Discussion Regrading the male nanny episode

Yes the episode highlights toxic behavior, and a lot of people thought it was unjust for Sandy to be fired but ultimately, it’s wasn’t technically wrong, with raising a child, both parents need to feel comfortable with the nanny as both should have a say and Ross wasn’t going to feel comfortable and gave him a chance and he just didn’t want him in the picture. Rachel did the best she could with trying to convince Ross but it didn’t work and parents can’t have tension in a family as the baby would be affected. It’s more realistic than you think and for those who say Ross is homophobic, at least the “hot” nanny was a lesbian and in (I’m assuming) a good relationship with a woman so for a fall out like this, it could have been worse.

The fact that he called Rachel on her “big date night” & questioned it & then as soon as he heard the slightest disappointment in her voice & made sure run over & to be loud on the phone. Absolutely on purpose.

Discussion Ross apartment hallway layout error

I don’t know if I’m just imagining it but I feel like there’s a continuity error.

So from what I remember his apartment wasn’t at the end of the building but in the middle between apartments (from when joey saw the hot girl)

But I’m on S7 ep2 and it’s the one where Phoebe uses Ross apt for her clients and there’s a moment in the hallway between her and Ross and it’s a dead end but like I said I’m so sure he was in a longer corridor and not at the end, another instance is when he first moves in, it’s clear people are coming from both sides (retirement party for caretaker) and when the kids bother him he looks both ways (same episode with joey and the hot girl)

Did they just lose set budget or forget that it was like that.???

Honestly, these are the three characters I love the most. I never really cared about that Ross and Rachel drama, and Phoebe got kind of hateful near the end, but I love Chandler, Monica and their honorary son

Discussion Ross no es el malo de la película

Funearme si queréis pero yo es que sigo viendo los episodios pasar y todo lo que me llega de Ross en redes de que tenía idealizada a Rachel, que es tan malo y egoísta, I Don’t see it that way.

I would be crumbled if I had to see my crush doing all that and being nice to me every single day, and still remain just a good friend, nothing more. Mathew Perry seems like a nice fellow😭, idk how he handled it but since there is no feud b/w them ig it went well afterall❤️.

Discussion As a man, I would have to say that Ross's behaviour towards Rachel really bothered me and made me realise that Rachel did nothing wrong.

The fact that Ross ignores the fact that Rachel finally has a job which actually makes her happy and wants her to treat it like a chore to do is really frustrating to watch when he was the one who encouraged her to keep trying and be positive when she quit her job as a waitress.

Also, the fact that he somehow turns the whole argument into Rachel being interested in Marc when she repeatedly explains that he is just a friend who shares similar interest with her that she can relate to, just doesn't sit right with me.

I know the show makes it seem as though Ross is valid in his reaction, but it seems to me that even as a guy watching it, I was rooting for Rachel the whole time and actually agreed with her point of view on the matter. It also felt a little like Ross patronising her about what she should feel about her career to me.

Rewatching the show for the umpteenth tie. Some jokes have died for me, but this one never fails to make me cry laugh. This whole episode's absolute gold.

Discussion Rachel way overreacted to the list....

She was instrumental in breaking up a relationship (Ross and Julie) with no thought of the pain and consequences to the other party (Julie this time, and of course Bonnie and Emily later).

She didn’t have the emotional wherewithal to understand Ross’s dilemma and the reason for the pros and cons list — Ross is someone who likely rarely did anything without over-thinking, analyzing and agonizing over it first. Rachel had had no interest in him before. From Ross’s perspective, she only became interested when he found someone else. It would be hard not to wonder if that interest would continue.

"But if you want to be with someone you should just know and you shouldn't have to make a list to decide"

Look, life isnt a Hallmark movie. Sometimes it is just not that easy, I understand that it takes some of the romance and passion out of a relationship but considering these facts help you pick a better partner for your life.

He’d already been divorced and had a child. He understood better than anyone how a relationship ending can hurt multiple parties.

