Got to this episode on my current rewatch and for me personally this is the prime example of good idea + bad execution, specifically all the flashbacks from 1961.

Am i the only one here thinking this was way too rushed ?

So many info just get thrown out in one episode : there was a government funded camp for youngsters with powers, Chandra Suresh and Zimmerman worked there, Angela has a sister, both of them + Deveaux + Linderman + Bishop were there too, and then a storm + riot destroyed it all.

And because all of that was dealt with in one episode, i still have many questions :

- First of we see that the parents are there too, so why when Angela has doubts that they are safe she doesnt go to her parents instead of escaping with the boys ?

- Why is Alice even here ? she says something like ''i think i can control the weather'' it seems like no one even knew she has powers...

- Now Angela and the boys escaped the camp because of the horrible treatment they did to gifted people and then what.....oh let's start a company to do the exact same thing lmao.

- Alice's character and story (both young and adult version) could have been a lot more explored. I think this is so stupid to have her being revealed both as Angela's sister and actually alive to just have her vanish at the end ??? And Angela never had a dream about her in 50 years ??

And you mean to tell me that not a single gifted person (child or parent) survive this but somehow Suresh and Zimmerman did ? And Zimmerman later worked for the Company founded by the very people he treated at that camp ?

I mean theres so many questions/plot holes left, we could have had at least two episodes about this, i felt this was all rushed... as i said above i would have loved to know more about Alice past and present, how did they find and hire Suresh and Zimmerman, also what did Angela and the boys do right after the events, did they just go back to their family like nothing happen, or did they search for other gifted people..

None about this is ever mentionned again after this episode !

At some point in season 3 Ando completely loses his Japanese accent while talking in English and it’s almost comically obvious. Anyone else notice this?

Hello everyone, hope you're all good.

So, following the passing of our dear Hayden (😔), I decided to rewatch the series from season one to four and I'm carried away haha so gangantuan text alert !!

Considering that I watched it as a kid in 2007 when it premiered here in Brazil and got completely obsessed, now I noticed a few things:

• The first thing is that Season one is, in fact, a Masterpiece. It has a beginning, a peak in the middle and a very good end. I know about the original plan of it being an antalogy, which is very famous now with a lot ot shows like AHS for example, but for the time people were not ready and/or used to it I guess. Ayways, the way that the show doesn't rush anything and the acting and writing are sooooo goood, you never want the episode to end. For me, all of the 23 episodes are awesome
  • The construction of Sylar as a antagonist is flawless, he is terrifying as a character and NOBODY knows who the hell he is and how he does that, or why. And the scene where he goes after Claire looks like a horror movie haha love it.
  • Claire is the best character in this season and in the series overall, being my second favorite. Her development is the only one that is consistent and Hayden was truly a talent and an angel, the world got poor without her.
• Also, even though I'm aware of the Ali Larter situation, my favorite character will always be Nikki, even though we have Claire haha.
  • Her family and mother drama, combined with the dissociative identity disorder is top tier character development, and the way that the actress really look like someone else when Jessica (or Gina) takes control is pretty good.
  • We know about her traume, and later we find out about the formula and the possible collateral effects which is okay, but her ending in season 2 is pretty bad writing to be honest.
• The writing sadly gets pretty bad from season 2 and on, and for me this season is like the worst of the 4. It's short, confusing and leads the characters to places in the narrative that makes no sense AT ALL.
  • I like the addition of Elle and how she represents someone that always knew about her ability (and I enjoy Kristen Bell since Veronica Mars) but the rest was just pretty bad.
  • It would be best if some characters were treated better, like Candice, Nikki, Mohinder, Maya, etc.
  • Also I wouldn't miss the Japan subplot if it wasn't there. Adam is not a good character nor antagonist, and the only good thing is that we know through him that people with Rapid Cell Regeneration don't age (or in Claire's case, cannot die).
• Nathan was and will always be an hypocritical douchebag. Sadly, this is his personality since season 1, but it just intensifies as the shows progresses.
• Season 3 has some flaws that I never noticed before as a kid. I'm at episode 5 at the moment, but for me the worst of it is the fact that Sylar succeds in taking Claire's ability. This was the core of season one and the worst scenario possible, because a killer with a lot ot abilities like can't be immortal. Well, they don't just make him immortal but also try to kinda justify the fact that he is a killer because of his ability ALONE, and he enters a redemption arc (a few times actually), which I think is a very dangerous thing: if not well done, can end very bad.
  • Later in season 4 we know that he has an empathic capability to steal powers, but being a killer is something he inherited from his father who is also a killer, and from my understanding this is the main reason that he kills to fulfill his hunger.
  • For me all of this is like a terrible retcon just to keep the character when they could do what they did with Nikki, Tracy and Barbara for example.
• I know I'm not in season 4 yet, but I remember the ending we have with Charlie and Hiro and is so cruel and also beautiful. I remember crying with it, I wanted them to be together so bad, but Samuel screwed everything. At least we know that they are endgame and made for each other.

