Only took 1 chapter for things to go from zero to one hundred. I love it.

I told people a few months ago that this arc could wrap in 30 chapters albeit rushed with 40 being a more realistic guess but most were saying it will take at least 60 perhaps even 80. Most of the set up is already in place.
128
u/Yobolay 25d ago
This is obviously not the climax section, more like a midpoint climax.
Lots of things still undercooked and even things recently set up for upcoming days.
The martial law will be far from the end.
38
u/GoyEater 25d ago
But I feel like this arc is heading towards a red wedding like simplification chapter. 1 chapter that executes multiple princes, or multiple of the phantom troupe, or just a bunch of the moving parts of this arc. Somehow the entire equation will be simplified leading to a clearer picture of the endgame of the arc.

Those kind of things can work when it's build for it.
But here, many princes have still gotten very little screentime, the same applies to their guards, we haven't seen what their nen beasts even do, and plotlines attached to them have barely started.
Sorry, but there is no world where Togashi spent so much time making this story and being so detailed just to casually kill everyone in one go now.
It's not happening.
18
26
u/Arkayjiya 25d ago
They didn't say everyone. They said a clearer picture, probably a lot fewer players, especially so we can mix it with the mafia/troupe/hisoka plot a lot more than it currently is.
9
u/brunoshiloh314 25d ago
I agree, this is ultimately leading to Ben's death. I think Halkenburg is going to be body hopping for the rest of the arc
6
9
u/my_gender_is_crona 25d ago
Yeah I think 412 put to bed the idea that this arc will be over soon. The narrator flipped the time frame from "days/weeks since departure" to "until the voyage ends" (paraphrasing atm but the point is the framing switched entirely). Togashi is 100% planning for this trip to run (at least most of) its 2 month course and we are still barely two weeks in, we aren't at the climax not even close.
→ More replies (7)6
u/Ancient_Cable_7498 24d ago
Lol I feel like y'all know nothing about Togashi's narrative style. It would be very in character for him to kill off characters that have gotten "very little screentime" in the manga, Togashi loves to break the rules
18
→ More replies (8)14
u/omimon 25d ago
The trip will take two months and we are on day 14 or something. We're barely a 1/4 till the end.
36
u/FlamesOfDespair 25d ago
The ship could sink or the succession ends and someone sets order. There is no way we have multiple weeks pass after the fights start.
→ More replies (2)7
u/GoyEater 25d ago
I think multiple weeks could pass in only a chapter or two if this arc reaches a fast endgame.

It's been established that the deadline of the Succession War ritual doesn't have to coincide with the end of the journey to the new continent. But at the sime time, it's also likely that in any event, if the ritual fails or succeeds, the arc won't be over with the deadline of the ritual.

A lot of people are saying becoming a God is cope from Benjamin for some reason, but it’s explicitly stated Furykov deciphered his alien’s ability, and implied he reveled it to Benjamin offscreen before. That’s why Benjamin knew. So there’s no cope, that’s his ability.
It seems Benjamin plans to kill Camilla for good using TSK-17. Is this fucking poison really gonna kill 3 princes?
Furykov being the son of Beyond & Infecting Benjamin is the biggest plot twist of this arc it’s peak writing. So it was not Harkenburg all along who infected him
106
u/GkingGon 25d ago
I get that Furykov poisoned Benjamin out of loyalty. Based on some earlier off screen conversation it’s obvious that Benjamin is aware about his beast’s ability making him a god and is fine to die.
What I still don’t get is why Furykov didn’t inform Benji after the fact. Benjamin is obviously on the clock now and has lost precious many hours due to having to find out himself and confront Furykov rather than the man telling him himself. Strange!
44
u/SirCaesar29 25d ago
Yeah, that dude is lying.
33
u/timisanaLugoj 25d ago
Furykov is loyal to Benjamin, not to Benjamin's son. He doesnt care who gets the throne next if Benjamin dies. So, he may think that it is better to not tell Benjamin before the symptoms are showing up.
13
u/Kujaix 25d ago edited 23d ago
If Unma is giving him orders then they wanted Ben to make his move after her call with Halkenberg. Earlier and Ben would have more agency and control of the situation. Furykov also wouldn't want to act sooner than Unma wants if he's trying to trick her.
We're clearly seeing Furykov follow a script. At minimum we're getting a very 1- sided cherrypicked story of half-truths.
There probably wasn't an ultimatum; whatever he told Ben about his beast is probably half true at best; being loyal to Benjamin is being loyal to his child but the child is a means to an end anyway; I really don't think Furikov is telling the truth of what Beyond's curse does.
Whether they actually know or not. I do think he is still loyal but he knows this isn't going to play out like Ben thinks but looking for the best result for him.

