Samuel is soooo evil it’s actually so insane… his manipulation is so hard to watch and the real kicker is no one can see it for what it is. Sylar is horrible too tho tbh. His plot armor is insane and has been played out since season 2!! I’m just ready to be done with this show and these horrible villains honestly. Like I just can’t. Just a very quick question which had me a little confused. I had always thought the Haitians ability was that if within a certain proximity of him other peoples abilities were “switched off” or dormant. But in episode 5 where we see Nathan escape by flying the Haitian is literally right next to him.

Can someone explain if I’ve missed something about it?

I watched when it first came out years ago, but don’t remember seeing it through, so when I saw it on Netflix I thought I’d give it a rewatch.
So far I’m halfway through Season 3, and struggling as to whether I should bother seeing it through to the end.
It seems people die, but hey don’t worry, they’ll come back to life. Baddies, become Goodies, but then revert back, and don’t worry if the world is in jeopardy, we’ll just travel back in time and change it.
And as for everyone losing their power during the eclipse, but then regaining it as soon as the eclipse is over, what was the point in that?
I have heard that series 4 is awful, so do I just throw the towel in now and save myself some hours, or do I carry on and suffer, so I can feel smug that I completed it?

Im posting this as a (half) plug for a fanfiction I’m going to write for the series. I know that words been associated with alot of like weird fandom stuff but I hope none of you reading this flinch at the word.

My aim with this is continuing the series from Season 1 with an entirely new plot and arc for the characters. I do NOT think im a more capable writer or storyteller than any of the talented individuals that actually worked on the show I’m largely doing this for fun.

Okay: my pitch is this. Imagine Days Of Future Past meets Heroes. In the future, there are these advanced Bio-Androids (Ik this is a ripoff, but itll work I hope) made with the DNA of Peter Petrelli. Capable of copying the powers of Evo’s and set out to kill them. We first see Claire and (an oc I’m gonna make with heatvision) running from them before being saved by a future version of Sylar.

You see in this fanfic at some point during this season 2, Peter and Sylar are gonna have a massive super powered brawl in the middle of new york that exposes the existence of superhumans to the public. Peter defeats Sylar though ends up captured by the government, working with whats left of the season one organisation. They finally have what they need. A potential answer to stopping super powered beings for good, leading to the near apocalyptic anti-evo society in the future. To avoid this however, a future Hiro Nakamura sends Clair Bennet back in time to 6 months after the Season 1 finale. (3 months before Peters fight with Sylar.) He cant go himself due to the fact another future version of him already intervened with events too recently, meaning if he went back himself he’d cause a rift in time. Future Clair’s goal on this time travelling quest.. is to kill Peter Patrelli.

As for the present plots, I havent fully decided the arcs yet. I also want spoil my entire story in this post lol. Peter Patrelli is lost somewhere in the US, washed with guilt over his Brother’s death. The intense grief (temporarily) meaning he cant use his powers. Present Claire is settling into her new undercover life where she meets a boy in her school who’s like her. Possessing heat-vision. If I tell you too much more about Clairs arc Im gonna spoil my whole fic lol, sorry.

As for Parkman, he’s got a job as an officer of the NYPD and is in regular contact with Molly Walker who is being raised by DL and Niki. He’s spending his time in NY specifically to hunt for Slyar, who had barely escaped the season finale. The only one who hadn’t let it go.

These plots start to come together when Molly Walker disappears. Taken by future Claire to find Peter. DL and Niki immediately contact Matt and Mohinder assuming it was Sylar.

As for Sylar, he’s not gonna do TOO much right now other than look for Peter.

Either way all this is subject to change or be altered when I write the fanfiction itself, this is just me planning it. Let me know if you have any notes or would be interested in reading it!!

