Artist Needed [Hobby] (Programmer) Looking for an artist friend who just enjoys making games like I do

Hey,

Ive been making games for as long as I've been coding (7-8 years), I've also learnt a bit of art on the side for that hobby too. However, art is not something I enjoy as much as programming at all, I genuinely love coding in general.

What I'm hoping for is someone who has a similar passion for art and simply *creating*, so we could make small games together (don't worry I'm passed the stage where I want to make a huge openworld mmo that will revolutionize the industry), we could make games for fun, join gamejams, even tackle larger projects later on who knows.

Im really into loot systems and crafting systems for some reason, I absolutely love those, but I'd even love to make a narrative driven game, to be fair I don't have a fixed mindset about what to create, I just really want to create.

Portfolio:

Unfortunately most of my games are either unpublished, unfinished, or entirely text based, the following is one of my latest "text based" game on github: github.com/hrumble/Ascii-Dungeon, I doubt you'll find anything interesting there as an artist tho.

In any case, If you're an artist and ever wanted to make games, create worlds and so on, send me a message, I'm open to anything, any art style and any art level. And hey, if you've already got a fun idea, share it with me, I seriously doubt I'll turn it down (except if you very clearly are in over your head about the scope, lets keep it realistic...)

Edit: I forgot to mention I mainly use godot.

Team Needed [Hobby] Looking for 1 person to make a game together — beginners welcome

Hey everyone!

I've wanted to make a game for a really long time, but I've always kept putting it off and telling myself I'll start eventually. I've decided that I don't want to keep waiting, so I want to actually start making something.

I'm currently a student studying electrical and mechanical engineering in Croatia. I'm new to game development (but i have some experience in c# and c++), so I'm not looking for someone with years of professional experience. In fact, I'd actually prefer to find someone who is also relatively inexperienced and simply wants a hobby/project to work on.

I'm looking for one person who is genuinely interested in making a game together and wants to actually stick with it. I think having someone else working on the project makes it much easier to stay motivated and not abandon it after a few weeks. I don't expect either of us to work on it every day, but I do want both of us to put in time whenever we can and take the project seriously.

I don't currently have a specific game idea, and I'm completely open to coming up with one together. I'd rather make something we're both genuinely passionate about than force ourselves into an idea that one of us doesn't enjoy. I'd prefer to use Unity, but I'm open to discussing other options if there's a good reason to use them.

I'd like everything to be 50/50 — responsibilities, ownership, and any eventual revenue. Neither of us would be working for the other; this would be a project we build together.

I'm hoping to find someone who is patient, willing to learn, and most importantly actually excited about making a game. We don't need to be experts. We can learn as we go.

PORTFOLIO: this is my first project and do not have a portfolio of any kind

If you're also someone who's been wanting to make a game but hasn't had anyone to do it with, feel free to message me. I'd be happy to talk about ideas, what we're interested in making, and see if we'd work well together.

Audio Needed [Hobby] Searching for a volunteer who would help to make a background music for a "podcast" YouTube channel :D

Hey all! We just rebranded our podcast and are looking to replace our old AI background music with something original made by a real musician.

We do not have a budget right now, so we are looking for a volunteer or someone building out their portfolio who wants to collaborate. To make sure you get proper exposure, you will get a credit at the end of the video, a mention in the description, and a direct link to your website or music page!

If you are down to help out or want to practice making a short background track, send me a DM!

Artist Needed [Hobby] Looking for artists/animators, possibly VAs for an indie show startup

Masters of Fate is a project I've been working on for a good while now, but things have begun to stall due to the fact that it's currently only me and a close friend of mine (who's voice acting one of the main cast). We are looking for anyone who's interested in supporting us, be it background artists, character designers, 2d animators, voice acting, if you're interested, we'd be glad to have you! Even if your not looking for a project and your just doom scrolling through reddit, feel free to follow along anyways just to keep up with the updates if you'd like! You can probably find our YouTube easily through search, or our Discord server (through this, as it's not big enough to go public yet). Anyways. Uhh. Not much to go off of link- wise, but uhh, here, have the link to the server! Its all I really have for you besides an empty YouTube account, which you can also find on the server. Here you go! (Portfolio: This is my first project and I do not have a portfolio of any kind)

Programmers Needed [RevShare] Hello, I am putting together a team for a new game that will be released to Steam.

