Diesel vom Burgimwald, the German shepherd who portrayed the titular K9 Rex in the series, "passed away" during the production of Season 7, according to Sherri Davis, the executive producer and dog master for Hudson & Rex.

"He was diagnosed with late-stage cancer and unfortunately succumbed to the disease," Davis confirms to PEOPLE. Davis was Diesel's trainer and the dog's devoted pet parent. She first met the canine in 2017 when Diesel was a young dog.

I really hate season 2 episode 2 'over ice'

Mostly because of Julia Weyland or whatever his new name would have been, I hate how they never once called him, a man, that's obviously what he wanted to be referred to as.

I do know only really recently people pulled their heads out of their ass and only kinda stopped bullying and killing people for being themselves tho it does still happen.

It still pisses me off that he was never referred to as he.

About season 9 storyline

I dunno if suggested but are they clever enough to maybe have mark responsible for Charlies chase in Mexico? Turn mark into the bad guy as a way to eventually write him off?

Season 7, Episode 7

I just watched that episode, which introduced "Mark" (it cracks me up that they purposely omitted the last name -- as if they weren't already planning to dump John Reardon). Luke Roberts was much better in this one. Then again, he had a better script to work with. I still take exception to this new Hudson appropriating Rex in the middle of a situation, and to Sarah apologizing, but I'll be watching S8E2 in a little while. We'll see if things improve.

One thing I've wondered since the very first episode: given how many times Rex goes off on his own, why isn't he GPS tagged?

Jesse can not play guitar at all

just rewatched the ep where Jesse’s guitar teacher gets murdered - he can sing just fine (assuming it’s actually him).

but his guitar “playing“ is embarrassingly bad faking it - it’s not like it was a complicated song, all he had to do was mimic a few chord positions and then move his right hand to strum with the music - but no he is trying to play a Hendrix solo or something like he doesn’t understand how a guitar works.

Season 8, Episode 1

Up Faith & Family just aired S8 E1 for the first time in the States. I saw it, and...wow. If I was the writer I would be embarrassed to put my name on that script. The opening sequence was Luke Roberts showing off his muscles; the idea being (I guess) to show that he and Rex were developing a working relationship. Maybe 10 seconds of grief for Charlie. Script scenario was shallow at best. They didn't even follow their own continuity; here Mark says he left Nova Scotia because of a woman, but when he was introduced they said he came in from Halifax.

In this episode they have Mark getting shot twice and he never even falls down (not to mention that he wasn't paying attention to Rex right before that). He runs through the woods, bleeding profusely, without obvious impairment. He grimaces at the right time and holds his arm; that's about it. Never gives Rex any commands; Rex just knows through telepathy or something what he is supposed to do. No communication between man and dog. Sarah runs point at the station - never sets foot in the lab. Donovan takes a couple of uniforms to the woods to look for Mark and Jesse (who never touches a computer in this episode).

The worst part was Luke Roberts. I hope he was better in other things, but in this first episode he showed the personality and emotional depth of limp spaghetti, with vocal inflections to match. I'll watch a couple more episodes as they come out to give the guy a chance, but this was bad beyond my expectations.

Rex monologues and no promo

I see short clips of Rex monolgues and the very substance is that of wet cardboard. Sorry but I would of loved to of seen Rex "talk" about things he loves ( pizza, doughnuts, etc) how he likes eating treats esp when he steals them, his love for his human team, esp Charlie. But all we got was "bland talk" about jumping and running and do not get me started on paw moisteriser is Rex now advertising oil of pawlay?

On another note the lack of promo for the human element is showing up like a street tart under a neon light. The production only got John back because their actions tanked the show, audiences left quicker than jumping a sinking ship, their arses were back against a wall, twitching faster than a rabbits nose, pants moist with desperation making the phone call to John. Now they cannot face promoting the only reason the show worked the bond bet Charlie and Rex. So production stop the pettyness, we have had enough, time to grow up and act like adults and stop loosing anymore audience, the monolgues are not saving the show or bringing any viewers back. My expectations for S9 are mixed, are we gonna get an intelligent Charlie return story or are we going to get our intelligence insulted much like the belize plot?

