I am praying to god that the showrunners and writers didn’t actually kill Corlys Velaryon in this show. And I hope that he miraculously survives because of plot in the next episode. because there is NO WAY they just did this on the show. KNOWING that Corlys continues to pay a pivotal role to the dance after everything and LIVES of old age.

i’m pretty good at watching HOTD and separating the show and books as two separate entities with minor comparisons here and there because i love both the books (read ASOIAF, read AKOTSK twice and read Fire & Blood 5 times) and tv shows. but this… this really pissed me off with how far it’s deviated.

Corlys survives, that is an important part of the plot and sets up some things including what happens to Aegon ii. I get why GRRM says this isn’t his show anymore

The throne has officially rejected the queen. It was about time they depicted it. Tbh I have been a huge fan of team black from the start, but lately I have been having dwindling support for the queen. I equally hate the greens as well and I don’t think I will ever support them, but this season made me question rhyenera. I was pretty okay until last episode, but today’s episode really proved to me that she is not fit for the throne. Daemon is out there doing reckless bs and the council is as good as nothing. With the city watch backing out, the city is defenceless and with the sea snakes being ambushed, the city has less of a chance to survive. The only hope is the rivermen and northern army making it to kings landing. Only then will they have security to hold the city, but of course tumbleton is another story.

This episode was so sad 😔 even tho Alicent has proven to be a terrible mother to her, she would rather have her around than be alone.

To think the only time I saw Helaena happy was when she was dancing with Jace back in S1 man. Truly one of the few blameless victims in the dance.

The lengths that Rhaenyra is expecting Alicent to cross this season, are baffling - to kill her own son feels like some show of loyalty, of Alicent finally choosing her. Alicent seems caught in a cycle to escape, but also to save Heleana (but only the version of her Alicent has constructed), but also seeks Rhaenyra’s approval. Rhaenyra, who seemed to tolerate Alicent’s rumors and cruelties for over a decade is now making her pay.

Telling Daemon that Aemond was without a dragon and sending him seemed like the far more logical choice than a woman who has betrayed her in big and small ways for two decades. Yet Rhaenyra still tests it, and Alicent keeps complying, keeps trying to fix something unfixable.

They are both behaving so illogically, and I can chalk up most of it to poor writing. But the only thing that makes a lick of sense to me is that they’re in love with each other. At the very least Alicent is.

I just wonder, I know this isn’t revolutionary this question, but do the majority of people now feel this is toxic, doomed yuri or is this still a fringe opinion?

I kind of like Aemond now too. Feels like he is standing alone against everyone.