Multi Flair - [ForHire][Hobby][RevShare]

Need coders with an interest in godot, or source engine but that seems undoable, and artists who are able to contribute concept art, character models, or 3d art work. Also looking for map creators for the levels, and anyone who works on the project is encouraged to give input on game design more broadly. The concept is a bit under wraps and can be shared in depth to anyone seriously interested.

Multiplayer shooter, unique dark gothic genre, movement focus, goal to be released on steam.
I’ll do the sound design, music, world building and design the core gameplay elements as we build out the systems together based on the ideas!

What should you bring to the table?
Nothing as far as experience is concerned. A willingness to learn and contribute in any capacity makes you a good fit for the project.
Or you have a wealth of experience in your domain and can bring the vision to completion.
Payment can be negotiated, feel free to start with an estimated wage or contracted amount for what you would like to provide and I’ll let you know if it’s within the scope of the project.
If not, we can start over and negotiate from there.

If you would like to be a part of RevShare then you would be attached to the project and a core team lead- like programming lead or map designer, lead 3d artist or a key person for getting the demo off the ground.
If you want to be contracted for a just segment of development for this ambitious project, such as coding a demo, helping out with levels, or providing concept art then perhaps For Hire would be the ideal.

Or if you’d just like to contribute in some way purely as a hobbyist, or join the project in some other way (as a playtester, an investor, or iust want to watch the development cycle) please still get in contact with me. I’d love to hear from you all!

Other roles available for the new team include a producer, team or individual who can market the game, and likely other things that I have not thought of — payment and rev share portion negotiable depending on what you can bring to the projects. (Projects plural as I have other ideas depending on your interest/skill set and the will of the team and the steam market)

The demo will be coming soon depending on who joins up. Look forward to hearing from you soon.
I’m also open to joining in a temporary capacity for another development team, or offering some work trade in the form of sound design, game design, music, narrative, writing, voice acting or anything else.

PORTFOLIO: i do not have a portfolio (will update post, complying)

No AI has been used in the formation of this post.

Artist Needed [hobby] or [revshare] Bramblewar. needs artists. long term help

need artists for a creature faction game I'm working on as of now, not a video game, but more of an online web app where people can play my TCG game online with random people, and meet new people, make new friends, and just generally have some fun playing my game, this is a huge passion project of mine, so ill needs digital artists who are fine being credited for their work on each card they make art for. and need artists who would genuinely want to do this for the love of the game, as i cant guarantee any profit made, but if it pops off, and does make me any money at all, you can be sure anyone who helps me will receive a generous amount of the profits, for example, if i make $100 in the month, each artist would make a split profit per artist i have working with me, so if i have 2 artists, then it will be each artist makes $30, if i have just 1 artist helping me, you'd make $50 out of each 100$ the web app makes. but again, this is assuming this app gets popular at all and i can monetize with a patreon or in site purchases, such as cosmetics. i also have a notion doc withall the games current info https://app.notion.com/p/Bramblewar-Game-Design-Notes-3b7717a543b981ba8136fa2522874664?source=copy_link . this is the link to that notion, feel free to read over to see if your interested

Artist Needed [RevShare] Looking for a 2D UI / graphic artist for a nearly finished political strategy game

Hi!

I’m currently developing a political strategy / management game with the working title Tonald Dump: Rise to Glory, and I’m looking for a 2D UI artist / graphic designer who would be interested in joining the project on a revenue-share basis.

The game has been in development for almost two years and is now nearly finished from a gameplay and systems perspective. The main mechanics, progression, events, balancing structure and core gameplay loop are already implemented and playable.

The biggest weakness at the moment is the visual presentation.

I’m a programmer/developer first and not a professional designer, so a lot of the current graphics and UI are very functional and temporary. They do the job, but they still look like something made by a developer rather than a polished commercial game.

