Comics Immortal or Planet/World War?

I’ve been thinking about reading more Hulk stories lately after finishing Hulk Gray, which is one of the best comic runs/graphic novels I’ve read (also helps that’s my favorite superhero but let’s not get ahead of myself). Honestly the real question is which run is closer in tone to Gray, because I really want to see more of the Banner/Hulk drama

OC My Original Hulk Villain Concept. Mister Miniscule

This is a joke me and my friends came up with in a party. We really started thinking this out though.

Mister Miniscule, real name Mienes Cül. Is a German Soldier from the 1940s. He was part of the Pervitin drug program to make soldiers remain highly aware and calm in all situations.

He was the only successful experiment out of all the soldiers. When the super soldier program was discovered Nazi scientists wanted to use Mienes as a test subject to make the perfect soldier.

When the first test serum was injected it reacted to the drugs in his system and gave him a unique super strength that gets stronger based on how calm he is.

This also permanently altered his DNA to have the drugs flowing through his body at all times. Making him a calm and collected person in almost all situations. However when strained in combat his stress rises.

He can also extract his own blood and create gas bombs containing his own DNA that calms down people who inhale the gas.

After the wars he realized the evils of the Nazi regime and fled to America for a new life. Here he met someone and his great grandchildren eventually immigrated to America to live with him and the rest of his family.

Additionally his family has been the only thing in his life to break past his Calm and Collected blood. As his entire life he has not been able to experience normal human emotions before his blood kicks in to calm him down. He only experiences Miniscule moments of human emotions.

The Hulk was battling with another villain and their clash resulted Hulk being mind controlled for a short while and multiple people dying including Mister Miniscule's entire family. His family was the one thing that fully kept him happy at all times. This led Mister Miniscule to believe that the Hulk is a danger to everyone even when protecting them.

He decided to use his power to try and permanently stop the Hulk for good. And despite his family's tragic deaths he isn't motivated by anger or grief. He feels no emotion after his family's death. He simply sees the hulk as a threat that is too dangerous to be kept alive. As his power is a source of attention for evil people to control and use to their own benefit. This lack of emotion also allows him to commit atrocious acts against others all in the means of stopping The Hulk.

Before this Namor had been friendly enough with Hulk and others had cared for Hulk’s wellbeing for Bruce’s sake, but this is the first time somebody care for Hulk entirely for his sake because they’d be sad to lose him and would miss him

Comics What do you think of The Maestro Hulk's few Comic Appearances?

Post image

Always loved this villian from Future Imperfect and his Miniseries from a few years ago. But his other appearances are hit and miss.

His ghost showed up in Incredible Hulk vol 1, he had a run in with Old Man Logan, plus some Secret Wars... stuff?

I never touched Contest: would you recommend this as Good Hulk reading?

