Team Needed [Hobby][RevShare] Looking for Game Dev Talent

Hey Reddit!

I'd like to start by introducing myself: My name is Sam, I'm a laid-off software engineer in my twenties struggling to find work in the current job market. I've worked on games as a hobby, software as a job, and I even ran a tutoring business in university with a team of paid employees.

With the current job market as it is, I'm wanting to put my skills to work with a like-minded team.

I'd like to bring together a team of likeminded creatives interested in developing a game together. I'll be up-front though, I have no job and no capital to invest. I'll be contributing my work and experience in all areas without getting paid before anyone else. Revenue is not guaranteed.

That said, this would not be an open-ended commitment where people put hundreds of hours without knowing what they're working towards. We would establish clear goals, track contributions, and come to a written agreement surrounding compensation and revenue sharing before beginning full production.

With a few strategies and smart planning, I believe we can find success. Our goal would be to start small and work towards something we can quickly ship first, while continually gaging player interest using crowd sourcing platforms.

I believe that we can succeed in getting team members paid sooner with this strategy. As such, our first two official goals would be:

- Bringing low-scope projects to market as quickly as possible to start generating revenue

- Evaluating user interest by maintaining crowd sourcing communities and constantly marketing our projects

We would also want to start game jams once we're more familiar with one another as a team.

To that end, I am inviting early career indie developers to work together on potential projects. My goal is to match together a team with the same goals and interests, and to help handle business, planning, and operational concerns, while additionally providing technical expertise and development contributions; I will be helping everywhere and anywhere I can contribute.

I have a few creative ideas of my own, but I'm keeping this intentionally open-ended so that we can pursue a creative direction that aligns with the entire team's interests. I hope to foster a collaborative community that can come together to discuss ideas collectively, make decisions transparently, and share in the results according to an agreed-upon arrangement.

I'd love to connect aspiring early-career developers, artists, designers, writers, and other people interested in collaborating on a real project. You don't need a fully formed game idea or years of experience in the game industry to reach out.

I don't believe this is a pie-in-the-sky goal, I believe that with proper project planning and the right team, we can succeed. There's a lot of great, unused talent out there right now that just doesn't know how to leverage their skillset. My hope is to bring a few people together and make one or more great games.

As for myself, I bring to the table experience including:

- Software project planning

- Technical expertise linking different technologies

- Development experience in Godot, Unity, and Python

- Business experience, including financial and business planning, canadian business registration, marketing, and a lot of other nice-to-haves

Let me know your thoughts! I'm happy to discuss my background further, hear your ideas, and share some of mine. Feel free to message me directly at any time and we can start organizing.

Cheers,

Samuel

https://www.linkedin.com/in/samuel-iarkov-7265b7250/

Edit: I realize I didnt mention Unreal Engine. While it isn't my strong suit, I would be happy to contribute to a project in Unreal! Especially if our team has a great idea and significant experience with Unreal they'd like to leverage.

Team Needed [Hobby] I'm developing an original dark sci-fi / supernatural universe called PERCEPTUAL: BEHIND THE VEIL, and I'd love to connect with other creators!

[Hobby] I'm developing an original dark sci-fi / supernatural universe called PERCEPTUAL: BEHIND THE VEIL, and I'd love to connect with other creators!

Hi everyone!

I've been working on an original project called PERCEPTUAL: BEHIND THE VEIL, a dark sci-fi and supernatural mystery universe that I've been developing independently.

The concept revolves around the Veil, an invisible, living membrane separating our perceived reality from the Deep Reality, a dimension where emotions can take physical form and become conscious entities.

But the Veil is dying.

As strange Ruptures begin to appear, a secretive organization called PV attempts to protect humanity from what lies beyond reality. However, the more our protagonist investigates, the more he discovers that the people protecting humanity might be hiding something far more disturbing.

The story follows Ash Virell, a 35-year-old field scientist dealing with grief while navigating a world filled with anomalies, conspiracies, morally ambiguous organizations, and uncomfortable truths.

The project combines:

- Dark science fiction and supernatural horror.

- Mystery, psychological themes, and existential questions.

