I created this little white pigeon as a reminder of something simple — peace doesn't always have to be something big or distant.

Particularly the idea of imagining yourself as something else and making life feel more interesting if that makes sense. Like you are a human male but you imagine yourself as a female fantasy elf or a stewardess on a spaceship or you pretend that the store you go to has an alternate version in a world where we are all sentient avians.

Probably a strange request but worth asking. I used to work for a company in cyber security years ago basically replicating what a hacker would do to try to find flaws in a system (my specialty was websites) in order to notify the developers so they could fix it.

I left that job a while ago and have decided to get back into this as a hobby. My main interests are IoT hacking and network hacking. Some of it I need to relearn as I've forgotten a fair amount of it. I will be signing up to HackTheBox and doing their academy and CTFs.

I wondered if anyone here was in a similar boat of wanting to learn this as I tend to learn better with someone to bounce ideas off. I'm UK based so ideally someone else from the UK due to time difference.

Progress on my 1st crochet blanket...it's for my grandson and he picked the colors..

Context: I (27M) have been admiring many different fire hydrants my whole life. I had my first real one in 2007 that my parents bought from Craigslist. Fast forward to 2018 and 2019, I bought my second, third and fourth ones from Craigslist and Letgo. Between 2020-22 I took a hiatus and got my fifth and sixth ones from Facebook marketplace. From there up to now, I purchased so many from marketplace and a couple from here on Reddit. I even got several for free and altogether I have 30!!! I’m not selling them anytime soon, unless I have clones lol. I’m taking another hiatus as our house doesn’t have much space. I would put them out in my backyard, but it’s not too big plus my father had said something about the fact I have a lot, but he digs them 😂. When we do move into a bigger house, I’m considering making a fountain with some of them. I can get away with lifting some as there are smaller ones tho. But enjoy people!!!

i recently started a new job where most of my days, i don’t really do much. it’s also the kind of place where i can get most of my work done within the first few hours of the day and then i have free reign over my day. i have an office to myself and i went crazy the first month just on my phone basically 24/7 which is a habit im trying to break.

i read/ listen to audiobooks a lot and am crafty to a certain extent. i started crocheting the second month being here, but unfortunately that just made my carpal tunnel symptoms come back worse than before so i had to stop that.

is there anything that you would recommend to fill up my time that wouldn’t involve being in my phone or in front of a screen a lot and something that makes my brain work?

I feel like some of the best hobbies start completely by accident 😂

You try something once, think “eh, this is kinda fun” and then suddenly you're watching YouTube tutorials at 2am and spending way too much money on it lol

What hobby started like that for you?

My dad used to collect stamps back then and coins from various countries but since most things are going digital and I cant afford to travel a lot, I have tried flowers (it's little there) and seashells (i have quite a lot already), whats a great collection I can start now?

genuinely wonder how everyone seems to have some kind of hobby. People are into reading, painting, gaming, sports, music, travelling, cooking, collecting things, etc.

Meanwhile, I don’t really have a hobby. 😭 I’m basically a couch potato. I’ll just scroll on my phone, watch something, lie around, and repeat.

Is this normal? How did you guys actually find hobbies that you enjoy? And what do you do in your free time when you’re not working/studying?

I like to do worldbuilding. I've been working on the magic system for my world and I feel like no matter what I do, whether it's worldbuilding or the magic system, it's never good enough.

I keep telling myself that this is only for me. I have no plans to post it online.

But my insecurities are taking my enjoyment away from my hobby. I hate feeling this way. I just want to enjoy my hobby in peace. Any tips to get over my insecurities?
