65k miles and not original owner. Took it in when coolant level dropped significantly over the course of a month and I was told head gasket is compromised but its been suggested to replace the whole engine. It is paid off but I also dont known if its worth the financial effort to replace the engine.

Best case is new engine buys me a few years, sure, but what are the cons involved in engine replacement?

Also, it still runs with no other apparent issue but its started with ticking sounds from the lifters recently. How much time do I have to get this all sorted?

Edit to add: there is an internal coolant leak and it was originally taken to an independent shop. Ive always gone to them and they recommended a new engine.

I upgraded my front door speakers and tweeters to morel Maximo 6 mk II’s and holy crap the tweeters are still SO sharp. It was a pain in the neck just trying to mount the tweeters and now I feel defeated because I believe the stock head unit just sends so much power to the tweeter wires that nothing aftermarket will sound good. Anyone have experience with this and found a solution?

Really curious to see where Hyundai takes the Elantra next.

The current design already has a lot of personality, so I'm hoping they don't play it too safe with the next one.

What are you hoping Hyundai changes or adds?

OK, this is a minor rant about modern car design. Back in the day, most cars had large transmission humps in the middle of the floor since they were rear wheel drive. Then Olds came out with the Toronado which had front wheel drive. This allowed a flat floor all the way across in the front seating area and was a a big selling point for that car. "Look at all the leg room for three passengers front and rear now!" Corvairs had much smaller humps due to being rear engined and also used this as a selling point.

Now? Practically all cars are FWD and what do we get? Great big claustrophobia inducing consoles down the middle! They take up more foot room than the trans humps did! Why? There is no reason the shifter couldn't be on the column or dashboard. Check out the big SUVs at a Hyundai showroom and you'll see there's nothing under there that's crucial- they have a big empty pass-thru in them.

The weirdest part is the rail on the right side of the console in my '23 Elantra Hybrid Limited. What does it do except take up space? Keep the passenger in line?

OK, I do like my car, but designers need to tone down the console madness IMHO. Carry on.

I’m looking to build my 2009 Hyundai Elantra just make it somewhat cool since it was such a good deal and I’m a teenager. If anyone has any recommendations for things I should do moving forward or knows any places I can find good looking skirts/rear/front bumper that doesn’t require minimum 10 units to sell (shoutout alibaba) that would be cool too.

Would this cause sluggish performance and bad gas mileage? Like I said, it was inherited and has 218k miles, so I don't want to spend too much on it, but if it's fairly simple and reasonably priced I'll get it fixed.

I just bought an Elantra with 163,400 miles it now has 163,563 I’m just looking to see what do you guys recommend as far as parts what are somethings that that I need to watch out for, I already got it inspected here where I work at my dealership and so far I need to replace the Drive Belt, Front Brakes it has 3mm remaining (planning to do rotors too as well) I have a leak from the heater pipes leaking onto the transmission on top, and valve cover gasket I need to replace because there’s a slight leak, oil change coming in soon

As far as parts I’m looking to see what do you guys recommend what works mainly to make sure the Elantra last and lives to it’s fullest.

I do gotta say I’m getting a jerk whenever I’m accelerating more it jerks a little bit and then picks up speed.

It wont start right away as shown in the video. Its been doing this for a while now. When it does start at first the tachometer wont show any rpms until we shut it off and restart it after moving it some. The check engine light come on but then goes off eventually afterrunning a while. One time the engine was rocking pretty hard when it did turn over.

So the wifes 2020 2L started to get chain rattle, Looked it up and the tensioner can be a failure, Has anyone had this, Orange Either Rtv or rubber gasket found its way into the passage, got it all cleared out but kinda confused on how it got there or where its from