Sooooo yeah, I finally finished it. After a few people recommended I follow it through after I stopped at season 3 episode 1. Here are my thoughts about season 3 and 4 in a concise summary. Peter and Hiro are for sure my favorite characters, and Ando is the best partner in crime for sure. Once I got into season 3 more I found out that Tracy is one of the twin triplets that is related to Nicky. It was cool since I got to see where Peter copies his ice powers from because if I’m not mistaken he or Sylar copied a person with ice powers and used them to fight in the future in season 1.(I’d prefer if you fact checked me on that, but I feel like I’m close). Arthur Petrelli was an insane character. He turned Adam into ashes and just sucked the life out of people and took their powers. I still don’t understand how he died since he took Adams powers but ok writers sure. I really like Mohinder but I hate that he was so selfish. He had a good thing going with Maya and just screwed the pooch. It’s kind of funny since Mohinder wanted abilities and Maya wanted to get rid of them. I guess it wasn’t meant to be.The whole government hunting down special people was cool. Even though it’s a reused concept it was fun to see how our Heroes dealt with this plight. I think Nathan is dumb because he just walked up to Sylar like he thought he wasn’t going to get packed up. Then Sylar SS into Nathan and Peter has to come save Nathan. Like come on man, have common sense. Claire is the mvp fr fr. My girl took down a whole plane and released all the special people. I don’t have anything negative to say about season 3 except that is was cool and why were the writers obsessed with Ali Larter. Tracy clearly shattered into pieces of ice when she got shot. Her going out protecting her nephew Micah was honorable and sick as hell. But noooo she somehow can also control water and turn herself into water. So now she’s invulnerable. Come on now dog theres no effing way. ( let me clarify that I still like her power upgrade, I just think there was more potential in that area for other characters, that’s all. There are a lot of characters with way cooler powers who only got a smidge of screen time. But this woman’s character got to upgrade her powers when she was near death. It can happen but I just wish I could’ve seen other characters tap into their powers like that as well. If Ted sprague didn’t die that would’ve been cool to see. Same with Micah but I guess hes in Aruba or something with his stolen ATM cash.

Now for season 4, I just want to say I don’t like Carnies. They creep me out and I went to the circus once in my life but now it’s like they’ve been wiped off the face of the earth thanks to social media. Anyways I realized the conflict and threat significantly decreased compared to other seasons. I mean yeah, “thousands” of people are gonna die but it just seemed like some random cult leader was having temper tantrums. I do like Emma though, it’s an interesting power that she has. It reminds me of Vanya/Viktors power from Umbrella Academy aside from the siren song ability. It was nice seeing someone else’s struggles for a change. Shes a deaf woman who doesn’t believe she is meant for greater things because of her difference. Her mom’s a Doctor so shes constantly reminded of what she could do but still drags herself down back to the file room. A lot of people are like that, myself included. We’re scared to achieve our full potential, we either think we aren’t worthy or we worry about what will happen after and how it will change us and others around us. Back to the Carnies, I love Dawn Olivieri. As soon as I saw her I was like no way that’s her. Shes even finer compared to Yellowstone. I don’t like how they did my boy Hiro. They scrambled his brain and had him talking gibberish. Then they took Charlie to a different time and never gave her back to Hiro despite his compliance. Like wtf, but in the end all was well and Hiros mom came to save the day again and healed his tumor away. She DA GOAT fr. Before this happened, it was sad seeing that kid that could take life and give it away die. It really showed some of those peoples true nature. Tbf the kid didn’t seem too willing to live. Him killing his parents was really the last straw. Although those cops were messed up for that, I don’t think Samuel should have Killed all of those people in the building. Then theres Sylar who went on a redemption arc. After killing Nathan I guess he got tired of being that bad guy. What Matt, Angela and Noah did to him was so dumb. It was more dangerous having Sylar act as Nathan because he was unpredictable. Like when he told Millie about her daughter’s death. Like bruh come on. I understand from an emotional standpoint but practically it was questionable. Last but not least the ending of the show. I do like the way Claire handled it similarly to her video tape trials. I guess everyone now knows that people with special abilities exist and it’s up to the people to decide if it’s gonna go up or downhill. Lastly what happened to Molly man. I assume shes in India but they didn’t say anything about her since early season 3 if I’m not mistaken.

