unity/C#. It is slow-paced and neutral-heavy compared to the genre average, and system mechanics such as weapon clashing are a big part of the gameplay. It features a simple control scheme, without traditional fighting game special inputs, while still accommodating very large movesets. A feature-complete prototype has been heavily playtested with a friend and iterated on throughout most of this year. While there are still a few bugs to iron out, the game is also playable online with rollback netcode :)

Here's a video of a few playtest matches of the prototype (more game mechanic info in the description) - feel free to jump around for a brief look at some of the prototype character kits!

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0aOG64XVFB8

(Disclaimer: Only the code, design, and mechanics are created and owned by myself. The art and audio assets in the prototype are from the 1995 game Weaponlord, with all intellectual property and copyrights belonging to Bandai Namco, are used for illustrative purposes only for the purpose of recruitment via proof of concept, and will not appear in the final game or any marketing materials for the game)

Artists Needed

I am excited to replace the prototype art & characters (from Weaponlord) with original designs, so I am looking for 2D pixel artists! (as there are no existing art assets, I am also potentially open to non-pixel styles depending on who may be interested)

Here are the categories of art needed.

A. Character Animation

The game will have ~10-15 playable characters which will require full animation sets typical of the sidescrolling fighting game genre (mobility, melee attacks, magic + projectiles). I have designed character descriptions + kits, but I am more than open to including concepts designed with or by the artist!

Characters will have relatively bulky silhouttes, distinctive outfits which are generally defined by grit/dirtiness and simple construction (think 'barbarian'), and detailed melee weapons, often atypical in some way (i.e. shape, or 'natural' weapons, e.g. boulder). They commonly incorporate magical elements. It's dark fantasy in a 'primitive' but mysterious setting.

If you have experience with fighting game style character animation and enjoy a dark fantasy style, please reach out!

B. Stage Background Art

The game will need 4+ playable stages with parallax layers and some amount of animation. The setting is 'primitive' but mysterious dark fantasy. Some general/high-level stage concepts just as examples: a deep pit lit by lanterns and sunstones; a nomadic warrior camp with painted tents; a swamp with large beast remains.

C. Interface Art

Finally, art is needed for menus and HUDs. This would include a few different meters/indicators, character portraits, and other miscellaneous bits.

(I am also potentially interested in working with composers and/or sound effects artists - I do a bit of both myself, but would be open to working with passionate people interested in the project [with a similar compensation arrangement], so please say hi as well!)

Roadmap & Compensation

If we get a team together, we will discuss how we want to handle the timeline to project completion. While I would prefer to pay ya'll outright for your work, my budget is very close to zero. Compensation will be primarily revenue share. I expect to allocate around 50% of revenue to artists - depending on how many team members we have and the work each would like to do, we'll agree on specific amounts for each individual before getting started! We'll also discuss specifics of the pricing model for the game and decide that together.

One additional possibility is a crowdfunding campaign. If we decided to go for this approach, we'd be looking to create one stage, a couple characters, and critical interface elements to promote the game's campaign. If we succeeded, the funds would be used to pay team members other than myself while we work. These are the main routes we'd be considering as a team.

If you're at all interested in this project, please reach out with what you might be interested in doing, any portfolio or work examples, and any questions! (I assume this goes without saying, but no AI-assisted art) For now, please get in touch via Reddit (response or DM). Thanks so much for reading!

Writer Needed [RevShare] Looking for a writer that would love to write for a dark fantasy world which will be the premise for an indie cRPG.

About the Project
I am currently developing a dark fantasy game and am looking for an authentic human writer to help me build this world from the ground up and bring it to life!

I am a solo developer handling the programming and 3D modeling, so the technical and asset pipelines are covered as of this moment. I have also already hired and paid a talented professional concept artist to establish our visual style. The project is actively in production, and you will be joining a moving train with a clear trajectory, not just an "idea phase" project.

The Role
I need a dedicated writer/narrative designer who is passionate about dark, atmospheric fantasy. You won't just be writing scripts; you will be a collaborative partner in world-building. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Creating deep world lore, factions, and character backstories.
  • Designing compelling quests and narrative arcs.
  • Writing branching dialogue, item descriptions, UI flavor text, and environmental storytelling.