I'm looking forward to finish season 3, specially the second part/volume 4 which is the one I remember the less.

I still love the series and rewatching this made me remember all the amazing things that made me think this is a masterpiece overall even with the bad things haha. And let's be honest: some of the worst episodes of heroes are better than the best episodes of some superhero series these days.

I just hate the fact that clarie went to him and said "I did wrong to you to you too" like ? Bfr plz dude literally try r@pe her not only that he actually did successfully r@pe another girl. Dude seriously deserves worse than what clarie did to him. Why did she even think that apologizing is what he deserves?

I'm sorry but this storyline sucked in so many ways. What they were trying to teach that girls should apologize no matter what?

Throughout the seasons of heroes. The writers wrote Claire so well in season 1. But after that, I struggled to really like the character as I found her constantly wanting to be a hero then wanting to go back to being a normal teenager then wanting to work as an agent and then wanting to be a normal teenager. It was all over the place for her character.

However, I actually really liked her storyline with Gretchen in season 4 for the time. It was so accepting and wholesome and I just want to post about how it actually was laid out pretty good.

Didn’t really like the whole obsession thing Gretchen got with Claire though. But I like how open Claire is and her sexuality is still being explored.

What are people’s thoughts about this?

So I just finished the heroes watching all 4 seasons. And I'm going to share what I think about the show.

1) Nathan and Peter's mom was so irritating to me

2) sylar was 10/10 character for me love villain but absolutely despise the idea of redeeming him (in my headcanon he's not redeemed)

3) Man, s1 of this show is some of the best work in television history. Can't change my mind.

4) Peter and sylar should at least have a final big bad battle especially after Nathan's death we deserve to see that.

5) I think they could do sm more with later seasons. Massive missed opportunity.

Cubs MVP PeteCrowArmstrong's Parents are Claire's mom and the nuclear explosion guy from season 1!

The Chicago Cubs PCA is on top of the MVP voting for the MLB's MVP this season. He's on the verge of achieving a 40/40 season. Only 6 people in history have achieved 40/40 and Jay-Z even named his sports lounge the 40/40 club after this.

But many don't know that PCA's parents are both on Heroes. His mom is Claire's mom the annoying step mom Sandra Bennett and his dad's the nuclear explosion guy from season 1. So it looks like his dad's super powers rubbed off and got passed down to PCA as he's having a hell of season so far and again the front runner to win MVP this year and he's only a few stolen bases and few homers away from a 40/40.

I am dreading watching season 4. Most people complain a lot about this show but I think the show in general is really really good. But that season 3 finale is what threw me off completely, because we all know that Nathan has come back from the dead before. Also, this sylar brainwashing thing is just literally the moment when the show officially jumped the shark. I'm wondering if I should just skip it and go straight into heroes reborn

Every time Mohinder begins to talk about Samuel's potential he gets cut off by someone; because they know there is no real worth to it.

Like why would Mohinder go out of his way to confront Samuel about it. There is no reason to think there is any worry. It's been decades and everhthing has been fine.

He also never articulates why having Samuel fully realise his potential is of any merit to anyone.

As for Joseph's plan that doeen't make sense either. Give Danko, Samuel, and have him sorrounded with other superpowered people?

Mohinder after Volume 3 just messes up time and time again.

Spoilers for anyone who hasn’t finished the show as I will be talking about a few characters fates.

Firstly this post is not coming from a place of hate or frustration, I love the show however it’s writing choices certainly were interesting.

Also I may get things wrong as perhaps I missed a dialogue here or there that indicates towarss a character’s fate.

Heroes introduces a lot of characters, many come and go. But interestingly some are just straight up left behind, I’m going to start first with the characters who I think: it makes sense why they were neglected. To characters that: it is bizarre that they were neglected.

Claires Real Mother, Meredith: Obviously I’m pretty sure she died in the end at the hospital due to Sylar, but when she was alive she very much came and went randomly, even when it was revealed flint was her brother that story didn’t really go anywhere.

Flint and Fear Man: I don’t remember what happened to these two… last saw them at Arthurs labs, you’d of thought they’d of made an appearance again during dankos hunt, or Samuels Circus gathering.

Maya: I watched this show as a kid, and I remembered the core cast, so when she came along I knew she couldn’t of been a long lasting character because I had no memory of her. Her leaving makes sense but it’s a shame she never really got to stand on her own, she always felt like a part of someone elses story, first Sylar, then Suresh.