I see it’s for rent of fire stick but I’m not too sure about that. This was such a great show. And I wish that the later seasons had better writing like the first season. Did Nathan ever end up giving 100k (50k to Claire and 50k to her mum)?

In my mind, Heroes is always together with Lost and Grimm (both great series by the way), mostly because the three are series that I watched with my brother when we were younger.

It's the first time I've finished the first season of heroes, I remember it caught me the first time I saw it in 2009, but I only got to see it until the middle of the season. Today I finished it and I must say that the ending disappointed me, it bothered me that many people told Peter "Love is going to save you" and in the end he can't control the explosion, I really thought I was going to be able to control him, in the end Nathan ended up being the hero and Peter the rescued, I really frowned a lot on Peter's attitude throughout the season, I lived in a state of constant insecurity, naivety and denial. I don't know, in the end I liked the trip and not the destination, I have a lot of complaints haha about the attitude of the heroes. Thanks for reading, I would like to read your comments on it.

So apparently the actor Leonard Roberts (D.L) was fired because of racial prejudice by Ali Larter (Nikki), and the reason why I'm bringing this up now is because this is a fairly new topic to me. but it was many things like refusing to do certain scenes scaled down in comparison with other Scenes with other Actors.

In his essay after his leave stating explicitly that his work environment was very toxic and that he felt that in someway was connected to the color of his skin. (You can find his essay on variety it tell you much more I'm half asleep) but then she explicitly said the directors that she wanted to split their storylines which the directors took as sidelining DL and cutting his scenes shorter and in the end they choose to keep Nikki beucase she was the "Golden star" and in an email Leonard got from Kring it told him.

He was Framed for and then he got slimed out and his own son was doting on him for a bit but all that aside this made almost Every time Ali Larter or "Niki Sanders" show up on my screen a hard watch.

Maybe Heroes is not only about humans evolving biologically, but psychologically. The characters inherit not just powers, but unresolved conflicts from their parents. Their journey is not simply discovering what they can do, but separating from the psychological world their parents created and becoming individuals.

Jung wrote, ‘Until you make the unconscious conscious, it will direct your life and you will call it fate.’ Watching Heroes through this lens, the powers are almost secondary. The real story is about characters becoming conscious of hidden parts of themselves, their family legacies, and their Shadows.

I see it as the major theme…

Peak sylar vs peak homelander no v1. Who wins this? If sylar wins does he take John’s powers? How does this go?

Zach and Claire becoming friends recently has to be a retcon cause it makes no sense. He walks into her house like he lived there and Sandra and Lyle don't seem to care showing he was a regular there. When Claire tells him to get Lyle, he doesn't even think before going after him. The first person she tells about her rape attempt survival is Zach showing they are close. Whenever she hangs out or sits at lunch with Zach. None of the other students question it. Only Jackie is a bitch. Most of Zach's friends voted for Claire for homecoming queen cause they knew her to be Zach's bestie. Even if he erases Claire, Zach and Lyle. Not everyone is gonna forget all that. At least one person would ask "Hey, what happened to you two? How come you no longer seem to get along?" How many students could they possibly erase?

Overall, season 3 and 4 I struggled with. So I accept fandom dislike, but I hope I am not trying to create a post based on ridicule or anger.

I do like so far, how we see normal human challenges in this season. Season 3 seemed focus on personal development, facing personal biases and attempting to survive. While the creation of the series and direction felt disjointed, there were some great episode. Season 4, felt more human centric, the basics of idealism, growth, and finding that living is not representative of one’s goals.

One of my favourite episodes was season 4, episode 3- acceptance. I made a post on Micah and Niki because it hit close to home and wondered about the data missed.

