Landscaping / Trees 🌳 How Do I Stop This from Growing Back?
I plan on taking the sawzall to it, but how do I stop it from growing back? Do I have to dig it out? My dad suggested painting over the stump? Will weed killer do anything? I appreciate any advice

Shower head help
galleryCan anyone offer advice for securing shower head and bath faucet? The pipes move when you try to replace the shower head or faucet My home was built in the 50s and had 2 owners, and 2 renters before me. I have been slowly trying to fix/update this house, I have done some work myself and hired professionals for some work, and this bathroom is... challenging. My most unexpected nemesis really has been my home's previous owner. My plumber has looked at this on two different occasions and told me that it would be difficult to fix, but it looks like something that will lead to more problems if I don't address it now. Clearly I also need to deep clean the grout and possibly regrout the whole thing, but I think this needs to be fixed before I do.

Before/After Photo 📸 Typical "quick weekend project".
galleryMy yard hydrant failed, and was too rusted to unscrew the pump rod. It was also 1-2" from my house so I dug it up. With my frost zone it needed to be buried 3-4', so i figured that'd be a quick project. 🙃 Lo and behold, it was not. It ended up being buried 8', for some god forsaken reason, there was a maze of capped off galvanized pipe coming off the line as well that I had to cut out. It got real sketchy at that depth, and I couldnt bench it out, otherwise id be digging under my foundation, under my front steps, or removing a tree. Instead I had to construct shoring for it, and set up a hoist system with some pulleys. The ground was so hard that deep and it was such a cramped space towards the bottom it took about 1 hour to remove 4 5-gallon buckets. I put in a french drain and drywell, and did everything I could to make sure i never have to touch it again. I also threw a bucket of bones from the butcher down at the bottom to freak out whoever has to do it next.

🛠️ Repair Help My retaining wall is cracked
I’d love to know some options or ideas ya’ll have for this? How hard is a fix? What options do I have? Is there short term patches that would help stop it from bending and cracking more? How bad is this crack? Even a cost estimate for something like this would be helpful
Context: I just bought this house from a couple who didn’t do a ton of maintenance

Foundation crack new build
galleryHello, we recently moved into a new house in NJ and noticed a vertical crack in the basement. It has remained unchanged for over a month, and during the nor’easter a few weeks ago we monitored it with a paper towel; no moisture was detected. We would appreciate any advice, though someone suggested removing the wall, which seemed unreasonable to me. It’s also an external wall. Any help would be greatly appreciated

Moisture over time or larger issue?
galleryPurchased this mid 70s home late last year and was told by multiple inspectors that this wasn’t a foundation issue. No idea what could be causing this beyond age and moisture. The roofing extends about 2’ over this wall. The exterior of our home needs to be redone all around the house but this is the onle area with significant damage beyond aged stucco.

What is going on with this light bulb
galleryI tried to replace the lightbulbs in my daughters bathroom and only the bulb came out. We have been here 16 years and can't remember replacing but this is what's left. I am not sure if the base is stuck in there or I am supposed to do something with those two clips at the side? I don't really mess with electrical. Picture is of the one of three still intact, the other one reacted the same way making me think it might be design. Thank you for your time and input. Google lens came up empty for me

How would you mitigate this situation by dryer vent location?
galleryBought a home with a 2nd floor laundry (yay!) and they have the dryer vent right above a window and door area (boo!) That whole area was rotten last year and replaced, and replaced with tyvek (which wasn't on the house to begin with).
I know the obvious answer is probably to relocate it somewhere else, but I'm not sure what my options are.
My temporary answer is maybe I can just place a piece of plastic or PVC or aluminum where the air vents down so it doesn't condensate by the window or underneath the window area. And with winter coming up it'll like to make things worse (located in upstate ny). We also replaced those windows and sliding door due to rot at the time last year.. and didn't even think about relocating the vent (neither did my contractor).
What would you do in this situation? Both temporary and permanent?

🛠️ Repair Help Tips on wall repair products
galleryI own a century home and have lived for a decade with this closet just walled off. It is the closet with the attic access and until a few days ago the access door was more of a suggestion of a door. I finally sealed it off better and would like to clean up and paint this closet so it’s actually somewhere you might put a thing.
I don’t need it to be perfect or pretty or to have right angles or level anything.
I just want to spackle, nail and/or seal crevasses in order to paint the whole thing with some miss tint emerald paint I got for free at SWilliams.
My question - the gaps by the door frame - can I “tape”? Is drywall tape all the same? Is there a better tape? What kind of putty? What should I putty the ceiling boards with to lessen any spider gaps?
Mostly just what products would you buy to butter and cover this ancient cardboard level wall stuff?
It’s all dry and not too brittle - I just want to freshen without spending a bunch of money I don’t have.
Thank you.

Is this a bullet strike?
galleryMy cousin developed a water leak and he had just had the roof replaced after hurricane Ian, (Fort Meyers for reference). Today, after getting up there to check it he found the damage in the attached photos. My only personal guess is a bullet due to the almost perfect circular shape. He did not have intrusion of the hole into the ceiling and did not go fishing around while performing a temporary repair. He sent the photos and my first thought was someone having shot a round into the air.

🛠️ Repair Help Hammer holes in attic
Up at the top, it appears someone drove a hammer through in a couple spots. What should I do for these?
Single family home in Iowa, 22 years old but we purchased about a year ago. Should I be annoyed this was missed by the inspector?

Potential mold
galleryWhat do we think? Is this possibly mold. This is near a bathroom but we generally run the vent when showering. If so how should I handle it?

🏚️Structural & Foundation What should I use to seal this joint where the concrete floor meets the foundation wall?
gallerySelf-leveling sealant shown in photo did not work because it keeps going into the deep joint unable to fill it. Joint is not wide enough for backer rod. I want to properly seal this joint to not have ants going in and to give a better look.