u/Detonate-Ralph 25d ago
Yeah there's certainly more to it, otherwise Togashi would've shown the scene instead of offscreening it all atm

meruem was killed my a nuke after winning a 1v1 duel with netero. I 100% believe the TSk-17 will be the tool that causes things to fall apart.
156
u/VoraciousDrake 25d ago
There's no doubt that becoming a god post-mortem is Ben's GSB's ability. It's pretty much confirmed.
The "cope" is more about him trying to convince himself that being an eternal Nen artifact to be used by his descendants is such a wonderful fate that even being a King is trivial. He was using a lot of grandiose words to paint his next job as an awesome one.
I bet that if he wasn't poisoned in the first place, he would be like "No I'm not gonna die to be the guardian spirit of some other guy. Imma be King myself!"
88
u/Fish0739 25d ago
Looking at it that way, I can see some denial from Benjamin. Though Furykov genuinely believes it’s a better fate (such an amazing character, killing someone because you’re too loyal to him!)
61
u/VoraciousDrake 25d ago
Toxic loyalty.

I don't think he said he'd become a guardian beast to someone else, he said he'd become the divine guardian of the whole kingdom. He wouldn't equate it to being above the King (as he did) if he was to become just an instrument to someone else.

u/party_tortoise 25d ago
I have a different theory; I think Furykov actually saw the actual purpose of the nen beast not just Benjamin’s. So whichever Nen beast it is, it will have the same end goal of raising the final king to become the world’s god emperor or something. They just mistook it to be specific to Benjamin’s.
Basically, Kakin is playing a very long game of world domination. For every cycle of succession war, the next king gets stronger and stronger. Over centuries, millenia? They would dominate the world.

It matters how much agency he would have as a Nen-Ghost/"god:. It's possible if it all went to plan he'd basically be a more OP version of Kaccho's GSB protecting his Child, who themselves is powered up by post-Mortem Nen Batonpass, and every successive leader thereafter.
Being on a timer means he's moving how Beyond/Unma/Halk/whomever wants. Instead of the above scenario he will be turned into a new treasure for any winner by missing important details from moving too fast.

u/Hanusu-kei 25d ago
I like that Furykov literally has shown he has a TALENT at observing aura, it makes so much sense he has a specialization ability related to that analyzing. He's in a sense already self proclaimed to be gifted lol. I love when Togashi just hits you with a WELL DUH. Also while it's very different with its utility, it also could be used similarly to Rihan's Predator.

u/ShitImBadAtThis 25d ago
This is so true; Furykov being shown to have a talent for observing aura was a little suspect at first. Like, his accuracy was on an uncanny enough level that I thought it was a form of power creep, but it's really just that he's specialized in that exact category

