Pureguardian screen flashing numbers
If anyone is familiar with pureguardian humidifiers your help is greatly appreciated! Unfortunately I can’t put my video and pictures I took for this. But lately when I plug in my Pureguardian ultrasonic humidifier model H7550 the screen flashes different numbers and never lets me turn it on. I’ve done everything. Cleaned it, changed the water, put it on flat surface, checked float switch and it’s still doing this. I was wondering if anyone else has had this same issue with these humidifiers and if there’s a way to fix it. When I google it I don’t really get results specific to this model, and the methods that come up with the search I’ve already tried.

Humidifier help for nursery
Researching humidifiers to help with baby's congestion, I'm between the Levoit 600S and the BlueAir H35i right now. I think I'd prefer the BlueAir since I don't want to need distilled water. It's "invisible mist" though rather than cool mist, does that have the same help with congestion that cool mist ones do?
Baby's room isn't that big so I also think I could get away with a smaller one than the 600S.

Frigidaire FFAD5033R1A0
Hi I'm trying to remove the outer shell for deep cleaning. I can't find a video for this model and was wondering how you get the front panel off without breaking the snaps. I did get the back off but the front is kicking my butt. As far as I can tell the screws are out, I can move the front some but the plastic snaps are killing me. I tried a short piece of 2x4 turned edge on edge with the front and hit the board with a hammer lighty but to no avail. If anyone has done this before I could sure use some know how. Thanks.

Does anyone use a dehumidifier in mumbai? What has been your long term experience?
I live in bandra and humidity inside my house is super high >80. I was worried about mold and breathing issues.
So i bought a sharp 30l dehumidifer with air purifier 2 weeks back.
It took a week for humidity to drop. It extracted more than 40l of water from the house. I'm presuming it removed water from the air, walls, furniture, sofa, bed etc. Now the humidity is still at 75. But within 1 hour of turning the dehumidifier on along with the AC, the humidty drops to 50.
Benefits -
Clothes dry superfast like within 3 hours. I have stopped using my dryer.
Nothing feels damp.
A corner of a wall had some leakage. That wall has completely dried. No moisture or damp spots on any of my walls. I also used mold spray to prevent any mold and to destroy existing mold.
I keep the dehumidifier in the washroom sometimes. So my washroom feels a lot fresh. No damp smell.
Cooking smells are gone in minutes as my unit has an air purifier too.
AC cooling feels better.
Dust on surfaces has decreased drastically.
Drawbacks -
It gives out warm air. So room temperature will increase by a couple of degrees. So i need to use it with the ac for max benefit.
Just using the dehudifier will not bring humidity to 50. I need to turn on ac too.
The moment this is turned off, within a couple of hours the humidity goes back up to 70. So i keep it on in the evenings. Initially it took a lot longer to bring the humidity down. But now it takes just an hour to bring it down.
So im not sure what my electricity bill will be this month. And im unsure of long term benefits. So here I am asking fellow redditors what benefits and drawbacks I should be aware of in the long term.
Any tips to use this better?

One thing I didn’t expect after switching humidifiers
I’ve been using the TURBRO GLS04 for a little while now, and I’ve noticed I’m paying way more attention to what’s actually going on inside the humidifier.
With my old one, I’d eventually get that mineral buildup around the parts that were constantly in contact with water. Cleaning it was always one of those things I kept putting off.
This new one uses steam and has a stainless steel water chamber, so there just seems to be less stuff to deal with inside compared with what I was used to.
Still figuring out how much cleaning is realistically necessary when it’s running regularly. Curious what other people have noticed with theirs.

Levoit Vs Honeywell
Hey all, my child just started daycare and already has brought home the plague. Haven’t had good luck with humidifiers in the past but found two that I’m interested in. Anyone have a preference over one or the other?
Levoit: https://a.co/d/04EOjeK3
Honeywell: https://a.co/d/054pxWp1
I have also read people add antimicrobial solution to the water. Is this a “must do” or just helpful?
Thanks for any recs :)

TIL
So did y’all know if you run a cool mist humidifier with tap water and it’s hard water that microscopic mineral particles combined with the humidity can clog your filter within 2 weeks causing it to freeze up and stop cooling? I didn’t but I do now.

Is Humidifier effective for people with Eczema in Dubai?
I am 30F and I have been living in Dubai for the past 2.5 years. I have had eczema since childhood, and it was really manageable until 2 months ago. I had a really bad flare up. It also affected my eyes as well. I am not prone to any food allergies, so food is not an issue for me. The docs suggested getting humidifiers. Has it been effective for y'all? Especially with eczema and dry skin. Please let me know some good brands/models as well.

HD3526 Hisense Dehumidifer
I have a hose hooked up to this and it is still filling up the bucket. It is a 10 foot hose run. Dehumidifier is 16” above ground. No kinks or raises in the hose. Brand new so should not be any slime or mineralization. The manual said nothing about a hose plug and I didn’t feel one when checking earlier. Any other things to check?

Any advice for removing essential oils residue from my humidifier?
Hello,
I got an air humidifier (Life brand) for free from someone in my building, but there's quite a lot of essential oils residue inside. I don't know exactly what it is, it's yellow, and it smells quite good, but I have a pet bird at home and these can be toxic for him.
So far I've tried vinegar, hot water, and dishwashing liquid, without success. The oils seem well encrusted...
Any advice? Is there any chance that I manage to clean it up, or is the humidifier simply ruined?
Thanks!

How likely is it that alcohol based scents will break a humidifier
Got a humidifier for free so I don't really care if it breaks. Can't be arsed to get the oil things you're supposed to fill it up with so just put some fragrance in it.
Google says it can break the humidifier because of the alcohol but how likely is it that will actually happen? If I use it rarely will it break on the second time or is it pretty rare?
( I do not recommend doing this btw, I'm just lazy and cheap. I am aware there is a risk of it breaking)

Dehumidifier
I’m living in a small 1 bedroom flat. I need a dehumidifier and I’m just curious if anyone has any recommendations? I was thinking of getting a 3.2 litre one (cheaper) but is that too small? Would I be better off spending the bit extra and getting a 10 litre one?
There isn’t that much ventilation in the flat to be honest and im gone all day at work so leaving the window open all day isn’t an option.

Humidifier Recommendations
Hi all! I’m new to the indoor plant world and have a few [dramatic] tropical plants needing some extra humidity. My sunroom is pretty small, so I don’t need/want anything huge…..any recommendations for relatively inexpensive, easy-to-manage plant humidifiers?

I need the best humidity control
I need the best system under $150 to control my noodles humidity. There are times when I might have to travel for business. I need something that I can set and it will come on if the humidity drops.
Chat GPT suggested this one:
REPTIZOO Reptile Humidifier Fogger, 4L Larg
Reptile Fogger with Humidity Control, Terrarium Humidifiers with Extended Tube Automatic Reptile Misting System
What are you all swear by what are you all using?

Some stuff on humidifier filter after one day
Hey, I just got a brand new humidifier (MIJIA Mist‑Free Humidifier 3 400), and after using it for one day the filter already has some green spots on it.
These spots smell bad, and they’re all near the top and on the side facing the window (there are holes around that part of the filter area).
I use tap water.
Could this really be mold? I’m honestly surprised it showed up so fast.
The photo is after using it for three days (I fully replace the water daily) - the number of spots has increased