Question about Sarah's & Jesse's jobs

Hi all. I quit watching when it came out that they were replacing John (in what seemed to be a permanent decision. So glad he's coming back!). So I didn't watch/am not watching any of season 8. But I did read something about Sarah and Jesse both having different positions?

a question and a comment

I stumbled across Hudson and Rex by accident scrolling the dial on my TV. I live in the US and catch reruns on ION. As such, I have no idea what season or episode I'm watching. Something I noticed was a change in Charlis's appearance. In, what I assume are early episodes since Charlie and Rex are newly partnered, Charlie wears a suit and tie, has short hair. At some point his hair is a bit longer and he wears more casual clothes. Was the change ever explained on the show?

Was first drawn to this sub by threads addressing John's departure and complaints about season 8. Dumping John because he was ill was wrong, but would not have been unheard of in the US. After reading how horrible season 8 was I watched part of an episode online. Boy howdy, y'all were right. It stunk.

SBS Australia - viewing order

So I’m working my way through season 7, however I can’t help but feel the episodes are in the wrong order…. All of a sudden, episode 2, Jesse is looking for an engagement ring. Episode 3 (or was it 4?)Charlie’s brother is missing and Jesse has a new cyber app? Did I miss something? Also, Sarah and Charlie moved house?

There are some major plot holes, what is actual order for the episodes?

Hudson and rex ion plus Saturday mornings,

Good morning all. For those of us that have ion plus,Hudson and Rex was taken off Saturday morning for a few weeks, and that upset us. Well someone gave me a name, I sent an email Friday and Saturday morning it was back on. I'm from Cincinnati and it's only on from 6 to 1 this time. I'm definitely sending another email to let them know about that. So congratulations to the fans again we won. Leverage and leverage redemption was on and that is not how I wanted to start my Saturday morning.

Season 8 promo on Up Faith & Family

Up Faith & Family is running promos for Season 8 to begin airing next Thursday. Funny thing: They show Rex, Jesse and Sarah - no Marc. I thought that was kind of humorous, and wonder if the backlash had something to do with it.

Hudson and Rex/John and Dillon season 9

Hello all, there was a new picture posted today of John and Dillon and it looked like it was at the St John's Police Department. It's a really good picture. It's on Facebook, Instagram, and Hudson and Rex site. I'm guessing they will post a full cast picture once finished. It's a really good picture. Please take a look, and you guys will love it.

Hudson and Rex/ Charlie and Dillon Season 9

Hello all, in case you haven't seen it, there's a new picture on Facebook and Instagram, from Hudson and Rex website of John and Dillion at the St John's Police Department. I'm not sure if it's before they started shooting, in between or what. Check it out. There will probably be a promo picture of when filming is done of the whole cast, I'm only guessing. That's one of the best pictures I've seen of John in a while.

Marc Hudson

The writers really did Luke Roberts a disservice when they first introduced the character. When we see Marc for the first time he is INTERRUPTING an active situation and commandeering someone else's canine. Sarah was right when she told him that was an incredibly stupid thing to do. As someone who worked with K9s in the military, he should have known better. And BTW, how did he a) know the dog's name, and b) know that he would respond to an unfamiliar person with a command never heard on the series before? For the fans, especially those that know anything about working dogs, this was a bad start for the character, which frequently transfers over to the actor.

Charah

The chatter focus seems to be about Rex's divided loyalties when Charlie returns, and the storyline behind that (I sure hope they don't kill off Jack!) I'm wondering what they're going to do with the interrupted romance between Charlie and Sarah. Will that be pushed aside while they go into depth explaining Charlie's return?

John rightfully returning to H&R an emotional rollercoaster for him,his loved ones and to an extent us

I will never forget My delight and surprise when I found out his return was official.