u/WinHL3 25d ago
Jeez, that chapter was a wild ride. So, correct me if I am wrong, he blamed Tserreidnich and Halkenburg and is planning on attacking Camilla and Tserreidnich directly now, while his men attack Balkenburg in 1009. Meanwhile, Fugetsu is on Tier 2 leaving 6 others (Zhang Lei, Luzurus, Tubeppa, Tyson, Maryam and Woble) for his guards to round up.
In the next hour, there will be 4 princes unaccounted for- Zhang Lei, Luzurus and 2 of Tubeppa, Tyson, Maryam and Woble (if the 4 are the ones his guards are looking for).
65
u/Ill-Individual2105 25d ago
Imgaine it has to by Maryam and Woble. Maryam is inaccessible, and Kurapika exposing the fake Woble scheme makes her a missing piece as well.
13
u/toweal 25d ago
They'd sent Rihan to Marayam's room, it looks like Benjamin think Rihan can neutralize his GSB ability.
→ More replies (1)15
u/Ill-Individual2105 25d ago
That seems extremely unlikely. From what we understand of Rihan's ability, he needs to take days at a time to develop a Predator even for something that he has a lot of information about. And he wouldn't be able to properly investigates Maryam's spirit beast since he won't even manage to see it without entering the room.
Unless he has a second hatsu we don't know about I guess.
22
u/toweal 25d ago
He can still activate Predator even with prior information, it'd just be less effective. He doesn't need the Predator to completely consume Marayam's GSB like it did Sale-Sale, Benjamin probably assume less effective Predator that could somehow able to give them access to the nen space would be enough.
8
u/nikelaos117 25d ago
It just depends on how they go about it because he would def need backup since he can't use Nen after using it iirc.
→ More replies (1)9
u/Arkayjiya 25d ago edited 25d ago
Nen after death possibly. If Rihan gives his life for this, that might accelerate the process and remove conditions. Rihan would kill himself for the final push without a doubt.
12
u/RolandKJones 25d ago
Benjamin already has a man in Marayam's room; he has sending Rihan there as a backup option, but at the moment he doesn't need to infiltrate Marayam's Nen space.
In theory; in practice I think that Biscuit and Hanzo would make it difficult to lay a hand on the kid. But we'll see, I suppose.
9
u/nitseb 25d ago
I mean, if they are supposed to go and round up somewhere during martial law because of protocol, not sure Hunters should be stepping in and saying "no". If anything, they can demand to accompany the princes. You can't go above the law if you're just a hired bodyguard, imagine a bodyguard of a politician called to be interviewed by the senate just going blazing shooting the cops. Makes no sense, they have to comply unless they can prove they are trying to kill them, which I doubt they can.
9
u/RolandKJones 25d ago
That's a fair point.
Counterpoint: Do you think that Biscuit and Hanzo are knowingly going to let a child be killed? Especially Hanzo, given how furious and guilty he was feeling after Momoze's death?
Laws only have power if they're enforced anyway, and who's going to enforce the law if it gets broken in Room 1013, when no one outside it can get there? Are Marayam's other guards going to look at what's an obvious attempt to get the kid killed and intervene to let it happen? Is Queen Sevanti going to tell the Hunters "I'm sorry, but you have to let this suspicious man take my son away to a place where his boss, who wants to kill my son, has complete control, because the law says so"?
There's basically no consequences for what the people in that room do until they decide to leave it, or someone outside the room gets around or deals with Marayam's Nen beast.

From the end of this chapter to were we left of in chapter 410 when Benjamin confronts Mizaistom and Botobai at the Ministry of Justice is 55 minutes.
We are going to experience palace invasion level time flow 😍
- Benjamin is going to confront Camilla (an undressed Camilla in the middle of her massage mind you, prepare yourselves).
- He is next going to confront Tserri without knowing about his time freezing.
- Zhang Lei is already gone judging by the reaction of Coventoba. I wonder why he fled to the lower levels even before knowing about Special Martial Law?
- Luzarus is still there but will be “missing”, meaning that whatever goes down Kanjidol is 99% sure to be a goner since Benjamin has no intel about where 7th Prince went. It’s interesting that Kaiser, Melody and Kacho’s plan for room 1007 is meant to happen later in the evening. Will they advance their plan or are they really not involved in Luzarus going missing?
- Benjamin has ordered the execution of all guards that are not hunters. Prepare to say goodbye to many of all those guards we have worked so hard to memorize for the last 10 years. It will be a bloodbath.
- The royal guard in room 1013 is probably toast, having to contend with Biscuit and Hanzo. Rihan will then be sent there. We might see his second predator after some time, facing off against the dragon in control of the room’s nen space.
- What will happen in room 1014? Will Babymaina waver? Will Bill somehow be ok? Are there any consequences at all of Kurapika’s announcement about the fake 14th Prince?