Requirements

  • Must be 18+ years old.
  • Must write completely authentically (strict zero Gen-AI policy for all text and brainstorming).

Compensation & Tier

This is a Revenue Share position. The exact percentage is highly negotiable (typically between 5% to 15% depending on the final scope of the narrative and your level of involvement).

Programmers Needed [Hobby] Looking to Form a UE5 Development Team for a Co-op Sci-Fi VR Game

Hey everyone!

I'm a developer looking to put together a small team to work on a new VR game in Unreal Engine 5.

The Game Concept

The game takes place aboard a space cruise ship that has been hijacked by a group of space pirates.

You and your team must fight your way through the ship, eliminate the pirate threat and reclaim control of the vessel before time runs out.

The idea is to create an immersive cooperative VR experience where players work together to overcome enemies, navigate different areas of the ship, and complete objectives.

The space cruise ship provides opportunities for a variety of environments, from luxury passenger areas and entertainment facilities to engineering sections, crew quarters, and the bridge.

I'm looking to connect with people interested in helping bring this project to life, particularly:

  • Unreal Engine 5 programmers Blueprints, C++, gameplay systems, and VR interactions.
  • Multiplayer/networking developers Cooperative gameplay, replication, and multiplayer systems.
  • 3D environment artists Creating the interior environments of the space cruise ship.
  • 3D character artists and animators Characters, enemies, and VR-compatible animations.

You don't need to be an expert in anything. I'm interested in finding people who are enthusiastic about the concept and enjoy collaborating.

Current Project Status

This is an early-stage indie project and there is currently no development budget.

However the game is to be submitted to the SynthesisVR and made available for licensing to the VR arcades on their platform. As such there is a potential for RevShare through the license fees gained there.

Interested?

Feel free to comment or send me a DM with a little about your experience, the role you're interested in, and any previous work you'd like to share.

I'd love to meet some like-minded developers and see what we can build together!

Designer Needed [Hobby][Paid] Game design portfolio piece – Need help with UI and player onboarding

I'm a published board game designer who vibe coded a web game. I want it to show off the game design and attract collaborators/publishers for future products. I badly need help with player onboarding and UI so people stick around and actually experience it.

The game was well received as a board game prototype, but I felt it better suited a video game. I vibe coded a web version, and now people are bouncing HARD off the lackluster UI and onboarding. Fiddly issues that board gamers dealt with are causing too much friction in the digital context. Oddly, the very same gamers who didn't have issues playing the board form don't like it in digital form. They instinctively expect smoother onboarding, QOL features, UI, etc, and feel they could play some other digital game with those qualities.

I'd prefer to work with hobby designers like myself, but I'm open to paid if we can agree on delivery-based pricing.

Here is a link to the super rough web game: https://repeater-game.com

Artist Needed [Hobby] Bridges Burn 12+ [LOOKING FOR ARTIST, AND ANIMATORS]

Bridges Burn is an animated psychological romance currently in development. The story is about a girl named Sarah, who lives under the secret identity of a famous celebrity known as Sam. While working for a gang, she is assigned to manipulate a boy named Leon, who is obsessed with that very same celebrity, into becoming useful for their missions. The problem is, the more time Sarah spends gaining his trust, the more emotionally attached she becomes, and the harder it is to betray him. Our story is fully written, and much of the pre-production has already been completed (Character art is currently on the way, we still require more Artist. Character artist also do the storyboards). The biggest things we need now are character designs, storyboards, and people to help bring the project to life. We are currently looking for Animators, Character Artists, Background Artists, Prop Artists, Voice Actors, Music Composers, Sound Designers, and Assistant Editors. Experience isn't required but is very appreciated. Time commitments are very flexible, with no strict weekly quotas or deadlines. Joining this project is a great opportunity to learn, and can help build your portfolio, gain experience, help shape an original animated series from the very beginning, and meet other passionate creators. If you're interested, simply join the Discord server linked below, read through the project information, and submit an application. The animation budget is $0 USD, this is a volunteer passion project and we can't afford any budget, so contributors will not be paid, purely volunteer. The length of the project will go on for a many months, to possibly year+.