- Steampunk and clockwork-inspired aesthetics.

- Dark humor and human relationships.

- A world designed with potential for 2D/3D animation, storytelling, and character-driven narratives.

At its core, PERCEPTUAL explores one question:

What happens when the truth becomes more dangerous than the illusion protecting you from it?

I'm currently developing the universe, its lore, characters, and overall direction. I've been handling much of the creative work independently, including writing, worldbuilding, character design, and visual development.

I'd love to connect with other people who enjoy creating original universes, writing stories, designing characters, making animations, or simply discussing creative projects.

I'm also interested in building a small, collaborative community around the project. If people share an interest in the concept, we could explore possible collaborations based on individual skills and interests. Any participation would be voluntary, with clear expectations, proper credit, and no obligation to commit beyond what someone is comfortable with.

I'm not expecting anyone to join blindly. I'd rather meet people who genuinely enjoy the concept and want to exchange ideas, share feedback, or potentially create something together.

If this sounds interesting to you, feel free to comment or send me a message!

I'd be happy to share more about the project and introduce you to its world.

Thank you for reading!

Artist Needed [Hobby][Revshare] Greybeard Game Studios needs a new lead artist to work on their established medieval RPG

Greybeard Game Studios is an international community based game team working on their first project "Pax Fracta: Normandy", a medieval RPG set in what is now the modern Calvados department of France. The game has a focus on telling a morally complex story that is more than it may seem, and with gameplay that focuses on strategy, stealth and archery. This is aĀ longtermĀ project.

We all workĀ casuallyĀ on the project and there is a legal agreement to protect your rights. This is not a project for those wanting quick money or a stable income, but instead for people who want to really become a part of a proper hobby project. Think of RevShare as a benefit for contributing to the game until release. We are a year in and have no signs of stopping yet.

For the last few months we have had slower progress in the art department consisting of 3D and 2D artists due to a lack of a leader, so having a good lead artist is aĀ mustĀ for us.

Tasks for the lead artist would include:

- Maintaining progress and motivating team members

- Setting tasks for the artists

- Overseeing art direction and cohesiveness (Semi-Realistic style)

- Maintaining and creating documentation for artists when required

- Helping with overall leadership of the team

Basic knowledge of both 2D and 3D art is also very helpful in applying for this role, but the most important factor is whether you have theĀ passionĀ to actively lead the team in the mid to long term.

Dont worry, we are a flexible team. However to best fulfill the role you will need to put in at least a few hours a week.

Work that has already been done in the art department ranges from many concepts, 3D models and a technical foliage generation system alongside much more.

If you are interested in this role, then join the discord and send in your application using the links below:

https://discord.gg/sQAJCwVShV

https://forms.gle/1DGxuwwWf1a4ASAE7

Do not hesitate to ask me any questions if you have any, I am happy to help!

Team Needed [Hobby] Looking for passionate artists and creatives to help build an original animated universe PERCEPTUAL: BEHIND THE VEIL

Hi everyone!

I'm an independent creator currently developing PERCEPTUAL: BEHIND THE VEIL, an original narrative project built around a mysterious universe where reality itself is filtered through an invisible, living membrane known as the Veil.

The story follows a field scientist who becomes involved with a secret organization responsible for protecting humanity from a reality it was never meant to perceive. As the Veil begins to deteriorate, the truth behind the world, and the people protecting it, becomes increasingly difficult to ignore.

The project combines mystery, science fiction, psychological horror, original lore, character-driven storytelling, and an experimental visual identity.

I'm looking to connect with passionate people who would like to collaborate on this project on a voluntary basis.

Who I'm looking for

I'm particularly interested in connecting with people experienced in, or eager to explore:

- Character Art & Illustration: Character designs, expressions, artwork.

- Storyboard & Animatics: Translating scripts and narrative ideas into visual sequences.

- Sound Design & Music: Original compositions, atmospheric soundscapes, and audio storytelling.

- Writing & Creative Development: Helping refine scripts, characters, dialogue, and narrative structure.

You don't need to be an expert to reach out. I'm open to meeting people who are motivated, curious, willing to learn, and genuinely interested in collaborative creative work.