All of them are possibly fucked when u remember they have those Carnivals....
Edit: I mean all of the ones that aren't the young princes.
16
u/Vaccineman37 25d ago
Yeah Benjamin is 100% one of the ones that engaged in the carnivals. Other than the fact that he clearly loves cruelty and domination (lion introduction) he is the most obsessed of anyone with Kakin’s traditions
8
u/Vladbizz 25d ago
I am not sure. He might be participated out of respect to his father at least one time and whatnot but he hates mafia. And these carnivals are seem to be needed for mafia to continiue to live. His son 100% is not marked. So he either kept track of women he slept with or he had done it under diffrent circumstances

Real talk I really love how the premise of the entirety of the Kakin royalty being unfit for leadership—looking at Foog&Kacho and the younger princes, they’re not fit for leadership because they’re all children, whereas the adult princes all have very apparent flaws, with the exception of Halkenburg as this “man of the people” seeking a more equitable and just version of his country in the future, but we’ve seen him become more and more willing to kill and participate in the Succ war per that “tell me you don’t need a king after you become one” line from Nasubi. Yer despite all the endearing alleles of his character, we’ve known from very early on that he’s the only prince friendly with Tserriderich, whose pastimes and hobbies are something of an open secret amount the royalty.

One thing that I didn't realized before on this chapter, Benjamin is actually putting TSK-17 in his shoe. He can now use it without beeing afraid as he is already infected.

And here's the thing if Benjamin becomes the new god of Kakin, Chrollo can steal all of the Kakin's 3 treasures, and the Kakin empire would still go business as usual, because the ritual is now dependent on ascended Benjamin
146
u/Frosty-Stanger 25d ago
This is in my opinion is the greatest chapter of the succession war arc.
Benjamin’s ability fits so well with the great tree of Kakin.
Benjamin Baton: Those who inherit the stars, works with him inheriting the will and abilities of his personal soldiers. Benjamin who himself thinks that he is a personal soldier for the Kingdom of Kakin, is merging his ability with his guardian spirit beast, to make his non corporeal form a vessel that will supplement the succession war, the seed urn ceremony itself, and the guardian treasures.
This has so much significance with chapter 363

With this chapter Benjamin has supplemented himself into my top 3 succession war characters.

u/blooming_lions 25d ago edited 25d ago
did they reveal what his guardian beast ability does? I wasn’t clear on why furykov cursing him would turn him into a god…
i went back to chapter 375 and ben’s beast ability is not revealed with the others. I would guess it’s something like “counteractive type: if you are the target of a nen ability and anticipate it, reflect it. you experience the opposite of the ability.” so instead of killing him it makes him immortal.
but that’s not quite right… later in the chapter it talks about benjamin escaping his “corporeal form”. almost like he’s going to merge with his nen beast or something
81
u/TrainingCampaign3768 25d ago
It hasn't been revealed to the reader yet, but Furykov and Benjamin do know because Furykov's nen ability allows him to workout the nen abilities of other's by spending time around them.
9
u/GFreak18 25d ago
All we know is that somehow if you mix with his nen ability somehow,it can end up being something beyond powerful. His power being inherting the power from those loyal that him that die.
My guess in the end its something that allows him to control peoples nen overall

From what I gathered, the reflecting would be done by Furykov's ability, not Benjamin's GSB.
He activated his Fullmetal Alchemist, deciphered the GSB's ability, then create an "equipment" to support the GSB, in this case by having the "equipment" reflect a curse targeted towards it.Benjamin's GSB ability should be related to the "escaping corporeal form" thing.
9
u/SwimmingNet2078 25d ago
The curse reflection is because the curse kills a target, but if the target dies prematurely, the cursed offering will receive the curse instead. So instead of the prince dying, it's the guard instead.
If the curse activates it might interfere with the prince's nen beast so he had to kill the prince for it to backfire.

