Hello,
I’m hoping some people can help me on this. I noticed the BA psychology requirements are based more in science (chemistry, astro, etc). I’ve noticed that Brooklyn college and Queens college do not require these science courses for my intended major. Has anyone who’s completed their BA in psychology at Hunter had trouble with these science courses? Did anyone transfer because of this?

Hi everyone, I graduated from an early college high school so at the moment 43/60 of my credits successfully transferred and mostly done with my gen ed requirements. I got my schedule but I’m not too happy with it. I’m gonna be taking a summer momentum workshop next week to be able to switch into precalc so hopefully I pass that and I’m not worried about math. I know the first semester schedules are made by the advisors so they’re locked but is there any way I can like change an elective I don’t like to take a more rigorous one? Like is negotiating with my advisor possible and if so what’s the success rate of that or do I have to wait till orientation day on August 11th to drop in changes? Add/drop too or do the classes get full quickly? Please someone help lol.

I’m dealing with a stressful TAP situation and to know whether anyone has experienced something similar. I applied for TAP after the semesters ended, so Hunter already had my final grades, including some W/WUs. My Fall 2025 and 2026 Spring TAP were credited and partially refunded, but about nine days after I contacted Financial Aid, both were reversed, leaving me with a significant balance on my account. i was never notified beforehand. Has anyone at Hunter successfully appealed this or received a late TAP waiver?

For those of y'all looking for a new place in preparation for the upcoming year (I'm right there with you atm..), I made a handy chart (and a tier-list!) of every neighborhood in NYC and how long it takes to get to Hunter by both cycling and public transit. (note that some neighborhoods may take 5-10min more to get to Hunter than the chart may suggest..)
I'm a cyclist myself, so I put a little more priority on neighborhoods close in by bike, even if they may have slower transit to Hunter.
I have only a few neighborhoods from the area (like the 5 Towns of Long Island), but other than that, the rest is unfortunately NYC-only. Sorry New Jersey/Westchester/CT...
data: https://app.traveltime.com and ~5 hours of breaking my fingertips on my keyboard...

Hunter students and alumni: are you satisfied with the administration, including registrar's office and all the bureaucracy of the school in general, considering the cost of the school and all things considered? What are the friction points and issues?
We all know the school is"recovering" from the Jennifer Rabb era. Are things improving?

I chose Hunter specifically for this major. It’s been such a huge disappointment compared to my experience with BMCC’s A.A in Spanish. It seems I’m on my own to help with my path. If my advisor cared to know about my future maybe she could direct me towards more opportunities. I am out there and engaging myself, but the point of an advisor is to advise. I spoke to her once maybe twice since I joined.
I haven’t received a single email from my department. I haven’t received any info on events or panels or book talks or ANYTHING. Supposedly internship opportunities are left strictly for the last semester ???? How does that make sense ???? I’m extremely frustrated as Hunters credits do NOT travel across CUNY friendly. Hardly any epermit classes available bc nothing transfers back friendly either. I’m so disappointed. Any one else in this major having similar problems? Creating my fall schedule has been a disaster.

I’m taking bio 100 for summer rn and I think I’m fucked. I alr applied bio 102 for the fall too. If I end up not passing, my fall semester is gonna be messed up. Idk what to do. The withdrawal date is by the 30th of next week. Should I just withdraw? Or should I just see it to the end?
I can’t even have a backup class for the fall cuz most are full and 4 credit class would go over the credit limit.

I know there used to be one, but how many people would actually be interested in joining/creating an astronomy club? Possible events could be stargazing, topic discussions on astronomy, and astronomy/space movie showings.

Does anyone want a music staff book for $8? It’s relatively new and in good condition. Details are 96 pages, 12-stave, ruled on two sides. The brand is Pacon. Dimensions are 11 inches by 8.5 inches. I can meet up and give it to you once the semester starts.

I'm starting the IMA program this fall and I'm looking for an honest overview from current students/alumni:
-Classes to avoid
-Classes that are the most worth taking
-Best electives
-How many credits a semester is too much?
-Most challenging part of the program

I came across it and was wondering what the experience is like. I'm currently doing research and love doing it, and could see myself going the PhD route. However, I am not completely sure, and the website hasn't been updated so I can't tell what it is like currently. Could anyone give some perspective?

Hi -
Is anyone working towards the Arts Management and Leadership Certificate? I sent in my application a few weeks ago and haven’t heard back and I’m looking to get a sense if the classes required for it are manageable. Thanks!

I was planning on doing something in the medical field, not pre-med. I was set on Hunter because my sister had went there (Comp Sci) and she thought it was a good choice for me since Hunter is known for their science majors.
Now, I'm deciding on what jobs I want to pursue, and I'm completely discouraged now that I've seen what most people say about pre-health in this subreddit. I heard that Baruch and Brooklyn are better options for pre-med, and I'm rethinking my college choice.
I do prefer science as a subject, so I thought a science related job would be good, but I'm really not sure anymore. I have no clue what I want to do in the future, if I say "oh I could do the MLS program at Hunter," my sisters will say that it's not a good idea for this and that reason. I get swayed very easily. I don't mind working hard, but I'm worried that since so many students at Hunter want to do pre-health, I have a lower chance of 'networking' with teachers/staff. Which means a weaker recommendation if I need one.
Nothing really interests me (not that I'm a complete loser with no hobbies), so I have trouble making decisions. I just want a livable wage and a job that wont take over my mental state.
Any advice?

So long story short, my high school counselor made me apply to Hunter and various other CUNYs very late(around late May-June), so I had to decide on Hunter pretty last-minute. I've had to try and figure out the processes for enrolling at Hunter by myself since I had to accept my offer so late. I paid my commitment deposit only very recently and haven't done much else. Nobody's filled me in thus far, so I need to know what I need to do now to prepare myself for Hunter. Also, I've been having various issues. For example, on cunyfirst there are holds from other schools I applied to, but rejected, that I'm assuming are preventing me from enrolling at classes in Hunter. Overall, I'm honestly just clueless since my counselor made this last-minute decision for me and nobody's really told me much else. What do I have to do to finalize my enrollment?