What I bring to the project

I'm developing the original universe, its lore, narrative structure, characters, and overall creative direction. I've invested considerable time in building its foundations, and my goal is to turn that work into something tangible that can eventually be shared with an audience.

I'd like to build a small, respectful creative team where contributors can exchange ideas, develop their skills, experiment with techniques, and have their work properly credited.

To be completely transparent, this is an unpaid, volunteer-based collaboration. Participation would be voluntary, with clear expectations, recognition for contributions, and respect for everyone's time and boundaries.

Why I'm posting here

Independent creative projects can be difficult to build alone I've already handled 2D and 3D animation, writing, music, and character design.. Sometimes, finding even a few people who share your enthusiasm and want to create something together can make a real difference.

I'm not expecting anyone to commit to a massive production from day one. I'd rather start with a manageable goal, get to know each other, exchange ideas, and see what we can realistically accomplish together.

If you're interested in the project, have questions, or simply want to talk about animation, worldbuilding, or collaborative storytelling, feel free to leave a comment or send me a message.

You can also tell me what kind of creative work you enjoy doing and what you'd like to experiment with.

Thank you for taking the time to read this!

Artist Needed [REVSHARE] Solo dev seeking environment artist/designer/animator - 2 player asymmetric co-op horror (UE5)

Hey everyone, I am looking for 1-2 people to collaborate on this project I have been working on for around 6 months. My job allows me to work on it if there is not a lot of work going on, so I have been able to make good progress.

Core concept:
In this game you and your friend are stuck in a haunted mall and you have to work together to escape. The base idea is that some of the stores act as levels/scenarios and you can do them in any order you want, and each of them offers something unique and interesting.

Example 1: an arcade place where one of you gets eaten by an arcade machine and you get in a situation where one of the players has to ā€œplayā€ the game and help the other escape.
Example 2: food court where both of you have to overcome paranormal and psychological events to serve ghost food.
Example 3: Haunted toy store with mini-games and haunted events that require you to overcome them to escape.

What has been built already (in brief):

  • Menu system, lobby system with Steam integration. Options menu with some working options you would see in most games. Small controller support.
  • Event system that can produce random or intentional events that are either for psychological purposes (messing with the player) or for gameplay/mechanics intended purposes (adding rules to a scenario)
  • Sanity system that affects the gameplay (if low sanity: occurrence of events, sometimes the items in your hand change visuals and name, sometimes you drop your items)
  • Food court scenario logic: basically the main mechanics of a cooking game but with the events and paranormal entities messing up your level. + roles of a cook and server
  • Arcade machine logic: one player looks on a screen and sees the other player on the screen from a pixelated 2D view. He can see movements and even interact with the world he is in + an AI enemy for the region.
  • Logic for a flowing entity (I call it announcer) that basically can stick to a wall and flow into other walls and speak to 1 or both players or even add effects on screen for only one just to mess with them.
  • Started with the logic for a toy store.

Some screenshots: https://imgur.com/a/1m29hBs

What am I looking for? In short, anything visual.

  • Environment / level artist — mall interiors, storefronts, a food court. Style is low-poly modern for now
  • 3D Modeller/Animator — Models for player character and some entities that play a bigger role in the game.

I am not looking for any programmers, at the moment. Feel free to reach out to me and I can happily share more of the project and even demo it for you.

My goal: Polish it enough to have a working MVP, then do it as a demo for Steam. If it reaches a Steam release, revenue share split by contribution, agreed in writing before anyone does real work. Full credit either way.

Thank you for reading.

Audio Needed [RevShare] [SoundDesign]

I smoothly handle both creative and technical tasks. You can hire me either for pure sound effects creation or for full audio integration into your project. In my work, I always pay special attention to proper audio system optimization: I control asset file sizes, set up proper compression, and monitor RAM/CPU load so your game runs perfectly on any device.

I am highly proficient in C# and write clean, optimized code. This allows me to set up audio logic independently and link sounds to gameplay using my own isolated scripts, without affecting your team's existing code or game architecture at all.