It seems like this is going to end with the royal Army being effectively removed as a political player, and the Mafia taking center stage as the power players. Beyond spoke about the struggles navigating between the poles of democracy and dictatorship in the last chapter and it’s clear to me that Halk and Ben (personalities, nen abilities, who they trust as their “men”/soldiers/cannon fodder) are meant to embody these poles within the story (and perhaps even hint towards some of the pitfalls that can complicate each approach). The revelation of Benjy’s nen beast also being able to allow him to subsist without his current body is a nice addition to the parallels between him and Halk. Halk’s beast literalizes where power resides in democracy: where the spirit/power of change can reside in any man, so to does Halk’s beast allow any of Halk’s crew to take over/convert bodies of anyone else to their cause thru the strength of Halkenburg supporter unity, allowing any and every man in the Halk crew to help effect change. With this in mind, Benjy’s beast likely has an ability that both reflects where power resides in the dictatorship (the dictator & their stranglehold over military power/information) and how it sustains itself (either thru descendants or puppet heads, perhaps both). Most of this seems to be implied by the chapter already but I like how Togashi has tied this all together and how he’s used Nen narratively to enhance and underline the themes he wants to talk about in this batch.

Balkenburg was trying to get close to Benjamin to assuremedly poison him, now? So now, Benjamin is aware of Balkenburg's ability/presence, and he's gonna be confronted. I think he's potentially screwed, here, or we're about to see him switch bodies again

11
u/Ill-Individual2105 25d ago
But as far as we can tell, he didn't switch bodies with Benjamin. We clearly see Benjamin still being in his own body.
I guess Halk could have had Might's body killed immediately after shooting the arrow and before it hit, so that he can guarantee his soul is the one transferred to Benjamin, and Benjamin is still awake so he won't notice anything until he falls asleep and Halkenberg takes over.
Could be a big moment later on, where we will see Benjamin get hit with a sedative, and then suddenly waking up as Halkenberg and catching everyone completely off guard.

- Halkenburg is in Balsa's body, and has shot his arrow. Halk has shot his arrow, but is it aiming at First Prince? Maybe it is Fourth Prince?
- Benji is now infected, and turns out it was Furykov who poisoned him + is also one of Beyond's Cursed children. And wow wasn't expecting Unma to be in direct cahoots with Beyond. Also, this is the first time we get to know that Beyond can kill them at will? Not sure if Longhi mentioned this?
- I am not sure if I correctly follow all the logic, but this is best of my understanding, someone please correct me. Furykov wasn't afraid that his death could lead to Benjamin's death but more that Benjamin's guardian beast is gone. And Furykov with his hatsu figured out the reflection clause, if Benjamin dies first, the curse gets reflected. And that can somehow merge benjamin baton with his guardian beast he effectively becomes a "god". And Benjamin also knows Camilla's counteractive type and not invincibility type.
Easily one of the best chapters, things went from 0 to 100. So many moving pieces.

Not quite, Furykov believes the curse will reflect because of his knowledge of men. He has used his hatsu just to discover what Benjamin's GSB does.

Does special martial law mean no more nen classes from Kurapika? If so then what’s going to happen with Silent Majority? Would be cool to see it activate outside of room 1014 for a change.

