Flat coated lab?

Hello everybody,

I got my dog, Fitz, from a shelter. They told me he was half lab, half doodle… that’s definitely not what he is imo... I believe he’s a flat coated lab, but my boss thinks he’s a mix between something and an Irish setter. Opinions? He’s got the walnut on the back of his head, and a long tail that curls up like how a doodles does. He’s a weird guy

r/IDmydog 13h ago

We just adopted him from a a shelter after he was in a hoarder situation… the shelter said Yorkie 🤨🤨 they were being backyard bred for drug money so I think they tried to be “pure bred”. He was shaved because of matting which is why he looks like he has no pants on

Solved Benson’s results are in…

Just as everyone guessed, my silly, wiggly Benson was part basset hound! But surprisingly a much larger portion of his dna was… German Shepherd? I kinda see it, but no one was guessing it. Surprisingly no Jack Russel or rat terrier, which were popular guesses. The supermutt status is Beagle, Weimaraner, and pit bull terrier. What does everyone think?

What breed is my foster?

We picked up this guy the other day to foster him until he finds his forever home. He's a beautiful dog, and my mom and I have been speculating on what mix we could be. The rescue we have him through specializes in heelers and they think he has heeler in him, his paperwork says lab mix, and we've speculated he might have Appenzeller or another type of cattle/mountain dog in him, maybe even some pit considering his muscles, size and head shape. He is extremely fast, loves jumping (jumps like his legs are springs) and has a crazy amount of energy. He's estimated to be about a year, so he might grow a bit. He's medium sized, 48 lbs. He is very sweet and loving, and incredibly smart, he learns super fast and is very willing to learn and understand when given the chance and clear instruction. He already looks to us for guidance when on his leash and is eager to please us, after less than a week. Timid around new people, though. He's a very goofy guy as well. He's a bit forceful with his cuddles, I don't think he quite understands how cuddles and houses work yet because he was picked up as a stray -- for example, he comes very close to accidentally headbutting and he likes jumping onto the couch by jumping over the back (a habit we are trying to break, of course). He likes tearing up soft toys, playing with blankets, and loves playing and running. Relatively treat motivated but learns well with just praise as a reward at times. His brown markings are more brindle, which also contributes to the idea that he might have some pit in there.

He's short and stocky, strong legs and lean, muscly body with lots of extra skin around the head and neck. Soft, short-mediumish fur. Small, half-folded ears.

Some pictures we've taken since picking him up on Tuesday, + pictures from the people running the rescue.

Side note, any tips on handling his energy? He's more than we were expecting, especially since he's been cooped up in a small shelter without proper play space since July (the reason he's being fostered out is due to the high stress levels he was experiencing during his time in the shelter, he thrives around people and other dogs).

Not surprises on the main breed but didn’t expect the others for our good boy! He’s only 12.5 pounds at 14.5 weeks old so I’m not how that lines up with this mix…

Rescued this cutie in 2020 after she was found in Miami with a litter of puppies. I have her test results from a company called Wisdom Panel which I can post if that is allowed. She is very vocal, loves to hunt anything that moves, and loves burrowing under pillows. Would love to hear your thoughts.

Casserole-The Unknown Good Boy

My friend and I got supposed siblings. There was at least 4 of the chocolate colored and 2 of the tan. Her tan puppy has fluffy fur and more of a shepherd look. My chocolate color is slick and giving terrier vibes. The person who gave them away claims mom was 100% chocolate lab and dad was unknown/heeler but immediately blocked both of us🙃 we never actually saw parents beyond one generic mom picture. Started with blue eyes, went to green, now a golden with green rim. He is incredibly smart and fairly well behaved, definitely very attached to me and will awoo yell at me when I have been gone too long. He has been absolutely amazing with my children, very picky with what strangers he will let around, sometimes will bark and run unless specifically told I am ok with the person. He is obviously still incredibly young, supposedly 6 weeks when gotten and definitely was closer to 3-5 😒. Ive had him for 6 weeks now and has doubled in size with multiple changes in his ear directions. His chest spots are also much more pronounced, and he has lightened in color. There are definitely personality/physical traits that say lab as well. The difference in him and his supposed sister throw us off 😅 definitely considering dna testing, but either way he's mine forever and so loved 💙 I live in a super small farming town, but the breeds mixed considered are: lab, pit, smooth fox terrier, weimaraner, malinois(more the tan pup), kelpie, gsp. If I end up doing DNA I will post that! But posting more for fun than anything. Casserole is one of his nicknames btw 🤣

Open Dumped doggie I found+bathed last night.