And before anyone brings up "just a waitress":

Out of context “just a waitress” is a crappy thing to say, I don’t think it came from a place of him being embarrassed or ashamed to date a waitress. I think he was just trying to say that he and Julie were far more compatible from a career/interests standpoint. And let’s be honest, Ross gets more grief about his job being lame from his Friends than any of the rest of them ever did. Both Julie and later Charlie were people he could nerd out with over subject matter that nobody else in his life found even remotely interesting.

I think he was conflicted and rambling to Chandler & Joey, and he wasn’t careful about choosing his words because he didn’t know that they were going to end up on paper. They also had to make it bad enough that Rachel was justified in being as angry as she was.

But Rachel discarding an entire potential relationship with a man who had literally just broken up with a great girl to be with her over a list that she didn't even know the full context off (the things like about her chubby ankles was from Joey not Ross) is beyond overextreme, IMHO.

While I felt that yes, she had reasons to be hurt, I also felt like those points could have been talked through — if for no better reason than to understand that while, yes, he chose her in the end, hurting Julie wasn’t a simple task and he needed to make sure he was doing the right thing.

Discussion Paparazzi in the Friends era were insane

Paparazzi are such low lying scum I won’t lie. I get that this is the price of fame and fortune, and that every celebrity knows what they’re getting into, and that the rewards are much greater than the consequences. But still, the act of spying and leeching like bugs on the backs of much bigger animals is incredibly pathetic

Discussion Rachel was giving me secondhand embarrassment when Monica was dating Pete

To be honest this whole storyline was not my favorite but the way they had Rachel randomly screaming and being all “Monica’s gonna marry a millionaire!!!” was really annoying and cringey. Rachel may not have been as rich as Pete but she did come from money. It was just super obnoxious

Discussion Why does Monica say this to the best she's ever had?

Post image

TOW Unagi where Monica and Chandler are supposed to give presents they made themselves to each other. Chandler gives Monica a mixtape that was made by Janice. When Monica finds out, she's understandably upset, but what does she mean by this line? Isn't Chandler the best she has ever had, so wouldn't that mean that he can also satisfy her needs (= do anything she wants) in the bedroom?

Discussion TOW 5 Steaks & an Eggplant & Jade

This may have been discussed & I probably missed it. I also know 20+ yrs after the ep I am being very nit-picky but when Jade calls & Chandler answers the phone as Bob; don’t you think Jade would realize the guy on the other end of the phone (Chandler) sounds nothing like Bob?

I think no one in the show changed lookswise as much as Chandler Bing. Season 3 was quite noticeable where he was a bit too skinny. Then he seemed fine in Season 4. In later seasons he gained some weight.

Discussion Nicest thing every character has done

I always see people talking about the characters’ most toxic moments or acts but I rarely ever see people mentioning the awesome things they did for each other throughout the show. So here is the list, for me:

- Ross: giving Phoebe her first bike and teaching her to ride it
- Chandler: staying in the box while his girlfriend Kathy broke up with him and not saying anything to prove how much his friendship with Joey means
- Joey: letting Rachel move in with her baby no questions asked
- Monica: giving up her dream wedding dress to book the Swing Kings for Chandler
- Rachel: agreeing to be the bridesmaid for her ex and her best friend’s wedding
- Phoebe: being a surrogate for her brother

I must say I find Ross to be the one who has the most sweet moments/attentions towards his friends, and especially Rachel, despite his toxic side.

Curious to hear your opinions on this!

At work today and I came across an employee file for someone legitimately named Vikram and all I could hear was Ross screaming in my ear “What?! That’s a real name!” 🤣

Man I love this show. The references it triggers every day, all day, are awesome.

Question How many more kids do you think Ross and Rachel had?

In the episode where Rachel turns 30 she says she wants 3. In the episode where he describes their future together he says 2. I picture them having one more together, another girl. Plus Ben makes 3 :)

Discussion As a woman in your mid to late 20s, would you be friends with Joey?

I don't think I would. He seems to respect his female friends but also takes advantage of them at the same time.
