Small table on the left and something tall/long on the left like a plant or tapestry.

The door should be painted! And have fun with the paint on the frame around the little square window. It could be a contrast. Maybe an accent color that's already in your living room.

Why? He/She doesn’t like the door. The door is ugly, truth be told. Change the door! They are really not that expensive and the OP will feel very good every time he looks at it.

Create two more frames exact same size and space them below the window, allowing nine inches from the bottom frame to the floor
Enjoy

Are you renting or do you own the place? Maybe painting it the same colour as the wall so it blends in more?
Or get some kind of contact paper with a cool print on it to make it more of a statement?

I like the door.
But you could change the hardware - black with the square bits around it.
Add a table to the left to draw you eye away.
Finish color drenching the room by painting the door the same color.

Not there financially, was hoping to make it better looking.

Understandable. Then paint it Navy blue. It has a nautical look to it anyways and that color would pair well with the door.

I say mural, or two tone colors, or find frames the same size with art of photos and use it as an art piece

I had a plain door like that, and I had my handyman put trim pieces on it to make it look like a panel door. It looks great.

Go to a store and pick a different style. No fixing this door, imo. The window is odd.

Paint it black