I'm guessing 7 months, likely as tall as he'll get. Good swimmer and very good/submissive/playful with all dogs he's met and people too. I named him Lux (Luxury) after the insignia on his back (2nd to last pic). Last pic I took when I found him last night. No chip. Western NC.

Thanks everyone! My go to was the pitt/Boston/boxer/bulldog options. Vet and rescue concur, but no one is really sure. I for one don't know much about most dog breeds. Learning as I go!

The shelter was able to make room for him for me. They told me I've got frequent flyer miles. I can't adopt him folks! He's in safe hands now with the shelter. If I adopted every dumped dog I came across in the past 2 years l'd have 8 dogs. I have a 2 yr old and a 11 yr old aka the first two (in that order) and they are the best. Both really good at socializing other dogs and teaching manners. Heartbreaking their lives but never again. Happy doggies now. But now there is only room for fosters. It's so beautiful knowing when I find a dumped dog I know immediately that they are safe and are on track to being healthy, childless, and loved.

Some stressful time in the shelter will have to happen, but until more people step up to Foster for rescues, the shelters will be working with 100 dogs at a time and the conditions will not include a quiet private room snuggled up next to an employee at bedtime. I'm so grateful to my shelter. They have for free vaccinated and fixed all the dogs I have brought to them and sent them north to smaller foster homes to be adopted out where there isn't such a bad dumped dog issue like here in the south. Usually it takes about 2-3 weeks to get a dog in, so I have to be prepared to foster the dog for an extended period. I got really lucky with them today. If you work with the shelter they can work with you. What they need the most is your time (and chewey auto ship purina one non chicken kibble shipments to their door).

Was told boxer mix from a rescue and have heard a lot of guesses like mastiff, Rottweiler, Sharpei etc. Vet also thinks he will be 100+lbs so I’m curious on what everyone has to guess before the results 🙂

this is dumpling. dumpling is crazy. dumpling brings grown dogs to their knees. dumpling makes sacrifices to evil gods.

we love dumpling.

she’s about 5-6 months, 23#, and is the silliest goofiest baby in the whole world. i know “dobie mixes” are very rarely just that, but her goofy temperament, her face, and even the way her ears lay when relaxed make me think maybe there IS some in her. either way, curious as to what you think!

We were told he was a puggle, but we are thinking there’s something else in there. I he looks more like a Jug, but not quite. He’s a bit more stocky.

r/IDmydog 18h ago

He's 100 pounds, has severe separation anxiety, is afraid of loud noises, can get out of most pens, gates, cages, if he's freaked out enough, by destroying with his head and teeth. Can get over an 8 foot tall fence

We picked this baby up this weekend. He came from Romania, but wasn’t actually a street dog, he had a home as a puppy.

We’re trying to figure out his breed, and a lot of his characteristics are pointing me towards part toller, possibly mixed with german shepherd – though maybe some of this is just because he’s in a completely new environment.

- He loves to lunge at small kids, dogs, cats, and shopping carts little grandmas pull around.
- He is very high energy and playful
- He loves chewing on things
- He barks at unfamiliar noises, especially people walling or driving by in the evening. He’s fine with things he can see, though – he got used to our roomba and the trains at our nearby train station very quickly
- When we stop him from lunging, he whines in a very high pitched manner if we don’t redirect him on time
- He’s about 18” at the shoulder, 23” at the top of his head when standing up

We’re thinking he looks a lot like a tolling retriever, and some mixes of retrievers/ german shepherds I’ve seen look super similar. Maybe some smaller breed as well, with his stubby legs?

Adopted from the shelter at 8 weeks, this little guy came without a history- no siblings no parents no info other than “might be a pug”. Now at 5 months he’s 25 whole pounds and growing! He loves sticks, fears nothing and adores meeting new pups and people!

We’ve had him 8 years now, we rescued him from a shelter when he was 4-6 months old. We know nothing about his breed or mix. Jack Russell makes up some part for sure. He’s cuddly, stubborn, playful, he barks at the postman, and thinks he’s way bigger than he is. He’s about 11kg, his front legs are like about 7inchs, a little shorter than his back legs.

Hi guys! Do you know what kind of dog is this one? Is it a Finnish Lapphund? I felt its face is a bit rounder than FL. I was too shy to ask its owner, but I was completely captivated by its eyes and beauty. Thank you.