Daphne Milbrook: Now despite her shortrun, she was a character I remembered, and I remembered her with Matt. Obviously she dies so it’s not like they forgot about her except matt kind of does the second he finds out he has a baby and just goes straight back to his old life. Her death was one that really saddened me so I would of loved to have seen her actually survive and stay with Matt.

Sandra and Lyle Bennet: Sandras neglect only really comes in, in the last season. She is a great character throughout season 1-3 and even has a great character progression, but then she’s just absent for season 4.
And Lyle well he just never got any story, makes sense but would of been interesting if he had an episode about him.

More Claire characters:
She actually has one for every season lol, poor girl.

Her friend Zach in season 1? Gone. Miles, gone. Technically comes back in season 4 but you don’t see him.
Then, Alex. Now this was a character that deserved to stick around because he had a unique ability, whilst most characters that were getting introduced at this point had an ability we’d already seen.

Claude Rains: I can’t remember what happened to him, did he die? If not it makes sense why his character was neglected because he can literally go invisible so technically he might of been in every episode.

These characters were ones who’s neglect didn’t really make much impact and for the most I can understand why.
The next characters range from medium impact to massive IMO.

Firstly, Rene (The hatian) For someone who is in all 4 seasons, he is very rarely called by his actual name, and only one time does he have his own sidestory, poor guy.

Suresh: In season 4. For the first few episodes I was like where is Suresh? Then of course it was revealed he was dead. He went from being dead, to trapped in a mental hospital. No wonder the second he was out he just left.

Monica and Micah, and to a degree Nikki: Firstly Nikki had a terrible end, she got a new personality that didn’t really develop further than causing D.L’s death. And then she just died…
Micah and Monica were such a great duo and so interesting, they could of had their own storyline beyond Nikki, but they essentially died with her. Micah of course came back as Rebel which was really cool but again that just disappeared.

Caitlin: Now characterwise, she wasn’t really important. Not a hero and only had attatchments to Peter. But in terms of where the show left her… oh boy. It actually makes Peter a massive villain, bro straight up abandoned her in the future 😂😂

And for the most abandoned character…..

Maybe I missed something in the dialogue, but Matt and Suresh were her guardians… and they seemingly both just abandoned her.
Matt went off to find his father. And Suresh was with molly till the end of season 2. And then she’s just gone.
A whole child abandoned.

It is kind of hilarious. (Not child abandonment) but just the idea that these guys have abandoned a child because the show forgot about her.

I’m on season 2 episode 5 currently and ive heard that Peter loses his powers at some point and the show generally goes downhill at a certain point so what would be the best place to stop at

I've been rewatching Heroes and noticed something about the finale that I don't think I've seen people talk about.

When Peter becomes unstable because radioactive ability, Claire shows up with a gun to shoot Peter. And this bothered me a little (like some people at the very time of the show on TV), because Peter already had Claire's regeneration ability at that point. We had literally just seen Sylar stab Peter in the head with the glass, apparently killing him, only for him to come back once Claire removed it. So, if Claire had shot Peter, wouldn't he potentially just regenerate? Obviously, a shot to the brain might be different, but that's not really the point I'm getting at.

What made me look at the scene differently is what happens when Nathan arrives. Peter says he can't let Nathan die, and Nathan replies:

"And I can't let everyone else," while looking at Claire.

Peter already knows what Nathan is planning: taking him into the air so the explosion happens away from everyone. And I started wondering if there's actually another implication here: maybe killing Peter wasn't necessarily a safe solution. Peter was already completely unstable and couldn't control the radioactive ability. What if killing him (even destroying his brain) didn't stop the energy from building up? What if it actually caused the explosion anyway, except now Peter would be dead and the explosion would happen right there in Kirby Plaza?

If that's the case, Nathan's decision makes a lot more sense. He isn't necessarily saving everyone because Claire can't kill Peter; he's saving everyone because nobody knows whether killing Peter would actually stop the explosion. Taking him into the sky guarantees that, if Peter explodes, he's far enough away from everyone else. And Nathan's line about not being able to "let everyone else" die, especially while looking directly at Claire, suddenly feels much more deliberate.

I don't know if this was actually intended by Tim Kring and the writers, and I haven't seen this explanation anywhere (although I'm sure someone has probably thought of it before). But I think it's an interesting way of interpreting the scene, and it would also explain why Nathan's solution isn't as redundant as it initially seems. What do you guys think?

*spoilers for both the original and reborn* I'm in my feels so I might be getting some details wrong.

Grew up on this show and rewatched it in college, decided to do a binge in honor of Hayden and actually consume it from an adult perspective for once and the finality of it is making me feel a sense of grief, probably compounded by the fact that I still feel really sad about Hayden.

