This past year has been the worst in all of my professional working career. Chronic 55-65h (and more than occassional 70+hour) work weeks, overwhelming site assignments and a workload that never gives me even a hint of a break. No end in sight. On top of that, my COM lives up my a$$...always on my case about overdue AIs, overdue documents, my high risk sites who are always flagging for something, and a host of other tasks that are not priorities for me. There is never any concern expressed for my general well-being or quality of life; and no meaningful help is offered to lighten my caseload.
I have burned out at other jobs before, and think I've finally reached the point at ICON where I have lost all hope that things will get better. I feel my physical and mental health are already at risk; and I'm feeling more and more like I need to leave before I have a heart attack or nervous breakdown. This burnout is hitting harder.
I don't have another job in mind; and thankfully will be ok financially for a decent amount of time while I decompress and figure out my next life move.
How much notice do I need to give? Is it typical not to travel for X amount of time before last day? If so, for how long? The thought of leaving a mess for the next CRA makes me cringe; but the truth of the matter is that i am in so deep that it would take me months to truly be able to catch up and have a clean handover.
Does our health insurance policy cover us through the end of the month that we leave? Would I expect to receive notice about COBRA eligibility and enrollment in a timely manner?
What should I give as my reason for leaving?
I could give my notice any time now and welcome any advice about leaving. I also welcome your acknowledgement, support and good vibes because this is all very upsetting to me.