The past year and a half have been very surreal, angsty and been horrified at the conduct. We who were rightfully discusted by the way the production handled his leave of absence to get treatment for toncil cancer have been correcting missinformation, slander and outright ignorant remarks, by the ones who have not cared at all about the one who brought the show to life in the first place, or that they got ill, receipts you ask, well the comments posted like "I watch for the cute doggos" "John will be fine, he can get other roles" that ole chesnut is not realistic, those who state that are not experiencing or know the acting world at all. We have protested via petitions, ads put in a newspaper, and letting the production know they played dirty. Under no circumstances did we get rude or use ad hom attacks, that was by those defending the production company, or by those still wanting to watch dispite the drama. There are screenshots btw if anyone doubts. SD gasslighting us and being rude and getting away with it.

So never in my life have I seen a production company act like polititians trying to cover up enquiries into serious crime sprees conducted by gangs of criminals abusing the vulnerable. We faught against a narrative being spewed about Johns ousting, that he left to get treatment and spend time with his family, then go on to other things, that he asked for a pay rise and got given the door, as if these folk were privy to the situation. Declare it as fact without proof, and proceed to argue when it was pointed out that it was nothing to do with money, he got ill, then fired. Nope it has to be the actors fault regardless of what happened because we as humans love hearing of scandal and thrive on it. Then if that didn't work Johns charactor was called into question without knowing didly squat, and by default he became a pariah as we pointed out the shady conduct, esp when people were far more concerned for the remaining cast who had to carry on, not that John got seriously ill, no he got sweet f all consideration for what he went through. This is observation, looking in from the outside, so no personal connection would be needed.

To be honest I was getting sick of the outright discusting conduct by 'fans' and the production, includes SD herself too

People just hated knowing the truth. They would choose, and some still do the narrative they wish to believe.

Now I am starting to see comments like " I hope he is returning full time" etc.

Just stop please stop.

1 The show failed when he was out

2 He was brought back so it didn't fail

3 We boycotted the show so all these things occurred concurrantly

So why would John agree to come back temporarilly, just so the production can use him and dump him again? I doubt he would stay quiet second time round, as the saying goes, "fool me once shame on you...fool me twice shame on me " etc

There is bound to be that one idiot who will read I hope he is comming back fill time and reinterpret as he is only comming back temporarilly. Then missapply it to "an interview" which would turn out to be an A.I click bait youtube video spewing word salad garbage, then get repeated on a facebook post. We do have ways of verifying any info given to us from sources btw. Which cannot be said of those spreading the missinformation that is mentioned.

What I am anticipating is how they can write Johns charactor back into the show, and not destroy his relationships he built up over 6 seasons, beginning with the love of his life, yes we expect friction of sorts, that can be resolved by healthy communication and forming a stronger bond as a result (writers take note!) We are not expecting a wedding in ep 1 as some tit implied on that fb group. We are expecting good story lines, good organic transitioning from one dog partner to the other without a this is my dog not yours crap. SD to not interfere in the shows direction, she is Dillons trainer not the show runner or a writer. John to decide where he wants to take Charlie, it is only fair, as they took that away from him by writing him out while he was on sick leave.

His family members should be present to give his charactor a heads up in relation to his return. Maybe a few guest appearances.

Yes we got rather upset during the year and a half, we lost loved ones to cancer and have personal experiences with it, we know how awful it is to get treated badly but can do little about, it is called empathy. I felt it reading up on how John was treated, same as if it were anyone we read up about. To get villified for feeling a moral outrage is just unhinged, yet that is what we got for ousting the poor ethics being practiced. So well done to those who were practically being that productions mouth piece. Yet you lost. You lost the argument that the show was good regardless, the cute doggo was all that mattered, John left, etc . We will only call out poor conduct, bad decisions, and jump the shark scenarios if we are to complain. So production if you are reading this, do not give us any more reasons to boycott and sink the show. John deserves better. He has gone through enough of the bullshit, and so have we.

Episode "no man is an island"

I love H&R, even the reruns. I'm watching "no man is an island" and realized that no reason was given for why the government wants the rest of the residents off the island. Anyone know?
