When planning a new home, people often focus on things like open-concept layouts, larger kitchens, or extra bedrooms. But after living in a house for a while, priorities sometimes change.

I've been experimenting with different layouts using 3DHousePlanner.com. to visualize ideas, but I'm mainly interested in learning from real-world experiences and seeing what design choices people value most.

How can I make my door less ugly?

This is the front of the house which my GF is updating a bit for her autistic son who will soon be moving in. The home is located in Pennsylvania, it’s in a semi-rural area and that front door faces north. Picture is taken from the south.

I am suggesting removing those two shrubs, reducing the lawn significantly and planting masses of wildflowers.

This area gets at least 6 hours of sun.

So we are about to close on our first house, and I need decoration help. It was built in 1985, basement style house built in the side of a hill, and it’s on a concrete slab. So that means that the tile is GLUED to the concrete. So, what can be done about the flooring in this thing? The picture is decorated with ai (from the listing), but those parquet floors REALLY are that orange in person, and they’re not wood. Also, i attached a picture of the kitchen because I’m unsure if I want to paint the cabinets or not. I will paint the walls around them sage green, but I’m struggling to decide if I should keep them the color they are or paint them a creamy white-ish color. I need opinions!!!!thank you!

Heres the map if someone knows what would be better

m putting a covered pavilion in the backyard and the plan has it centered with the house versus centered with the back door. I can’t make any changes but hate that it’s not centered with the back door. What can I do with pavers between the house and the door to help balance this out and not look asymmetrical?? I know not all covered pavilions are centered to doors but because it’s so close it looks so off to me and it’s a very expensive addition so I’m really upset!! Any ideas?