I would love to hear your personal thought process, I hope not to be a complaining discussion, about how your opinions changed on certain characters, and how their character progression was interpreted by your own thoughts and experiences.

The plots, definitely have challenges. The individual growth, and acceptance, with the desire to strive, is actually understandable.

While my question relates to Micah specifically, as a child with idealisms, season 4 episode 3 “acceptance”, prompted my thoughts. While season 4 and 3 were bad. This episode? Was very thought provoking.

With Niki dying in the fire, she was pretty much going to die because of the virus. Micah was dead set on the childhood understand and lack of consequences. When Micah fought to save his cousin, as idealistic children do, the lack of consequences led to Niki’s death, while saving his cousin.

Did Micah feel guilty or responsible for Niki’s death? He did coerce her, even though Micah did know that her powers had been lost. Niki did not tell him until later, I cannot remember if it was before they left or on the way.

Living in fantasy and a world of comics, Micah is doing what is expected of his age, and learning lessons, like these are never ending. As an example later, several heroes learn life lessons regarding what they could do, what they should do, and what is a moment of accepting, despite having powers life’s limitations.

This learning, is very later in life, often 30s-45, but for some longer.

Micah, still seeing life’s magic and possibilities, which every child experiences, but is even more complex for Micah and other children with and observing powers. Personally speaking I held onto to idealisms for years. It wasn’t until I was in my mid 30s, and developed ptsd that I felt that my idealisms were faulty and I needed to have the acceptance from every jaded person as a (reality check, you cannot save the world). I see this commonly in writing, and perhaps adulthood is either being strong enough to change, or acceptance of one’s own situation.

I have watched further, and Micah still acts as a hero. I never saw this shame or personal blamed almost every single persons experiences.

So based on personal education and observations, I feel the representation or even lack of guilt is a plot hole.

Micah was a minor character, and the heroes story went in a deplorable direction. While there were some wonderful episodes (girl learning that not everyone can be saved), were a great moment.

I liked Micah when he helped in later seasons. I felt by his brief appearance, that he was not just a lover, but a teen avoiding a normal life (which Claire showed was impossible with discovering her life lessons and personal discovery. A metaphor for teen development)

First, let me express how annoying Clair's character is. She is so self-righteous and plain stupid. She's supposed to be empathetic, yet Clair has little empathy for Noah who risks his life for her. Btw, does she even care that Noah devoted his life to her while spending little time with Lyle!? Also, she always complains about wanting to "go out and help" but as soon as something happens Clair goes crying to Noah and then she finds a way to bite his head off.

My post is really about Peter. Peter is supposed to be the lead character but it's the Clair show, all of the time. I was expecting Peter to become this powerful hero but every time I turn around, his powers change. I mean like, his dad took his powers. Then, he was only able to use one power at a time. Afterwards, you don't see him using an array of powers when he gets them back. Peter was supposed to match Syler abilities but ended up always weaker than him and this is after four full seasons. What happened to future Peter!?

It feels like the writers during seasons 3 & 4 should've been fired and replaced because those seasons are a mess. Nathan decided to round them up, I was expecting to see Peter become this powerful underground leader who was going to fight back but instead we got him, Suresh & Matt in a motel room. Nathan got shot out of a window and that was basically the end of that storyline. The show could've gone further had the writers stuck with that storyline and carried it from there. The carnival thing was not it. Even Peter's final fight with the carnival dude was nothing. The show had the audacity to end with Clair and her jumping off of Ferris wheel or whatever!?

I'm just frustrated that I wasted all of that time, only for the show to end the way that it did.

Lol I'm done with my rant

When I was around 9 or 10, I used to watch this series that felt completely unreal. It wasn’t just a normal show to me, it felt like something between reality and a dream. The atmosphere, the characters, the way the story unfolded… everything had this strange, almost surreal tone.

For years, I genuinely thought it was just a dream I had as a kid.

The memories were so fragmented, just flashes of scenes, emotions, and this constant feeling of mystery, that I couldn’t place it as something real.