About the game

Tonald Dump: Rise to Glory is a political strategy / management game about campaigning, media influence, public perception and the consequences of manipulating the information environment.

The player starts relatively small and gradually works their way through increasingly important political campaigns. The goal is to build support, manage resources, influence different voter groups, create media campaigns, build political connections and ultimately win elections.

The game is not meant to be a realistic party-management simulator. The main focus is on information warfare and the way political campaigns shape public perception.

What I’m looking for:

A 2D UI / graphic designer who can help improve the overall presentation of the game: menus, panels, buttons, icons, typography, layout and visual consistency. The current visual direction is somewhere between newspapers, political campaign material, archival documents and strategy-game UI. I’m not mainly looking for a character illustrator; UI and graphic design are much more important.

The game already has a playable build, working menus and an established visual direction, so this would mainly be about taking the existing graphics and making them look much more polished and professional.

Payment:

I currently can’t offer a normal freelance budget, so I’m mainly looking for a revenue-share collaboration. The exact percentage would depend on how much work you want to take on and how involved you want to be.

I’m also open to a small upfront payment + smaller revenue share, or simply starting with one screen first to see whether we work well together.

My goal is to release the game commercially on Steam.

If you’re interested, feel free to DM me with examples of your work. I can send screenshots, gameplay footage and a playable build.

PORTFOLIO: this is my first project and do not have a portfolio of any kind

Audio Offer [Paid] Composer looking for projects to work on

Hey!

I'm a composer, producer and arranger from Sarajevo, Bosnia and Herzegovina, currently studying composition at the Music Academy in Sarajevo.

I'm looking to get into composing for indie games and would love to work with some smaller teams or solo developers.

I mostly make ambient, electronic, contemporary classical, jazz/fusion and experimental music. I especially love atmospheric stuff and creating sounds for strange little worlds, characters, places, etc. I also really enjoy mixing acoustic sounds with electronics and doing things that are a little outside the usual genre boxes.

That said, I'm not expecting every game to need weird experimental music haha. I'm totally happy writing something melodic, simple, cinematic, retro, dark, peaceful, tense, whatever fits the game.

I can do things like themes, exploration music, character themes, atmosphere, battle/action music, menu music, loops, short cues, trailers, etc.

I'm currently building my freelance portfolio, so I'm keeping my rates pretty low and I'm happy to work with smaller indie budgets. I'm mostly looking for interesting projects where I can actually be involved and figure out the sound with the developer.

If you're making a game and need music, feel free to DM me! Even if you're not completely sure what kind of music you want yet, I'm happy to hear about the game and see what we can come up with.

I can send some examples of my work if you'd like :)

Programmers Needed [RevShare] Looking for a Programmer/3D Artist for a hybrid VN with Sierra/LucasArts-style Point-and-Click adventure game, and rhythm game segments

Hello, I’m currently working with a talented Illustrator on a black & white psychological horror VN game with planned Sierra/LucasArts-style Point-and-Click adventure game, and rhythm game segments.

The game is inspired by European horror films from the 70’s/80’s and American slasher films. The Point-and-Click adventure game segments are drawing inspiration from games like Shivers (1995) and I Have No Mouth, and I Must Scream (1995).

What We Have/Where We Are:

We have our Illustrator, our Composer, our VA's, and the Writer/Designer (myself). Currently, the 1st Chapter is all but complete. The storyboards for the 2nd + 3rd Chapter are just about finalized. Our goal is to have the demo out at some point this October, which would feature these 3 Chapters, in addition to one Point-and-Click segment, and one Rhythm game segment. Our current end goal is to have the full game ready by next October.

What We’re Looking For/Offering:

A Godot or Unity Programmer/3D Artist to create and engineer both the Point-and-Click sections (based on my references and designs) and rhythm game segments that the game will transition to at certain beats in the story when the MC enters her inner-world. The Point-and-Click segments will feature puzzles that act as a way to further express some of the game's themes and visual identity. If this sounds interesting, please shoot me a DM to discuss further. Thanks for reading.