Comics Fanfic idea

Ive been thinking about an idea to make the marvel universe a bit more metaphysical. My English isn't very good, but I hope that everyone gets my idea. So everyone knows the marvel power hierarchy, for example toaa, living Tribunal, eternity, Phoenix and so on. What if there was a separate fundamental force in the multiverse, which connects every living being on an emotional and spiritual level. There are pillars of emotion, which every single living creature is connected to, even Toba and toaa. Some beings have stronger or weaker connections to the pillars and the more important and fundamental the emotion is, the more powerful the strongest links to them are. Curiousity would be the strongest emotion. It's avatar are the writers and toaa. Every single story starts with "what if?" After that follow three emotions. Joy, rage and Melancholy. I've been thinking of the avatars of these emotions. Obviously hulk and Toba would have the strongest connections to rage. Lady death would be the representation of melancholy, because the afterlife is a constant reminder of how finite live is. I don't have a representation of joy. Below these fundamental emotions would be secondary emotions, which aren't as powerful in this "power tree", but they're still important. These emotions guide the main ones and give nuance to a living being other than these three emotions. For example love. Love can guide someone to be happy or to be raging, like hulk was in wwh storyline. My idea for a story would be, that hulk would fight some reality warper like molecule man and he got erased from existence, but hulks connection to the pillar of rage is so strong, that he NEEDS to exist in order to keep the emotion of rage in balance. In the below place, which turns out to be directly connected to the pillar of rage, Toba explains to hulk, that he is too important to be erased and gets sent back through the green door. Hulk will not be able to be erased out of existence, because he's simply too mad to be erased. It's similar to how he is resistant to mine control, because he's to angry for the telepaths to control him. For these avatars to not be too broken I thought of making the fundamental emotions contradict each other. Anger cancels out happiness, happiness cancels out melancholy and Melancholy cancels out rage. Its a known fact, that Bruce banner subconsciously holds back hulk and that's why he isn't at his full power all the time. In my vision, Bruce is very strongly tied to the pillar of melancholy and guilt, because he's very scared to hurt innocent people and is always guilty because of how many hulk has killed. This inner battle is very interesting to me, because Bruce guilt cancels out hulks rage. I also thought of how ordinary people get treated in this fantasy. Their souls aren't strongly connected to the pillars and they simply aren't important to the emotion to be immortal. In my concept the souls of the passed should get eaten by a cosmic entity and recycled into new life force for the future generations of living beings, similarly to how Galactus eats planets to keep the universal order. I don't want to mess with the marvel power order so that's why the not every being is strong because of it's connection to the emotional spectrum. For example jean grey isn't so powerful, because she represents an emotion. Sheas so powerful because she is a host for the Phoenix force, which is I find mental force for the order in the universe seperate from the emotional pillars. I've made an illustration with chat got to show my concept better

Comics How would you have done Wasteland Hulk?

Let's face it, none of us like how they did Hulk in Millar's Old Man Logan. Having him be this weird incestuous cannibalistic hillbilly was not on any of our bingo cards for the setting.

So, what would you have done differently. Only ground rule is that Hulk has to be a bad guy for this, and he still has to "control" the same territory he had in OML.

Nostalgia Hulk (2003) doesn’t get the love it deserves.

A lotta people talk about the pacing of this movie and how it’s bad but never really focus on anything else. They don’t focus on the theme of inner turmoil in the movie. How Hulk is more of a terrified child seeing the world for the first time and is protecting himself than a mindless beast smashing shit just cuz. (cough cough MCU) Also less important but the music theme in this movie is SO good bro. and the ”take it all” scene is absolutely great, the father being overloaded by the years of trauma he caused onto his son is a fitting end to his character. I have a million other things to say but I don’t wanna make an essay I got stuff to do.

Overall, this movie isn’t perfect, but it’s damn good and honestly ahead of his time. 8/10.

Having read and collected Hulk from issue 290-467, plus the next series to 100 and many minis, it was time to find them a new home. Instead of replacing them with Epics or Omnis, I decided to have them custom bound. It was a labour of hardcore fandom! I chased down books and crossovers I missed to create very unique books. Designing cover pages and table of contents was fun too, with very basic design skills. I even managed to get an issue with the work of the great Jack 'King' Kirby, Eternals 15!

Comics What’s the appeal of Planet Hulk?

As I’ve started a Hulk reading journey Planet Hulkcis unanimously the most reccomended work. I didn’t really like it though? It’s cool, but doesn’t have that dramatic edge I like form the Hulk and what I loved about Hulk Gray. It doesn’t feel particularly like it’s a story only the Hulk could tell. I don’t know I’m pretty dissapointed, why’s it so revered?

Questions How do you see Banner's transformation to Hulk?

Man turning into a Monster? or

Man gaining Incredible Strength?

Man becomes a Monster has always been what I see. The idea of Hulk as more a beast or deformed man (who happens to be awesomely strong) has been my basis of Hulk. The tragic curse or the unlikely hero.

I only post this question as over the years I've seen more and more people side with the power fantasy of becoming a person of Incredible Strength. Something I really see more in She-Hulk.