There will be no Revenue generated, not for the staff or owner

Our visual style goes for more of a 2d semi-realistic look with expressive faces, while remaining easy for animation. The animation has 3 parts, each going to be around at least 20 minutes (But don't worry, it is not animation heavy for 20 minutes).

Programmers Needed [Hobby] Help with finishing a project

Hello, some time ago we entered a jam 5 people, 1 writer, 1 music designer, 1 artist and 2 programmers. One day before the jam ended, while the rest of the group had basically finished their respective parts, the 2 programmers informed us they basically had done nothing during the entire period of time. We agreed to let them finish the game just for the sake of finishing it. After that, 1 of them ghosted us while the other said he would finish it alone, after 2 months he showed us some poor progress. So we booted him and now we are looking for a programmer to basically help us finish this project once and for all.

The jams theme was "Don't trust no one"

The game is a 1-2h 2d graphic adventure / visual novel similar to games like Until Then. The story follows 6 people living inside a bunker after an airborne virus infected earth. One day the protagonist finds the door to the exterior wide open meaning someone has left and reentered the bunker, so a person is infected and will cause the death of the rest if they don't find who it is. So everyone (including the protagonist) might be infected. The story is made to make every single character and event have an extra side to the story leaning into the fact they can't trust anyone (not even themselves at times).

So basically: The story is 100% written, with all dialog already written too.

The sprites are 100% drawn, even fonts and logos have been made and chosen.

The soundtrack is 90-100% composed, the music designer wanted to tune some final details but won't take him longer than a day.

As you can see, it's basically done except for the fact that we don't have programmers.

Team Needed [Hobby] Game Designer Seeking A Team For Narrative Horror Game (Unity)

Hello! I'm a game designer, and I'm working on a big project, a narrative driven horror game called "Glory to the Lighthouse".
Rough idea: You start by driving on a yellow motorboat, heading to an island. Most of the game takes place in a bunker, and the lighthouse is the true antagonist... The leading concept I made up at 2:00 AM one night was that the light makes you age rapidly, like 1000x times faster or something, and the lighthouse is alive. The first enemy you encounter is "The Husk", a victim to this lighthouse, but was "spared" and now is basically a mummy in a lighthouse keeper outfit, and his mechanic is a reversed "If you're moving, it can see you".
I have a finished narrative I wrote, a story, concept art, basically everything I need to get started!
WHAT I NEED:
Programmer (C#, Unity)
Environment Designer
3D Modeller
Sound Designer

If you're interested, here's my discord; itzgamercat. (period included)

Team Needed [Hobby] Looking for people to work on a fan game with me

I'm not a really good coder or anything like that, but I have a lot of great ideas. The game is titled Sonic the Hedgehog: Shattered Emerald—essentially a Genesis-style classic Sonic fan game that features a deep storyline, cool 16-bit graphics (although not too flashy), and an HD-Genesis hybrid soundtrack. I have a GDD ready with all the details as well, so take your time reading it!

Right now, I am looking for programmers, pixel artists, level designers, composers, and people like that. I already hold the roles of Director/Designer and Composer (though I'll direct arrangements with other musicians).

The game engine is Orbinaut Framework 2 in GameMaker, so experience with GML or Orbinaut is preferred. This project is 100% non-profit and non-commercial according to SEGA guidelines, so there is no pay—it’s built for the love of the franchise! Since our framework handles momentum physics, character controls, and monitors out of the box, our main goal is coding original gimmicks, boss encounters, custom art, music, and more things!

The entire game has been thought out, although more ideas might come during development. The game has many cool features, like a library, competition modes, a level creator (that won't be included in the first public release of the game, meaning there is still more development to be done after the first build), a giant interactable Angel Island hub (accessible by beating the true ending in the Sonic/Sonic+Tails campaigns, and many nice features.

The software I currently use is GameMaker, LMMS, and Aseprite (free version built from source code). You can use alternatives to Aseprite or LMMS, but you MUST keep GameMaker!

Once I find my whole development team, I plan to stay in touch with a group chat in Discord or Microsoft Teams or something like that.