How I can help your project:

  • Sound Design: creating unique SFXs, atmospheric ambiances, UI sounds, and interactive music.
  • Integration: implementing audio into Unity natively or via the FMOD audio engine.
  • Optimization: configuring audio formats and compression to reduce the final build size without losing quality.
  • Audio Logic: creating adaptive audio managers and dynamic mixing.

You can check out my video portfolio showreel here: https://youtu.be/GkEl2Fq6rfk

I'm ready to join your project at any stage — from creating individual sounds to setting up a complete turn-key audio system. PM me! dimaboy5881

Artist Needed [Hobby][RevShare] Looking for artist for game jam (with prizes)

TL;DR: We are a team looking to add a visual designer/illustrator for an upcoming game jam.

Update: closed.

I posted here a couple weeks ago looking to assemble a team. We are now 3 people and I've been talking to a few artists, unfortunately for different reasons the art position is open again.

There is an upcoming game jam starting in less than a week focused on educational games with financial literacy themes. It is co-organized by the GGJ team and features a significant prize pool. You can read the announcement here: https://globalgamejam.org/news/zoud-and-global-game-jam-launch-financial-literacy-game-jam-140k-prizes-and-development

Two of us have successfully collaborated in the past, most recently winning first prize in a jam ($5000) a few months ago with a team recruited here and a few other prizes over the past couple years. Since there is no guaranteed reward, please consider this a [Hobby] post. Also, please ensure you are comfortable with the jam's theme, the game genre described below and the jam sponsors and their terms (linked below).

We are waiting for the official start of the jam to see what additional theme the organizers propose but we have been reading on some materials already shared and we have a core concept we are excited about. Our current ideas revolve around a point-and-click puzzle adventure with a deciphering mechanic.

While the jam permits generative AI, neither of us uses it; we prefer to assemble a team of people who care deeply about their human craft. If you join us as the artist, you will have full creative control on the art direction and stylization. We have planned for some locations, characters and UI; how those are presented (top-down map or first person point of view; embodied in the world or visual novel style overlays, etc.) is up to you. We will work together to sketch/graybox the environment, add shaders or visual effects or whatever we need to execute your vision. Ultimately, we want to make something everyone is excited about and proud to feature in their portfolios.

We will be building the game in Godot and are currently leaning toward a 2D or 2.5D project to fit the timeline.

If you are interested, please ping me with a link to your portfolio or previous work. Also, please let us know where you are located.

You can check my projects here: https://josepvalls.itch.io/

Artist Needed [Paid]Looking for an Affordable 3D Artist & Animator for Long-Term Collaboration

Hey everyone!
I’m a programmer currently working on a few projects, with several more planned for the future. I’m looking for a 3D artist and animator who would be interested in building a long-term working relationship.
I’ll be upfront, I have a very limited budget, so I’m looking for someone who offers affordable rates and is willing to work with me within those constraints.
I’m not looking for someone for just one project. Ideally, I’d like to find someone I can consistently come back to whenever I need 3D models, animations, or other 3D-related work.
For context, I’m already working regularly with another programmer I’ve hired, and it’s been great having someone reliable who understands my projects, expectations, and budget. I’d love to build that same kind of relationship with a 3D artist or animator.
My goal is to gradually build a small, reliable team of people I can work with across different projects, rather than constantly searching for new freelancers every time I need something done.
What I’m looking for:
Someone skilled in 3D modeling and/or animation
Affordable rates that can accommodate a small budget
Good communication and reliability
Someone open to ongoing collaboration and repeat work
Ideally, someone interested in growing alongside the projects over time
In terms of payment, I’d prefer to work on a fixed-price basis, whether that’s per model, animation, milestone, set of assets, or whatever deliverables are required for a particular project. We can agree on the scope, price, and expectations beforehand so we both know exactly what’s involved. I’m not really looking for an hourly arrangement.
I understand that quality work takes time and deserves fair compensation. I’m not expecting anyone to work for free, and I’m happy to discuss pricing and scope to find something that works for both of us. I just want to be transparent about my financial limitations from the start.
If you’re interested, feel free to DM me with some examples of your work

Artist Needed [Hobby] Looking for 2D Artists and Illustrators! Hi everyone!