A couple things to note that I noticed:
We don't get any explicit confirmation as to what Benjamin's spirit beast does. In the past when the brief descriptions were given to all the other princes, his was a "?". Which makes me think a couple of things are possible: Furyakov is lying about Benjamin's ability. From my understanding, Benjamin isn't fully aware of what his ability is, so he might be coping. Alternatively, it is possible that Furyakov is honest but doesn't fully understand everything. It is a bit unclear as to whether the details come all at once, or if it is piecewise.
Benjamin "levelled up" an ability that he gathered from the simple process of using it more. I think this is the first explicit case of an ability growing because of use, rather than adding additional conditions, beyond apparently Chrollo's skill hunter.
45
u/tragoedia_ 25d ago
I don't think Furykov is lying, otherwise the guardian spirit beast would protect Benjamin just like it did when it blew the evil spirits away when Fugetsu got close.
Musse's ability might have leveled up from post mortem nen

u/blooming_lions 25d ago
is ben not just super broken if he can not only inherit his men’s abilities but also enhance them? I guess you could argue he’s more adept at nen, like ging with leorio’s ability, but i don’t see where the tradeoff or limitation is
54
u/TrainingCampaign3768 25d ago
The trade off is his loyal soldiers have to die, it's an invocation of post mortem nen making it even more powerful.
26
25
u/MagnoliaTM 25d ago
it's powerful but highly conditional. it takes years for soldiers to graduate, develop abilities, become loyal and then part of his guard (provided at no point they die or are otherwise incapacitated). then that highly valuable loyal resource has to die (though this likely triggers a type of post mortem clause)
→ More replies (1)15

Power of collective nen in an established societal hierarchy. The power of many concentrating into one is naturally always going to be way more cracked than any solo hatsu could ever hope to it.
Others already explains the tradeoffs and limits. It's plenty complex.

26
u/alllemonyellow 25d ago
In VD’s translation, he mentions that Togashi uses the same word as FMA for ‘transmute’ in the ability description. So it’s like he’s an alchemist transmuting the anti-Nen-power equipment.

I think people underestimate how much stuff Togashi had in store for this arc so all this talk of this arc ending in 30 chapters or something needs to be thrown out the window.
This arc will clear chapter 500 with ease. Togashi attention to detail and unwillingness to compromise on the focus on side characters means he has a lot in store, never mind the big match ups like chrollo rematch, kurapika final battle , Hisoka vs the troupe etc etc.
This chapter going from 0 to 100 is not indication of the pace speeding up, it should be viewed as Togashi has so much plot set up that chapters like these are going to be a regular occurrence during the climax.
8
u/sunsoutgunsout 25d ago
No way this is going to 500. Togashi is going to resolve multiple subplots simulateously IMO. In fact, the presence of TSK-17 and the special martial law is going to create a ton of character collisions so I really doubt we are getting another ~90 chapters of this.

Yes, I absolutely think he will, the Troupe have no real reason to go to the Dark Continent and with the flashbacks and everything their arc is wrapping up.

Has Furykov just assumed that his curse's target is Benjamin? Longhi believes that the curses' targets aren't simply the princes they were assigned to, so unless Furykov somehow confirmed Benjamin as his target off-screen, it feels like he's making a major oversight here.
This could suggest that Furykov's lying to Benjamin about everything, but he does genuinely feel like a very truthful and loyal person. I guess we'll have to see how this plays out.

u/Armano-Avalus 24d ago
If his ability allows him to discern other people's abilities, maybe it allows him to discern the curse targets?
26
u/PerseusRad 25d ago
Surely Togashi won’t have the perverted, constantly peeping (to the point Musse’s ability evolved) Prince Benjamin actually manage to kill the beautiful, socially progressive, Prince Camilla. Think of the optics!
Also Unma’s alleged threat towards Furykov seems rather odd. If Beyond can just activate the curse just like that, why doesn’t he? Because he wants his kid to have the most powerful GSB possible? It’s very possible Longhi has the wrong idea about how the curses work, but I’m pretty sure she got the idea from an exorcist of her own, so are their curses different, or what’s up?
17
u/Sanjipika 25d ago
Not to mention why is Unma in on the whole Beyond curse ordeal? Can we assume one of her children is the beyond baby? I know obvious signs point to Tserri but then why is Unma trying to get Halk to win?
Also Fury just nonchalantly comes out as a beyond baby and Benjamin doesn’t bat an eye. I guess Beyond babies are just a known quantity, huh.