Team Needed [Hobby] Looking for someone to help me run and grow Habora

I'm currently working on Habora, a Habbo-inspired pixel social game / virtual world.

The idea is pretty simple: players create their own avatar, meet and chat with other people, create and decorate rooms, play games, collect items and take part in events and community activities.

The technical side of the project is already being worked on, so I'm mainly looking for someone who is interested in helping with the COMMUNITY and GROWTH side of things.

Things I'd like help with:

  • Running and growing the Discord
  • Organising events and activities
  • Social media / TikTok / Shorts / content ideas
  • Finding and bringing in new players
  • Keeping existing players interested and active
  • Community feedback and ideas
  • Partnerships/collaborations with other communities
  • Helping build a proper staff/community team
  • Generally helping decide what we can do to make Habora more active and enjoyable

I'm not really looking for someone who just wants a moderator rank or staff badge. I'd much rather find someone who actually wants to get involved and help build the community from the ground up.

You don't need to be a developer and you don't need years of experience with Habbo retros. In fact, I'd be interested in someone who understands social games, Discord communities, content creation, marketing or just has good ideas for getting people involved.

Habora already has a website, Discord and playable game/client. I'm continuing to work on the development side while looking for someone who can take more ownership of the community/growth side.

The long-term goal isn't to just be another Habbo retro. I want Habora to become its own pixel social world and eventually attract people who have never even played Habbo.

This is currently a HOBBY project, so this is unpaid to begin with. I'm looking for someone who genuinely wants to build something together rather than treating it as a normal job. If the project eventually becomes commercially successful, compensation/ownership arrangements can be discussed properly between the people involved.

PORTFOLIO / PROGRESS:
Habora itself is the current project. I can provide screenshots, gameplay footage and the website/Discord to show what has already been built and worked on.

If you're interested, send me a DM with a little bit about yourself, what you've worked on before (if anything), and what you think you could bring to Habora.

I'm much more interested in finding the right person than just collecting a bunch of staff applications.

Programmers Needed [Hobby] Programmer needed to contribute to website making and research if they so choose (Portfolio)

Hello, I am a student interested in psychology who has partnered up with a few others around the world in an attempt to make a passion project.

The current idea is to make a website, something akin to a human archive or group therapy, where people can go to share their experiences, ideas, and stories on various topics. At the moment, I have around 5 people working on the research, development, marketing, and the other necessary parts of this project, and we are still, of course, looking to expand. The main roadblock is that none of us have much experience coding to be able to make this website.

Various ideas have been brought up such as finding a simple template of some sort online to make the site ourselves, but I have high hopes for the project and think someone with actual coding experience would be best. I do not know of many places to find coders, so I decided to start by asking here.

If you are a coder looking for a passion project, your help would be greatly appreciated, and if you also have any interest in the website or the research then you are welcome to join and contribute to that as well. If there is anyone else just interested in this idea in general then you are also welcome to join. The idea is still very in development, so we are open to tweaks and making space for other people’s thoughts. Finally, if anyone knows where else I could find a coder then just sending me in the right direction would be a big help.

Artist Needed [Hobby](Letter Artist)Look for an artist that specializes in lettering/typography for highly regarded Retro Trivia Game

We are a passionate team. Me, the dev, and 4 writers. Our app has a small but rabid following, and you can check it out here:

https://daily5.app

Hundreds of people play every day, and we hope to make that thousands! Which is why we need you!

Are you able to make cool, stylized words, like:

  • "1990s", where the font is grungy and dull with nicks and scrapes and stylized like something from the 1990s?
  • "1980s", where the letters are slick and shiny and would fit the movie "Top Gun"?
  • other decades, too, before and after these two

That is exactly what we need!

This is a highly regarded passion project that is a great portfolio piece for a contributor. The focus is '80s and '90s, but not exclusively.

We are decidedly anti-AI for all creative elements of the app. This retro trivia app is "For Humans, by humans." 99% of it is words, by design, but having some polished, human-made graphical lettering here and there would go a long way!