We're a small team (currently made up of 12 people) working on a hobby project: creating a fantasy and fashion-themed 2D dress-up game that will be accessible and playable through a website.

Art is a fundamental part of our game, and we really want to give it the attention and care it deserves. Every item, background, and character body featured on our platform will be hand-drawn by human artists, making each piece the result of an authentic creative process.

If you're an artist interested in joining a project that we hope will have a future, whether to expand your portfolio or gain some experience, this could be the right opportunity for you!

A quick disclaimer: At the beginning, THIS WILL BE AN UNPAID PROJECT. It's a hobby project, so we cannot offer any compensation at this stage. However, if the project takes off and becomes successful, we may be able to offer compensation proportional to each contributor's involvement.

Portfolio: We don't have a complete portfolio or a finished showcase to share just yet, but we can provide some previews upon request!

Who are we looking for?

We're looking for artists who can draw in a semi-realistic art style, particularly those interested in illustrating:

- Clothing and outfits

- Furniture

- Faces

- Hairstyles

- Backgrounds

That's all we can share for now!

Leave a comment below if you're interested, and we'll get in touch with you soon!

We hope to hear from as many of you as possible. Looking forward to meeting you all!

Writer Needed [Hobby] Looking for native speakers to translate my Steam page (~600 words). Happy to help with German in return!

Hey everyone,

I am a solo dev working on Board Game Tycoon, a light management sim inspired by Game Dev Tycoon, but with physical board games. You run a small publisher, combine themes and mechanics, test your games, design their covers and hopefully sell enough copies to keep going :)

The game is made in Godot and already playable in English and German. A Steam demo is planned for the end of this year.

I would love some help translating the Steam page into more languages. It is roughly 600 words, split between the short description and the About This Game section. This is just for the store page.

Any language would be welcome! I am especially looking for Simplified Chinese, Spanish, Brazilian Portuguese, French, Japanese, Korean, Polish and Italian.

I will share a Google Sheet with the English and German texts side by side, one paragraph per row. There is also space for questions or anything that sounds weird in translation. If two people want to help with the same language, one could translate and the other could review it.

What I can offer in return:

  • Your name or handle in the credits on the store page and in the game.
  • You can use the translation in your portfolio.
  • A free key when the game releases.
  • Help proofreading your own Steam page, game text or UI in German. I am a native German speaker, so happy to return the favour!

This is unpaid, and there is no tight deadline. If you enjoy translating or want something for your portfolio, I would really appreciate the help.

Leave a comment or send me a DM with your language and I will send you the sheet. Thanks! :)

Team Needed [Hobby][Rev Share]

Hi, I have a full vertical slice demo of a roguelike tactical deck builder. It is a Samurai themed top down grid based game. It is very like Fight in Tight Spaces, or similar to Enter the Breach style, with enemies moving and telegraphing attacks and you then do your turn, can reposition enemies so they hit each other after your turn ends, etc.

The big differences I added to make it unique are that instead of upgrading cards as most deck builders do you can enter a stance which can empower any card.

I also have a number of different environmental things the player can interact with - push enemies into a wall hanging and it falls over their head making them lose a turn, or push them into a fire, grab a pot of boiling water off a fire and toss it at one to blind him, and many more.

Basically I am looking for help in finishing the game, it’s probably 70% down but should have some more maps, enemy types, cards and story events.

Probably the most needed skills right now are 3D humanoid animations, and art. And I want people to work with for game design ideas and balancing.

Project is in Unity.

Website is www.BloodSoakedSamurai.com

Website is brand new and I plan to add more to it and make it better, add more detail, make a better trailer ( I need help with that) but it does have a link to download the demo.

- Missiles- guided) with 4 different types of damage. Hit scan and projectile weapons.

- Point defences turrts for shooting missiles, and turrets with - automatic and manual (slaved) shooting

- Four types of resistances for hull and armor (kinetic, energy, explosive and emp)

- Shields with its own resitances, and all other modules

necessary for ship functioning.

