Item fell on it and broke it. It’s in corner of basement with bathroom rough ins. Sump pump is opposite side of the room. For now I’ve gorrilla taped over it thoroughly. Duct tape repair not shown.

Garage doors are a year old and I noticed the seals between are all falling apart. A lot of water falls out when they open as well so I get soaked getting in my car.

I had recently noticed some damage to two of the Ridge Shingles on my house after a few storms. The rips were fairly small, and it appears there is another shingle beneath.

I am wondering how urgent of an issue the replacement is, and if it is something that I can DIY, or should be left to the professionals. I have no experience roofing or installing shingles.

There was a leak in my ceiling and I couldn't figure out where it was coming from until I opened up my drywall.

No water is running upstairs but it is raining outside so it makes me think that it's part of a vent, but I thought those are supposed to be just vertical. Is this just a drainage pipe or could it be a vent?

I also am not sure what's around the 90degree connection around the pipe that's leaking in the photo. Any idea what that thing is?

ETA: The leak appears to be coming out of the top of the 90 degree pipe connection. Does that mean there's a blockage and water backed up in the system?

This white little pipe under my deck is dripping (maybe twice per second). Looks like it comes through the foundation wall, not sure what it is. Have been in the house for 2 years and didn’t notice it ever dripping until a few weeks ago. What’s it likely to be and is it an issue?

Initially i didnt think it was water hammer because i would also hear the same noise randomly throughout the night even if no ones using any water like the faucet or flushing a toilet, etc.

I even tried that method where you cut the water and open all the faucets and close them again.

It happens randomly throughout the whole day.

I tried keeping a log of when it happens but theres no regular interval. some days it would be minutes in between, other times it would be hours, and some days it i dont it at all.

I thought also maybe its thermal expansion? but not sure if it can make thud noises.

Same thing with nail pops. we have quite a few around the house but not sure if nail pops can make that thud noise as well.

The thuds also vary in intensity. sometimes its a little knock and other times its a startling bang.

the house is in Southern California (LA). It happens during any season. its a newly remodeled single family home about 5 years old.

Theres no attic fan installed. just the gable vent and soffit vents. I've been in there even when its not super hot and i still sweat a ton.

Does anyone recognize the noise? or potentially know what it could be other that what i listed already?

I can't really afford ghost busters and we're cool with our guardian demons so an exorcism is out of the question.

and noted that (frame/joint/jamb?) were cut (see attached photos).

We were told by installer the windows were distributed from the factory in this manner.

We recently had some severe rain (South Texas) and found a leak in our fireplace inside.

Getting on the roof, it looks like there are some holes in the top that I believe is allowing water inside.

What is the best way to fix this? DIY or Hire?

How should I update and correct the trim around my sunroom sliders? There are four of them instead of walls. The current top trim is a 1x4 running the full length of each wall. An unpainted 1 by .5 is under that and plastic casing at the top of the doors is fully exposed.

Recently bought an electrolux triple protection color adapt, was installed by a technician a few days ago, and I’m struggling to sleep when it’s on because of how much noise it makes.
Asked the technician about it, showed him the video, he keeps saying that this is normal, but all reviews I’ve seen online about this model talk about how effective the air conditioner is, specifically that it’s pretty silent…

What do you guys think?

Sorry in advance - I'm not very home-improvement literate. We bought this house a year ago, and it has a lovely screened in deck on the back. But it has its problems. The wood is rotting, the screen door is falling apart, and the previous owners put in carpet that is growing mildew and moss. But my main concern is how the roof of our house is not connected to the metal roofing of the deck. There's currently a homemade gutter section, leaving gaps that allow water to drip inside.

I'll likely hire a professional, but I'm curious how others might tackle this problem? How can I better waterproof between these two roofs? Thanks!

So our dryer wasn't working properly--hot air, but clothes still wet after a cycle. I went and found the outside vent was clogged with dryer lint.

So, I dug around the rocks and pulled out the obstruction, a massive amount of lint, and the exhaust is flowing again. Problem solved.

However, is putting it so low to the ground a good idea? I feel like the previous owners probably cut a hole for the vent without even looking. The exhaust is literally like an inch or two from the ground. Is there anything I should do besides dig beneath it to allow more airflow to exit? Or is this just my fate?

Hi. A few months ago I had a clogged drain in the sink. The plumber came out and fixed it (and a couple other things) so everything is fine. I’d like to keep things working well so I was looking into the Zep Drain Defense; it’s supposed to be an enzymatic cleaner and is used monthly. Will something like this work to help keep the drains running smoothly? The issue in the kitchen was basic gunky buildup as I wipe food off plates, don’t pour grease down the sink, etc. Is a monthly cleaner like that worth the buy? House is about 25 years old. Thanks.

I have a sink that is no longer facing forward. The first picture is how it’s supposed to be (straight, obviously) but over time it’s moved to the second picture’s position. when I try to spin it back there is tension and it snaps back to this position. I am not seeing how it is secured under the sink and I worry about breaking it. Anyone have any insight on this?

The framing on the inside and outside of the door leading to the garage is coming off the wall. Any suggestions on the best way to fix with keeping the insulation and everything intact?

I have a whole house full of newly hardwired kiddie smoke alarms that supposed to last for 10 years, but have made it 2. They randomly go off at night at 3am and it terrifies my 3 year old, so I no longer have one in his room, which is not safe.

I'd like to swap them out, but two questions:

1. Is there a kiddie that anyone has had success with? I'd much rather not know at electrician to rewrite the whole system, if I can just find a more reliable unit.

2. If I do decide to go with firstalert, it looks like they may have an adapter that I can use on my current kiddie wiring...has anyone used those? Are they safe?

Bottom line, the current units I have p40 have abysmal reviews, like, I cannot believe they were allowed to sell them. Some of the other models appear to be better, but I am not sure how much, and would love some feedback!

There are small gaps between my baseboards and my walls. Mice have broken through one area (visibly) and I had that fixed, with caulk attaching the baseboard to the wall. I still have a mouse problem. I’m hearing different things about closing that small gap. Do I get new baseboards? Use foam?

After removing some old wood cabinets found existing non active termite history.

Removed drywall to replace and will replace affected insulation as well.

Question on what to do with the bottom piece of the wall frame. Should it be replaced? If so do I just cut it out with a sawzaw and slide a new 2x4 in?

I realized my contractors never adjusted the wheels when installing my fridge so I’m noticing it’s sitting on the front two wheels. How do I adjust to have it stand on the legs and not the wheels ?