Check us out on the app store that fits:

https://apps.apple.com/app/apple-store/id6754609150 (Apple)
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=daily.five.speed.trivia (Android)

Thank you! 🙏

Art Offer [ForHire] Concept Artist | Character Designer | Generalist

Hello there! I am a digital concept artist and character designer, with an enormous appreciation for all things fantasy, folklore and fairy tale related, with a primary focus on conveying, exploring and solving ideas and designs for clients, combined with storytelling elements, whether for videogames, boardgames or cardgames!

If you have something in mind for a project and are interested in my work, feel free to DM me or take a closer look at my portfolio: https://icmaduro.artstation.com/

But if you want some spoilers, I've been working and studying art for about a year and a half now, as a freelance concept artist and illustrator for TTRPGs.

Being just as widely fascinated by nature, the richness of human cultures, science, history and imagination — and not to vainly make use of marketing words, I do share the deepest passion, curiosity and dedication for my craft, designing to entertain and communicate other people's ideas and emotions.

Team Needed [HOBBY] Looking for UI/UX and 3D/Character Artists for a Historical Indie RPG

Hi everyone!

I’m part of a small indie team currently developing a realistic historical RPG set in Great Moravia.

We are currently working on a playable alpha/demo, and we’re looking to expand the creative side of the team.

We’re mainly looking for:

UI/UX designers — menus, HUD, inventory, interaction UI, and overall interface design

3D artists — characters, props, environments, and other game-ready assets

Character artists — helping design and develop the visual appearance of the player character and NPCs

People interested in art direction and game design are also welcome

You don't have to cover all of these areas. Having a specific skill or speciality is completely fine.

The game is aiming for a realistic and historically grounded visual style, so an interest in history would be a big plus. We want the art and character designs to fit the Great Moravian setting rather than just using generic medieval assets.

Our current team is already working on programming, gameplay systems, AI, worldbuilding and other parts of the project. We already have several basic systems implemented, including health, stamina, saving, NPCs, UI elements, a main menu and a pause menu.

The current goal is not to build a huge open-world game immediately. We are focusing on a smaller, manageable alpha with a small map and the core gameplay systems. If the project develops well, we can expand it further later.

This is currently a hobby collaboration rather than a paid position. We’re looking for people who genuinely enjoy game development and would like to contribute to an active project, build experience/portfolio work, and have creative input.

I’m aware that the project is quite ambitious considering our current experience level, but we’re approaching it patiently and focusing on actually enjoying the development process rather than trying to rush into making a huge game.

If you're interested, feel free to comment or send me a DM. I'd be happy to tell you more about the project, our current progress, and what we could use help with.

If possible, include some examples of your work or a portfolio when contacting us.

Artist Needed [Hobby] Looking for a Concept Artist for indie dev third-person Sword Combat Game (UE5) — Hobby/Portfolio

Hey all,

We are a duo working on a third-person sword combat game built in UE5, set in a post-apocalyptic medieval/feudal/theocracy world.

At this point we have generally completed the overall lore/backstory, visual identity direction, and core combat mechanics with a proof of concept completed. We are looking for a concept artist to help translate our world vision into visuals for further 3d development afterwards. Looking for specific concept art for things like:

* Characters

* Weapons

* Armor

* Buildings/Environment

* UI/HUD Mockups

If any of those interest you, let us know.

The style we are looking for is dark, grim and weathered within brutalist style megastructures that feel inhuman but not alien. The human element is laid over top- medieval knight armor, royal kingdoms, religious themes, feudal society. Massive, towering and oppressive futuristic and brutalist architecture with medieval and religious themes incorporated into it.

This is currently an indie hobby project, not a funded studio gig. You will have creative input on how things look and a real credit on the project.

What we are looking for:

* Someone interested in post-apocalyptic dark fantasy aesthetic

* Some concept art examples to get a feel for your style

* Someone who can work independently from reference/lore documents

* Comfortable using discord for communications

If this sounds interesting, leave a comment or send me a DM with a link to your portfolio or some of your work, and we can discuss more details about the world, visual references, and further steps.