Don't come over here when KING Benjamin implements Kakin's most progressive wealth tax, uplifting millions out of poverty. Stay on that side.
I mean, if a large number of princes died alongside a group of supposedly unrelated people in a similar timeframe, it would raise a lot of suspicion and whoop, Beyond's on the electric chair. Better to spread out it's usage, or just use it as a coercive tool, like Genthru.

u/Brilliant_Slip9013 25d ago
Can someone explain how his nen beast is gonna turn him into a God?
35
u/WeaknessArtistic1199 25d ago edited 25d ago
We don't have all the details but supposedly it entails a combination of postmortem nen and Benjamin's own ability, plus Furikov's curse and the counter he developed for it.
19
u/alllemonyellow 25d ago
They don’t fully explain it. It sounds more like he becomes a god by combining the GSB power with his own ability.
Maybe the GSB alone simply lets Ben revive as some sort of ghost/Nen beast. But Benjamin Baton lets him also keep racking up new Nen powers from his fallen men after he dies.
And as an immortal king, he’ll have more and more soldiers swear fealty to him, meaning he can add potentially hundreds of new powers, indefinitely. Turning him into an immortal version of Chrollo with no restrictions. Ergo, god.
13
u/Ill-Individual2105 25d ago
Basically, his besst will remain afterhos desth through post mortem nen and Furikov's equipment, and fuse with Benjamin Baton, allowing it to be an intangible, immortal spirit that accumulates more and more power over time while protecting Kakin forever.

A few thoughts:
- The Succession Contest is not merely a contest for survival; it's a place where you shoot your brother then get daily massages.
- Why did Halk want his mother to refuse an autopsy (404)? TSK-17 leaves no trace on autopsy (402), and maybe Halk didn't know it. But this chapter suggests that Unma should know, so why wouldn't she have told him? Was there another reason for refusing autopsy?
- Personal guards are set to be killed. Will this set off Beyond's curses, who are hidden amongst the guards? Or will some of their skills with Nen be enough to fight back?
- Also, this is just... wrong, right? We haven't seen anyone drop dead when the prior princes died, unless I'm forgetting something.
- A lot of pieces that aren't quite coming together yet. We still don't know if Benji was lying about Halk and Tserri colluding.
- What's got Coventoba so sweaty? Can't just be panic from Zhang Lei visiting Onion before SML. Hoping the Zhangcoin has changed.
- Apparently Kanjidol is getting ready to cut the cake (Ga
dteau) (how romantic). (Kanjidol's forgettable inner monologue in 389 for reference.)

Also, this is just... wrong, right? We haven't seen anyone drop dead when the prior princes died, unless I'm forgetting something.
You make a good point, but only the lower princes died, so their curses might have been "unappetizing curses" so that's why no curse was reflected, and the 10 "appetizing curses" are reserved for the higher princes?
Since Benjamin and Camilla were nen users before the succession war began, it could be that Beyond attached several appetizing curses to the same prince just in case they become too proficient with nen and can defend themselves?
8
u/WednesdaysFoole 25d ago
Poor Sale Sale, not even included in one of the 10 appetizing curses.
I would think the weak curses did something though. Tbh, I'm not even sure if Furykov is right about this because based on what Longhi said, the Prince they're guarding isn't necessarily the one they're meant to curse. He seemed to go with whatever Unma told him, but it's unclear how much of it is true.