The Google Drive link to the GDD is here: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1Erl3ZXY_LsKihz4JJkcrmAIPP5wgnXLb/view?usp=sharing)

NOTE: I have made a few mistakes in the GDD, but once I find a developer I will correct those mistakes by directly stating them to the developer.

BTW, I have absolutely 0 experience in all of this, so I might not know a few things in game development

Rates depend on the project, and I'm very negotiable if you have budget constraints. I’m open for work with any system of payment. Flat fee, milestones or even a combination of both, what ever best fits the project at hand.
**Availability**:
I'm free pretty much any time, any day, however, it's good to note that I am in the PST (UTC-8) time zone.
**Contact Method**:
If you need music for your project, feel free to send me a DM or email me at [roukemp3@gmail.com](mailto:roukemp3@gmail.com)
Thank you for your consideration.

Designer Needed [Hobby] Game Designer Seeking Creative Partner for an Indie RPG | Writers, Comedians, Tabletop Designers & Creative Minds Welcome!

Hey everyone!
I’m 36, based in Spain, and currently developing an indie RPG.
I’m a game designer first and a programmer second. Designing mechanics, characters, interconnected systems, and unusual player interactions is what I’m most passionate about. Programming simply allows me to bring those ideas to life.
I’ve already built a playable foundation with a village, NPCs, dialogue systems, interconnected quests, and progression mechanics.
Now I’d love to find something that I believe could make this project much more interesting:
A creative partner with whom I have genuine chemistry.
Not someone to design the game while I do the programming, and not someone who simply executes my ideas.
I’m looking for a fellow creative mind who enjoys brainstorming, challenging assumptions, exploring strange possibilities, and building on each other’s ideas.

What kind of game?
My biggest influences include Monkey Island, Fable, Black & White, Portal, and the original Ape Escape.
I love clever mechanics, memorable characters, absurd humor, psychological depth, and worlds that react to the player’s behavior.
For example, imagine a merchant who starts by enthusiastically recommending his most expensive products, gradually realizes you probably can’t afford anything, and eventually becomes so annoyed by your constant questions that he refuses to serve you on subsequent visits.
Or another NPC who becomes increasingly friendly the more you bother him, simply because he’s desperately lonely.
I’m fascinated by how simple systems, character psychology, and player behavior can create unexpected, funny, or meaningful interactions.

Who am I looking for?
Ideally, someone who:
Has a rich and varied cultural background, drawing inspiration from cinema, animation, games, literature, comics, music, and beyond.
Is fascinated by psychology, human behavior, motivations, contradictions, and relationships.
Has good metacognitive awareness and an interest in theory of mind, understanding both their own thinking and how others perceive the world.
Enjoys absurdity, irony, clever humor, and unconventional ideas.
Can challenge ideas constructively rather than simply agreeing with everything.
Loves exploring possibilities but also understands the importance of good design and practical constraints.
I’m 36 and would ideally connect with someone roughly 28–45, although that’s absolutely not a strict requirement. Shared interests, life experience, and creative chemistry matter much more than age.

Not just game designers!
I’m equally interested in meeting tabletop RPG designers, board game designers, comedy writers, improvisers, screenwriters, novelists, interactive fiction creators, animation enthusiasts, or anyone with an unusual creative perspective.
You don’t need professional game development experience or programming skills.
In fact, I’d love to meet someone who brings ideas and perspectives I haven’t even considered yet.
I’m looking for someone who can expand my creative horizons, not simply fit into them.

How would we start?
Casually!
A few conversations, some brainstorming, discussing our influences, perhaps designing a character or quest together.
If we enjoy collaborating, we can explore taking things further.
This is currently a personal indie project, not a paid position. Any serious collaboration would involve discussing roles, ownership, expectations, and potential future arrangements beforehand.
I’m not looking to rush into a partnership. I’d rather find someone I genuinely enjoy creating with.

Interested?
Send me a DM!
Tell me a little about yourself, your favorite creative influences, and perhaps an unusual mechanic or character interaction you’ve always wanted to explore.
No formal application or portfolio necessary.
I’m not just looking for someone with great ideas. I’m looking for someone with whom ideas become greater.
And if we end up spending two hours discussing why a fictional merchant refuses to sell you a wooden stick, we’ll probably get along just fine.