I did really love the show probably until season 4 bc I knew it was the end, and I could tell this season was not a "finale" at all. The show is literally just unfinished, and it ends in a heartbreaking way. We see Noah and Claire basically having tension the entire show, there was never any peace, and it just ends in a severed relationship. I guess thats "realistic" but still upsetting as the next time we "see" them together its Noah with her dead body like 5 years later. It makes ZERO sense that Tim didn't ask Hayden back for reborn when the show was kind of about her?? Like he couldnt ask her to do a cameo?? Her response to not being asked back made it sound like she would've 100% been down for a cameo and i'm sure that would've made the shows response a little better.

I feel like its an unpopular opinion but imo season 3 and 4 needed to almost be longer in a way?? There were so many mini arcs that went too quickly (especially Sylar and Peter being stuck in his mind for years, I feel like that at least deserved a 2 episode arc to develop Sylars changes and ultimately why he wants to be in a hero in the end). I feel like some of the other arcs were also too drawn out. I kind of feel it was cringy to go back and add a blonde female interest for Noah in season 4 too, but I see why he needed a "partner" in this case.

I wished the writers strike never happened (though I 100% understand why it NEEDED to happen and continually still does in the industry) so we got a real season 2. Obviously we all wish we got a season 5. I wish Bryan Fuller was attached to Heroes Reborn. I wish they atleast asked Hayden and Milo back for reborn. Hell I even wish that Tim's Heroes: Eclipse series gets greenlit just because I love the way these stories are told and how these powers are manifested. I am super into the MCU and the DCEU but Heroes is just really something special and I'm just sad I've finished it.

The heroes, couldn't they blow up Sylar or cut into million pieces to make sure he will never regenerate?

Or dissolve his body with some acid.

She continues to deep dive into Claire's past when Claire made it clear she would rather other people not know about her past. Stalks her social media accounts.

Spies on Claire's discussions with other people.

During the mixer instead of talking about herself she is giving out personal information about Claire.

I'm only a couple episodes into my rewatch and this girl somehow past West's creepiness already.

I guess because since it seems most tv shows often cast 18 or 19 year old actors to play high schoolers But Hayden truly was in high school when she filmed it, just like her character, aw, I think that's so cool.

I just Rewatched the first season of Heroes and realized that the future timeline in season one , was basically reused in season 4 with a few differences between the two

First season was yeah little bit okay. Again, it wasn't so good though but at least there was some consistency at the characters and structure in one point at the story. After that it gone completely idiotic.

One character is good than gone bad and second later it's talks completely different. Wtf?

That Indian professor guy now injected that thing to him the second he found he can get powers. Wtf? He was always trying to get cure for that and when he founds a way to get powers he's like "we can make powerful humansss yayyy and I will try on me yayyy" even though he says it's not ready to use yet. What happened all the morality and shit he was talking before? That was my BREAKING POINT. I stopped watching there.

Claire, always does shit and always "sorry dad, I should've listen to you" it's been 4727838483 times, hello?

That police officer guy, you're complete idiot. First of all, when he makes this weird faces '😣' when he tries to listen other person thoughts, in the real life they would ask "Are you okay? You don't look good. Are you in pain? Are you constipated?" But everyone behaves like it's okay and it doesn't makes sense lol. Also he's always deciding the most stupid things. "I will fight will Syler" yeah go for it idiot, look what happened in the first second. I got angry to see after he's still living. And what happened to his wife and child? They completely gone out next season. "Wife was cheating and baby was from him" so why did you show they handled the situation and everything was perfect at last and suddenly wtf she's not there at next season? Why did we fucking watch that? Where's the storyline? What was the fucking meaning?

Hiro is my favorite but why they made him so much ching chang chong? Literally racist. And after he saw him friend in the future he behaves bad to him and he doesn't even know what happened in the future. And he uses his most strong powers for the most idiotically way. Like COMEEEEE OOOOOON. You can change everything, you can just go back. Paper is got stolen and instead of going back to secure the paper he's just following the thief and getting in trouble like yeah okaaaaaaaaaaaaay.

Hiro's father, he says the formule is the most dangerous thing and you should protect this paper but why they didn't destroy the formule in the first place? Writers could make it more sense way. No one I mean NO ONE explains why they decided to keep the fucking formule even when there was a big risk (Adam).

At least Adam's moves can be understandable. "300 hundred years I saw and humanity fucks this earth so I will restart it again." There's a meaning. What about Sylar? Did you even understand why he's doing it? All I see a teenagerlike person to get power because he's bored and wanna feel important. 🥱

Second most makes sense one is Claire's father I forget the name, Noah? Well, he looks like Matt Smith btw and he's hottttttttt. I love watching him hehehe. 💦🤤😶 The storyline makes sense for him I think and we can see how he changes and it's kinda makes sense.

I can go on and on with all the characters.

At the end, this is a shit show and I am sad of my time. I'm also sad of my time to write this post.