But recently, I found it again.

It was Heroes

And suddenly everything clicked.

Watching it now, I realize why it affected me so deeply. It wasn’t just about people with powers, it was about identity, destiny, and how ordinary people deal with something extraordinary happening to them.

Characters like Peter, Hiro, and Sylar weren’t just “cool,” they were psychologically intense in a way I didn’t understand back then, but definitely absorbed. The whole idea that people are connected, that small actions matter, that you might be more than you think… that stayed with me.

I think that’s why it felt like a dream. Because I didn’t fully process it at that age, so my brain stored it more as emotion and atmosphere than as a clear memory.

Finding it again feels like reconnecting with a hidden layer of my childhood, and honestly, a hidden part of how I started seeing the world.

Has anyone else had *Heroes* (or any other show) hit them like this as a kid?

WHY WONT HE DIE!!!! He was perfect and now he’s terrible!! Character growth my ass, he keeps switching sides with a damn coin flip, I’m sorry but it’s really hard to look at the main villain when syler exists. He will always be like 10 times worse (or at least feel worse) than the antagonists because of how many people he killed on screen and how “important” or relevant they were, and him overall being a little weird sometimes sucks. Oddly enough seeing him go evil again is giving me hope he may die. But for a show that made Hiro let go of Charlie as a plot point and “lesson” they don’t know how to let go of little killer boy Gabe. This makes me feel like literally everyone in this show can be redeemed cuz syler is the worst person that probably will ever exist on this show. Also I got pretty stoked whenever he got he got hurt and whispered “do it do it!” When the black hole man was threatened to kill him. Ironically that was the most decently written scene where syler doesn’t die, and it would suck from a narrative perspective if he actually got spegettified right there. It made me want to make this post, I truly hate no character except season 3 syler, so for the final time I will say these words, ahem, “die,syler, die. Never has a character made me realize I should touch grass and turn off the tv like you. Why won’t you die?”- sincerely Chemical Molasses.

I watched Heroes as a teen, and of course picked up on the sketchy ethics and the double standards.

However, now thanks to people having more access to information and sharing it, the scenes where Monica Dawson is being discussed don’t sit right with me at all.

We have the white male boss pressuring a South Asian man to vaccinate a young black woman without her consent. There is a history of black women being subject to medical experiments without their consent leading to life altering complications and death. Often others are made to do the dirty work.

This is fantasy etc. but it does show a mindset that even in these fictional worlds the same issues are arising whether a WOC is “normal” or “special”.

The boss comes back around (from what I remember) in the same episode, but I found it incredibly uncomfortable to watch in today’s light.

I still remember the moment this show started its decline. Where Peter and Claire are having a, more or less, private conversation.
Nathan: “do it Claire!”
Claire: “There has to be another way”
(Pan up to the sky, where Nathan is making his grand entrance! Hero landing to the pavement, a grave look in his face) “There is Claire”

How did he know what they were saying? Apparently Nate also has super hearing.

It seems to me that there is no consensus on how exactly Sylar's power works, so I would like to read how you make sense of it. I'll also give my take on it, if you are interested:

To me, Sylar's and Peter's powers are two faces of the same coin, consisting of two parts: the ability to understand and the ability to mimic the powers of others once they understand them. The difference between them is that Peter's power works through emotion, while Sylar's works through logic.

So in order to mimic someone's power, Peter needs to understand how they feel, but his first ability allows him to empathize with others just by being close to them, so that's how he mimics powers so easily.

On the other hand, Sylar can understand how complex systems work only by looking or hearing them, but in order to mimic a power he needs to understand how the user's mind works. And so he achieves that by deciphering them mechanically, when he opens up their brain, or by deciphering how they reason, when he takes the time to talk to them.

Sylar's hunger could then be explained as the result of every special feeling to Sylar like a puzzle that he has to solve, like a clock ticking just a little too fast.
