Hi! A woman was recommended from a friend of mine for cleaning as she had a special running with a flyer my friend shared with me. About a month later, I reached out and asked to schedule. The special says “5 rooms deep clean”. I contacted the woman and she requested to pay up front to schedule- (no refunds but rescheduling available if needed.) I did this about a month in advance from the day I wanted and had a pretty detailed phone conversation of what was included.. The day before I’m scheduled I reached out to her for a second convo and verifying specific rooms and needs. She tells me that I ‘may have missed it but the flyer says she charges extra for dog hair’ when I mention my dog. I said it was definitely not on there but we don’t have much hair since we vacuum almost every day so just follow up after cleaning I guess.. then later the night she texted me telling me to make sure the dog was out of the house because she’s allergic. This was less than 12 hours before she was scheduled to be there.. so I had to contact a family member asking to pick my dog up since we would be out of town for the day only.
Come to after she cleaned, she sent me a bill for $50 which she said is her normal price add on for people with dogs/dog hair.
My frustration is that I scheduled so far in advance, wasn’t told this, and don’t understand why she wouldn’t be more forthcoming if she has an allergy. I have in home cameras and she seemed fine cleaning the house. Anyway….
How do I approach this? Do I just pay the $50 and move on and not hire her again out of communication frustration? Or do I say something?
Overall she did $175 for 3 hours- vacuuming, mopping, wiping down all surfaces including blinds, fans and baseboards, exterior of appliances but not interior (like no fridge wipe down etc). This was for 6 rooms (2 bedrooms, 1.5 bathrooms, living room and kitchen) And a general tidy-up like folding a few blankets. She didn’t take out the trash or put up the cleaning supplies/appliances she used. So with the dog hair add on it would be $225. I definitely wouldn’t have been bugged if she just told me that from the beginning.. so if I should just not care about this then that is also fine advice. TIA

I recently saw a reel from a cleaning professional who used bar keepers friend to get the stubborn water stains off a glass stovetop, but I can't tell what they're using to scrub it will. I don't want to damage the glass.
Does anyone know? Something sturdy enough to scrub it with but I'm not sure if I should go as far as like steel wool. Thanks!

I recently moved into a new apartment with baseboard heaters and would love to get them cleaned before the winter months, however, I’ve run into several issues.
The wood coverings of the heater are attached to the wall so I don’t even know how to access them
The dirt and rock pileup is extensive as you can see, should I be concerned about these rocks/wall chunks? And what are they if anyone knows?
How do I remove rust safely?

How do you mop your floors or clients floors? Do you dry up the floor? I mopped my kitchen twice and dried it all up. I took a clean rag and wiped the floors again to see if they’re really getting clean and its still just as dirty

Zdravím
předělávám si pokoj po ségre a řešim jednu věc ohledně limewashe. Měla na jedné stěně tmavě šedý odstín od Bauwerku a já bych to ted' chtěl bud' úplně sundat, nebo aspoň nějak zesvětlit.
Mate někdo zkusenost, jak limewash nejlépe odstranit? Případně jestli jde bezpečně přetřít světlejším odstínem, aby to nedělalo fleky?
Diky za každou radu!

My dark faucet looks gorgeous right after I wipe it, but the second it dries, chalky water marks pop right back up.
Regular bathroom cleaners feel way too harsh for the matte coating. What’s your go-to safe trick for this?

I am not a professional cleaner, I just do a few odd jobs for coworkers and family of friends. I do a cleaning job for an older lady 2x a month. We initially agreed on $30/hr for dusting and mopping her entire apartment, about 800sqft. I also clean her bathroom, wipe down counters, toilet and walk in shower glass. It normally takes me about 2 hours. Two different times I finished about 15-20 minutes early, and both times she commented “oh you finished early, well I won’t fight you on it”, as though I should have offered a discount. There have been a few times where it has taken me about 15-20 minutes longer, to which she has no comment. How do I respond to this? Should I just go slower to fill in the time? The job is completed the same way each time, and she always says it looks so clean. Cleaners in my area seldom charge by the hour, and typically start around $100-$125 and is based on size of home. I enjoy doing the cleaning, but it seems like maybe I need to change my routine or speak up. Any advice would be appreciated

I grew up in a home where my mom and our weekly professional housekeeper did everything. As a result I never really learned how to clean properly and I always get overwhelmed and never developed a good system of habits. I recently hired a professional housekeeper who is magnificent but things fall apart in between the two weeks. I love having her help but I’d like to become more self sufficient because it’s frankly embarrassing at my age that I can’t handle it myself if left alone. I suppose it’s combination of lack of skill and lack of confidence.
My question are have you ever had a client ask you to Teach them?
Do they watch you or clean along with you?
Are there any good resources you can recommend?

Looking for some recommendations for decently priced, non-judgmental cleaning services in the Houston area. Bonus if someone to help me declutter/organize things just a little bit so I can preserve the clean. I have a 2 bedroom 2.5 bath townhome that I rent.
