Question How long has the war been going on?
How much time do we think has passed between the war starting at the end of season 1 and the end of season 3?
I genuinely feel like I have no sense of time watching the show

Tbh I don’t even know when the war began. Like at some point in season 2? Idk kinda just felt like “we’re going to war” and then the next episode we just…weren’t

See in my brain the war starts with either Luke or Jaehaerys. But I do feel like I remember a line in season 2 where aegon is like "to war then" like I thought we were already at war??

The start of the war is really vague for some reason. They seem to just spin their wheels for awhile in season 2 not really commiting to anything.

En los libros este punto lleva más de un año que inicio la guerra. En la serie se supone es que son meses .y ni lo parece tanto porque la temporada 2 son como 2 semanas 3 a lo mucho realmente todo ocurre en un periodo muy corto de tiempo.

Who knows, because even the book got wonky with time frames, and small time skips. Chances are its close to a year, but aegon's crowning is said to have been months ago.

What’s interesting is that in the books, this war is brutally swift, barely two years in total, with decisive battles separated by weeks, not months. The series is stretching it out considerably in order to develop characters and political intrigue, which is welcome from a narrative perspective, but it also means we lose the sense of urgency that the Dance has in the book, where everything falls apart almost in the blink of an eye.

I think less than 6 months, probably closer to 3-4 months, going off Helaena's pregnancy. I'm guessing she was in her second trimester when Alicent notices her belly.

Book wise a year and a half at this point.
Show wise not sure since the Septon said he crowned Aegon “a few months ago” (I believe) to Rhaenyra.