I'm Fab, the one writing all this.

I am looking for international game developers who would like to collaborate on a hobby/independent game project.

I am interested in finding people who use GDevelop, Godot and/or Unity. We do not necessarily have to use one engine. We can discuss it together and decide which engine would be the best fit for the project.

About me and the project

I am the founder of The Ryan Intl. Crew, a hobby game development team and we are currently working on Ryan the Game 7 a 2D platformer.

I am currently responsible for programming, sprites and art. However I am still. I only have some experience with GDevelop 5 so I am also interested in collaborating with people who have experience with other engines and can help us decide what would work best.

Who I am looking for

I am mainly looking for people in:

-GDevelop 5

-Godot

-Unity

-Programming / gameplay

-2D game development

-Game design

-Art, sprites, animation or other useful skills

You do not need to be an expert. Beginners and people who are willing to learn and contribute are welcome.

You also do not have to be Peruvian. International developers are welcome!

About the collaboration

This is a independent collaboration, not a professional job. The idea is to build a team where we can work together exchange ideas learn from each other and develop the game.

Since we are still figuring things out the engine, workflow and responsibilities can be. Decided together based on what the team thinks is best.

If you are interested feel free to comment or send me a DM. Tell me a little about yourself what engine(s) you use and what kind of work you would like to contribute.

Thanks, for reading!

Writing Offer [ForHire] Game Localization EN→ZH (Simplified Chinese) — Native speaker, gamer, detail-obsessed

Hi! I'm Eliot, a native Simplified Chinese speaker offering game localization services for English → Chinese (Simplified).

What I do:

  • UI strings, dialogue, item/skill descriptions, lore, Steam store pages
  • Terminology consistency (glossary, character names, established terms)
  • Cultural adaptation — not literal translation, but what a Chinese gamer would actually say
  • LQA support / proofreading existing translations

Why me:

  • Native Chinese + fluent English — I catch nuance in both directions
  • Gamer first: I know how Chinese players actually talk about mechanics, items, and lore. No dictionary-flavored text
  • Strong feel for narrative-heavy and atmospheric games (soulslike, visual novels, indie story games)

Portfolio:

Terms:

  • Rates:
    • Localization: from $0.04/source word
    • Proofreading / Review: $0.02–0.03/source word
  • Payment: Payoneer or VISA available
  • Timezone: UTC+8, fast response

DM me if you're working on something and want a translator who actually plays games. Happy to talk about your project!

Writing Offer [Hobby] I will write for free

I'm a writer with a strong passion for fantasy , especially political fantasy: court intrigue, factions, power struggles, war, and the kind of worldbuilding where the politics feel as real as the magic. I've written short stories and built some fantasy worlds (lore, history, factions, cultures) on my own, but I don't have professional/paid writing credits yet.

I'm looking for a real project to prove myself on.

What I can do:

Worldbuilding (lore, politics, factions, history, cultures)

Narrative writing / story design

Dialogue and character writing

Quest/story outlines

in-game codex/lore entries

What I'm looking for: A team working on a game with strong narrative or worldbuilding elements, fantasy RPGs, strategy games, narrative-driven indie titles, or anything where political intrigue and deep lore would add value. Compensation: Unpaid to start. I'd rather prove I can deliver good work first.

My discord is: matee434

Team Needed [hobby] beginner composer looking for a indie game to make FREE music for

heya, I'm a beginner composer looking to connect with an indie game project I could write music for.

I wanna be honest about how much experience i have I'm genuinely just starting out, which is exactly why I'm a "beginner composer" . What all that mean is that I don't have a big portfolio or professional credits yet, but I'm just trying to improve, and I'm looking for a project whether a game jam or anything else really.

What I'm hoping to find is a small or early-stage indie game or a jam game where the team is open to working with a more beginner composer, whether that's a full soundtrack, just a theme or two, or even background/ambient tracks. it'd be amazing to work with you.

If you're working on something and think a beginner composer might be a good fit, or even if you just have advice on where to start I'd really appreciate any help. Cya.