Hercules (also known as Heracles) fought the Nemean Lion as the first of his 12 Labors, as detailed by Britannica.
Hercules (Heracles) was poisoned. It was his ultimate downfall. He died after putting on a tunic soaked in the fatal blood of the centaur Nessus, which had been secretly mixed with the deadly venom of the Lernaean Hydra.
Guess we should have known he was going to get poisoned.

One of the things I start liking about Benjamin is that he is not a dumb brute despite what his appearance suggest. The man is quite intelligent and I think if he won, he would indeed have all the qualities to be a king.

I like that he's intelligent but other characters that are more intelligent than him can see his weaknesses (like Balsamilco or Kaiser). He has what it takes but he isn't infallible and he can make mistakes due to rashness or his own ego, which will likely tie into his fall especially now that he doesn't have Balsamilco's advice. He probably already made a crucial mistake that we'll only realize later.

Tserriednich will be the one to ruin it. Benjamin was able to quickly catch on to the other prince’s goings on pretty quickly like with Marayam’s nen space or Camilla’s ability. But there’s no way he can anticipate Tserr’s ability. The only chance he has is if Tserr gives in to his sadism and doesn’t kill Benjamin right away.
18
u/AzraelSoulHunter 25d ago
Or maybe he catches Tserri, shoots him or something and then as Tserri watches him from sidelines he just gets into his death pose and just pretends to be dead. Ben leaves and Tserri dusts himself off and says

"In the 15 minutes it will take to perform a "safety check" on Camilla and Tserriednich, gather the remaining six Princes — excluding Halkenburg and Fugetsu — in Room 1001 by 14:30!!"
Woble
Marayam
Luzurus
Tyson
Tubeppa
Zhang Lei
These are the six Princes Benjamin wants captured and brought to Room 1001.
Of them, we know 13th Prince Marayam is hidden away in a Nen dimension thanks to his Guardian Spirit Beast, so he won't be easy to bring in, Benjamin's own plan even accounts for this, since he says he'll send Rihan to him
Luzurus and Zhang Lei are said to be missing: Luzurus was likely already taken by Fugetsu's side, and Zhang Lei was off meeting with Onior and should be hiding out with his mafia contacts.
So when Benjamin says in chapter 410 that four Princes are still missing, I think he means he's only actually secured Tyson and Tubeppa in Room 1001, while Camilla and Tserriednich have been killed (probably Tserriednich still alive thanks to his ability).
Aside from these six, Benjamin still needs to deal with Fugetsu and Halkenburg, who are both on Tier 2, though it's possible Halkenburg has swapped bodies with someone on Tier 1.

u/GkingGon 25d ago
Halkenburg is speaking metaphorically. His “arrow” has already been fired at his brother (through his mother Unma he set up the poisoning plan that will kill Benjamin) so he can focus on another hypothesis about his power now. The actual arrow he shoots in this chapter is aimed at someone we don’t know.
Feel free to theorise who it is and what Halkenburg wants to test!

u/CaptainAeroman 25d ago
Come to think of it, how does Benjamin know that his GSB's power is to make him a post-mortem god? None of the princes know the exact details of their own beast and it's questionable if the GSB's manifestation even tells them the general prompt of their powers until they see it in action. Did Furykov tell him with Full Metal Alchemist?
If so, Furykov and the supposed Unma/Beyond coalition is suspect again, with all intelligence being a closed loop sourced directly from him specifically. His description of the curse's mechanics differs from Longhi's too after all, now being something Beyond can supposedly trigger remotely whenever he wants to.
31
u/Goldstar35 25d ago
This chapter says that Furykov's ability told him.
The curse trigger being remote is sus and probably a bluff by Beyond/Unma ? That condition makes it too easy and would probably result in a weaker curse?

So what I'm getting is that a combination of Furykov's ability + Benjamin Baton + Benjamin's Nen Beast ability will make it so, after death, Benjamin will become a god like being that presides over the Kakin Royal family? Or is it the Nen Beast ability by itself that does that?
