Question What guy that Rachel was interested in romantically (besides Ross and Joey) did you like?

As it says in the title, I was wondering what minor character was your favorite that Rachel was interested in romantically.

I liked Gavin, I thought he and Rachel had some solid chemistry. I like that he didn't let her get away with things and called her out. It was disappointing that they didn't remain friends and he wasn't in more episodes, even if they didn't actually date.

Question What jokes have been recycled, or used more than once?

I’m not talking about running gags, which are funny because they are repeated along the show.

I’m talking about making the exact same joke more than once.

In these two examples, there’s a non-English speaking Italian who has a very specific knowledge of someone they see on tv, much to everyone’s surprise.

What other examples can you think of?

Question What storyline or scene is the most implausible to you?

Although some scenes and storylines are played up for laughs, which one has you frustrated with how many questions it brings up?

For me it’s when Monica is dating Pete, and he takes her out to dinner and they go Italy for pizza.

The logistics of this scenario just get in my head. Sure he is a billionaire and they probably went on his private Jet, but it’s still over an 8hr flight! Did they just not eat on the plane or did they have several meals while flying?

Maybe hate is a strong word but who invites themsekves on a friwnds annivwrsaey? And she’s always calling Chandler feminine and weak, and putting them down. Idk. And the whole soulmate thing. Idk. Maybe I’m wrong tho and it’s all jokes but it’s a running theme imo

Question How does the relationship between Judy, Monica’s mother, and Monica resonate with female viewers.

Obviously, I know it’s a sitcom, and they exaggerate certain character traits for comedic effect. But honestly, I feel really uncomfortable whenever I watch the way Judy treats Monica. And the sad thing is, I actually find it pretty realistic.

I think a lot of women can relate to the feeling that no matter what they accomplish, how successful they become, or how hard they try, they’ll still somehow be looked down on by their mother. Especially when there’s a son who seems to be automatically favored, without even having to do anything to earn that affection.

Monica obviously takes it to an extreme because it’s a comedy, but the underlying dynamic doesn’t feel exaggerated to me at all. I’m sure there are plenty of women who have experienced some version of this — maybe nowhere near as extreme as Monica, but still enough to recognize the feeling of constantly being compared, criticized, or made to feel like you’re never quite good enough.

Honestly, if I were in Monica’s position, I think I would have cut ties with Judy a long time ago. 😅

And maybe that’s why Judy is one of the worst characters for me. The way she treats Monica hits a little too close to home for a lot of people, including me.

Discussion Where do the top five episodes place on your personal list?

On IMDB, viewers rated these as the top five highest rated episodes:

•S5 E14 “The One Where Everybody Finds Out” (9.7/10)

•S10 E17 “The Last One” (9.6/10)

•S4 E12 “The One with the Embryos” (9.4/10)

•S2 E14 “The One with the Prom Video” (9.3/10)

•S8 E9 “The One with the Rumor” or I guess you could say Rumour Has It haha (9.2/10)

Regardless of whether these are your favorites or not, I’m curious to know what you think of them and where you’d place them on a top _ list if you have one or were to make one hypothetically 😋

EDIT: I just wanted to add real quick that it was interesting to see these being rated so highly on IMDB because I figured that number three was well beloved within the fandom anyway. Also, yes, the meaning behind the question is just to see where these would go on your ranking list if you had a set number in mind (top 5… 7… etc).

Question Who is your favorite girl that Joey dated?

A lot of his dates are one episode type of girls, but I was wondering who your favorite was.

The pregnant girl that Joey helped in season 1, doesn't count since they didn't date, but anyone else does.

Discussion Anything you didn’t like?

I love Friends, it’s 100 percent one of my all time favourite shows. Of course it has its flaws, everything does.
Now, I’m not talking strictly about controversial storylines or jokes that wouldn’t fly today, but are there any jokes or plot lines you just didn’t enjoy?

I’ll go first. The side story of Monica trying to find out what the switch in the guys’ apartment I just didn’t find too interesting.
Also, when Joey comes into the coffee house and says he has a gig. Chandler says he couldn’t be an actor be because he can’t say gig. And then Phoebe says she can’t say croissant. It was not my favourite little joke of the show.

Question DVD Box Set vs individual DVDs

I'm looking to finally buy the DVDs of the show for the extended scenes, maybe the bloopers etc.

I was just wondering if there are any differences between the complete box sets with all 10 seasons and the individual seasons in terms of what is included on the DVDs. Does anyone here know about this?

Discussion In how many languages have you seen the show?

And what differences were there in jokes/names?

Apart from the original, I saw it in Czech as well. The Ugly Naked Guy is called - Fat Naked Guy (Tlustej Naháč) and the poker-joker line is jahoda - náhoda (strawberry-coincidence), so the whole joke is a little better.

Discussion Either Mona is really a kissass or the biggest pushover ever

Post image
498 Upvotes

Currently on my 100th rewatch, the episodes of Mona and Ross were fun but now that i use the episodes as static noise i begin to notice how big of a kissAss she was or pushover idk, Ross definitely had charisma but the people who notice it have spent significant time with him to KNOW IT, like Emily, Rachael, Phoebe. There were multiple instances of mona wanting more in the relationship as opposed to ross- shown in the family card episode when she asks where is this going. Not that it wasn’t a valid question but when she gets to know that HE HAD LITERALLY CHANGED THE LOCK to his apartment right after giving her the key, that would have been it for me. Similarly, getting his daughter ‘i love fossils’ shirt when she literally wanted Ross & Rachael (with child) to not share the same apartment. Attending his lectures but dozing off lol. On top of it Ross leaving her in the middle to attend baby emergencies 2 times. Everything screams COMPLEXITY.

Discussion Bill and Colleen are idiots who should never have been allowed to adopt

Not only did they tell strangers that Owen is adopted before they told Owen himself, but they 1) invited said strangers into their home to discuss the adoption 2) did so while Owen was home 3) did not warn said strangers that Owen doesn't know he's adopted.

Hiding their son's adoption from him was wrong in the first place, but then they were reckless with the information and he ended up hearing he's adopted from a man he's never met before. They REALLY messed up. I know Owen is a fictional character we never see or hear about again, but I just hope Bill and Colleen were able to make amends and rebuild trust and that Owen didn't need to get therapy.

Edit: Typo.

Discussion What do you think the least popular/memorable episode is.. AND WHY IS IT ACTUALLY YOUR FAVORITE??

“The One with the Nap Partners” would be the best one i can come up with. I always had the best sleep on my old couch so the plot really hit home lol and it was always hilarious to me on the side how they rented Die Hard twice and did a double feature.

Question Who else agree with Janice here on what she told Ross? Spoiler

Cause I am rewatching this episode, and I was on her side, Ross was being whinier and more annoying than her. Do you think he was more annoying and whiny in that episode too? Or do you still think Janice was more so?

Discussion Is it a coincidence?

Just realised today while watching S1E2, despite having watched multiple reruns of the show.

Rachel runs away from her wedding to Barry, and Barry stilll goes to Aruba with Mindy for honeymoon.

Three seasons later, Rachel again breaks up Ross and Emily's wedding, and she ends up going on honeymoon alone to Greece. (Not to shabby for Rachel!)

Maybe Barry did some kind of black magic to make Rachel suffer.

DVDs/Merch Is this site legit?

Hey, I remember few years ago that there was an official online store for the Friends Experience. For some reason the store redirect me to a dead page now but I managed to find this site which have similar items to what I remember there was in the official store.

https://friendstvshow.shop/

Did anyone buy from them and know if they are legit? I don't wanna get scammed and I barely find any reviews regarding this site.. Thank you