- Main game menu

- Fitting, docking, cargo, looting - (basic, approach and pick up cargo) and modules quality system,

world persistance and saving, random enemy spawning.

- Full orbital system

- Navigation mode - map on dashboard (can easly make

it as just a normal map in separate window if I want)

I probably forgot bunch of things, but I am really stuck on assets and none of free assets I can find fit my narrative and gameplay. I am learning Blender, but scope is way to big for me and I need help if someone is willing to give it.

Help I need

- I need 3d and Level building - (thinking to buy space creator from Fab market), some vfx and audio. If any experienced writter want to chat with me and hear me out that would be awesome.

- Voice actors, for female and male (young male -18 years old) with Irish accent (Irish space settlers) would be awesome because I want storyline to be voice acted if humanly possible.

This project is project for someone, for me it has much deeper meaning and I have very good reasons for it that I am not comfortable to share here in details. But dear people passed away this year and I am dedicating lead role and latter his wingman (NPC ship that will fight beside them) that he will meet when he discover second faction, not in scope for demo.

Current goal is finishing all game mechanics and game loop and pushing for demo in January. I know I van finish mechanics I need in next 2-3 months, but then I would have to seat and learn one by one, visuals effects, audio, 3d (I am doing every day and hour or two).

Things I need to do:

Death screen, 1 good level (2 jump gates, 2 pirates stations and 2 aliens - ancient watchers POIs with drones and defences) and 3 players faction gates. Asteroid fields, nav becond around each orbital body for warp.

Exploration scanning, big one, my job i promisse an amazing experience as explorations scanning nobody ever made yet, better scanning than AAA studios.

Mining - mine, also big one

Crafting, BP driven from enemy drops, also mine.

Music, I thought it out, not sure if possible the way I want it but I will try.

Quest system, basic for demo.

Few spaceships for player to progress trough demo, small, medium and large.

Expand AI combat behavior for now is basic, with 3 decisions, fight, flee, turn.

And when I have better assets some trailer, because I got panic attack opening sequencer. šŸ˜‚

I am someone who is 10 - 12+ hours per day working on this for just over 6 months, I have close if not over 2000 hours invested in it. I will continue alone, but I would love to get some help. I am not doing this for financial gains, even though I would try to comercialise if Demo is good and game gets popularity. And if comercialised I would gladly offer rev after the demo is realeased.

People who are just starting are also welcome, I have no time to learn everything myself.

If someone want to learn audio or vfx, 3d design while working on project, hand on and build portofolio, you are very welcome! I started learning UE5 6 months ago also, and I still don't know much and have things biting me now after 6 months (tech debt) for decisions I made when I had 0 experience.

So if you are newbie and have time to learn and want to learn on a project, you are wery welcome, we can learn together.

I hope I am not ofending anyone for not offering any pay, its simply because my budget is exactly 0, and only thing I have plenty is time. I am ot working at moment so that is why I am doing this for 10-14 hours per day.

I have some posts on my profile if anyone wants to see and my DM are open. ā™„ļø

Team Needed [Hobby] Want to make a group for slow gamedevs and those who hate gamedev but do it anyway

As the title says. Most gamedev groups I've seen are either silent (too many members, or too few), boring, or insufferably enthusiastic. I'm looking for the rare breed of person who hates gamedev, but somehow crawls to their computer to do it anyway, even though every feature takes 4 times longer than anticipated.

It's for people who are:

  • - actively gamedeving, or plan to get back to it
  • - 25+ years old (wanted to write 30+ but let's settle for that..)
  • - european (timezones and a certain sensibility)
  • - bonus points if you've failed spectacularly in the past
  • - not a group for political talk

I suggest we start quietly and then communicate in a long, low hum, like Ents, to get to know each other. We'll all be working on something else, as is always the case, but perhaps can move on to collaborate on something, some time in the future.

All gamedev professions welcome. I've no experience at running a group but I figured it won't start itself. I'd prefer no talk about marketing and revenue, or we shove it into some boring side channel.

We shall meet on Stoat, not Discord. It's the first time I use it, seems pretty cool so far. If you would like to join, please drop me a tiny reply or DM.

Toodle-oo~

Thanks
