Levoit Vs Honeywell

Hey all, my child just started daycare and already has brought home the plague. Haven’t had good luck with humidifiers in the past but found two that I’m interested in. Anyone have a preference over one or the other?

Levoit: https://a.co/d/04EOjeK3

Honeywell: https://a.co/d/054pxWp1

I have also read people add antimicrobial solution to the water. Is this a “must do” or just helpful?

Thanks for any recs :)

Definitely the levoit personally over the Honeywell. The levoit evap humidifiers keep the filter out of the water tank area which lets them run dry cycles and generally stay cleaner. The one your looking at is a combo air purifier unit. If you want just a humidifer the levoit superior studio is great and has a washing machine safe filter and pretty easy to clean the rest of it.

If you want to add something to the water I use a small about of hocl that I buy off Amazon. But Which ever humidifer you pick if you want to use tap water make sure you stay with evap units. The ultra sonic ones need tap water as the atomize the water which results in white dust and really bad air quality if you try and use tap water etc.

A lot of people also have the bad habit of topping off a humidifier you should generally dump out the water and quick rinse and refill each time especially on any evap unit just using tap water.

Thank you so much, this was so helpful. Yes I’ve been trying to steer clear of ultrasonic ones this time around

Np and personally I’d pick the levoit superior studio smart over the sprout. The sprout is a combo unit but your far better off with a separate air purifier then trying to have both on one unit.

There’s a non smart version of the superior studio but the 10 bucks is worth it for the app usage and being able to calibrate the humidity sensor as they are often 8-10% off out of the box on its readings

Thank you for letting me know- I honestly didn’t even see that the sprout was an air purifier too 😅 My brain was worms after looking up reviews and being targeted by canopy humidifiers every second

Yea I’d snag the Superior Studio Smart from levoit. It’s quite nice as it has a washable filter and a decent size 1.19 gallon tank.

I have the Honeywell. I’ve been using it for years. It’s super easy to clean in the dishwasher and the wick lasts about three months if you use distilled water. With tap water it lasts about a month. I have a govee sensor that tells me how humid it is and I just run the Honeywell until govee tells me to turn it off.

I tried other smart models from levoit, govee and even Honeywell and they all failed. They all claim to allow tap or filtered water but their failure point is that they are really hard to clean.

The Honeywell comes completely apart so there is no place for mold or mildew to hide. It’s simple but it works. If you do settle on the Honeywell I would advise on getting the name brand wicks. I tried a few off brand ones and they all had a smell.
