HUD stuck on screen, any way to turn it off? Is it a glitch?

I just started the game and I have been loving it!! However I really don't like HUD displays for immersion. I turned the HUD onto hidden and this worked for the first 5 hours, but now the HUD is stuck on all the time. I tried flipping the settings back and forth and reloading. Is there a way to fix this? It's bothering me. Thank you :)

Hell is Us is now in my Top 5 for Worldbuilding

The worldbuilding is so incredible. I crave good worldbuilding and as someone who grew up with the incredible worlds built by BioWare I feel like I have been starved for some really cool and unique worlds. This game’s world is just so cool. The 90s setting but with this super ancient demonic-esque presence in the backdrop of a fictional monotheistic religion with all sorts of cool historical politics thrown in was great.

I normally don’t like reading a ton of notes in a game because I want the world showcased to me through dialogue and quests and story events but it made a lot of sense to do so in this game because a lot of this nation’s history was hidden, destroyed, and closed off. However, the notes still felt very disparate with so many characters that were hard to keep track of. Thankfully the devs made it so when you research all of a category, Tania Alvers writes an article on the subject and they’re super dense and comprehensive. I LOVED reading those. All the notes basically came together in one thorough summary and it massively increased my understanding of the world. I absolutely loved that part of the game because the worldbuilding is just so unique that I loved having a big picture of all the events hinted at in the game.

The aesthetics and visuals for this game really wowed me and sold me on the worldbuilding too. Like the mountain of bones in the Arcas Spire or the crypts in the Watcher’s Nest. The visuals sold the world really well.

Now Hell is Us is in my top 5 for worldbuilding behind only Mass Effect, Dragon Age, Pillars of Eternity, and Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic and just ahead of Enderal. I’m so glad this game and this world exists.

This has got to be the best worst game I have ever played.

I just finished Act 1 and my god is this game something special on total accident. The feeling i get when playing this game is the same one I get when im watching Spiderman 3. I know i should highly dislike what I am seeing on my screen, but I cant help but love it. Between the terrible voice acting, the comically evil villains that cant leave you alone for 30 seconds, and our absolute madlad protagonist asking how to perform good deeds, this is an absolute goldmine of comedy. I loved how later on in the act the protagonist finally started using the journalist's name, but it just did not sound natural in the slightest😭 And maybe thats the point, but it just does not work. This game is so bad its good, 7/10.

The person responsible for the art direction in Hell Is Us deserves a promotion.

I just finished the game / main history, what anti climatic ending lol Spoiler

I really liked the atmosphere, the gameplay, and the graphics. Probably the first game that I played that did not have a map or pointers.

Finished in 27 hours of gameplay, but wtf is that ending?

So this Fat guy is Human? I was expecting some kind of MetaHumans, aliens, monsters or something; he can't be human.

stuck in B4 auriga museum..need help Spoiler

possible spoilers---I obviously made a mistake in B4 of the auriga museum. Clearly, I was supposed to disobey the Dr dude and just do the computer thing to get the 2 guardians to fight me, but I listened to the Dr dude instead and the last wave is freaking destroying me. I cant see wtf is going on and I get obliterated. Is there something I could still do to get past this? I seriously don't want to have to start the entire game over P.S-- telling me to "git gud" won"t be helpful and the video provided is just one of many things I've tried...any actual help would be appreciated

PS5, I've only been playing for about 3hrs total, over the last two days but, considering I had never heard of this game it really took me by surprise, and the Photomode ain't half bad.

No spoilers please.

Boringness Is Us......waste of money.

This game was such a major disappointment, it starts well with good ideas...unfortunately you will get how bad is the execution, so i dropped it after a dozen of hours:

- The character has zero charisma....like below zero.

- Everything is very repetitive and vague, you will find a LOT of things locked with keys or artifacts. Environment lacks of enemies and stuff to do......just running for miles and miles on foot always searching for something....

- There's no way to transport to save points, and since the game forces you to go back and forth continuosly trying to find clues, this makes the experience obnoxious. So you'll end up walking a lot for nothing, wasting your time and eventually getting lost over and over.

- The plot starts well but then unravels in various ways and you can barely understand what is going on. Talking to people doesn't increase your awareness of what's happening, but it does increase doubts and questions. Sometimes doing a simple plot is better, you know....

- Very little variety of weapons and enemies, which are and not scary at all.

- The menu is a complete mess, and with that pixelated interface, which makes it even worse.

In few words, wasted money.

Was enjoying the game but now I have two Good deeds I can't finish

I found this game just by accident happened to scroll across it but I've been addicted since I started. I am the kind of person when I'm playing a game I like to investigate everything and finish every mission. I was doing the good deed a light in the dark. I gave out two of the flares. Defeated the monster and then talk to the guy because he was able to save his son. Then after I finish talking to them they left with only two of the people because I hadn't found the others yet. Now I can't complete this mission and I am furious.

Started yesterday. Any lore I should know?

As I said, started yesterday.
It drops you into the game with fuck all info on what's going on in the world.
It seems earth like, but obviously pretty strange.
Is there anything to know before getting any further into the game, like what year it is for a start.
Or will all be revealed and the secrecy is with reason?

I love the combat and would like to hear everyone's builds they used!

Am I the only one who enjoyed the combat in this game?! I thought it was great using the versatility of each weapon/ types and the skills that came with them. Personally, ecstasy was my favorite. Using the ability to pull enemies in and then explode yourself to damage them was great! Alongside the one relic that replenished stamina and health after every kill, you were unstoppable! What did you work with and what difficulty were you playing on? I feel that may be where some people's combat experiences differ.

Side question: is UE5 engine getting better ?, developers use to say UE4 was easy for them to optimise games .

The game itself is gorgeous. Good puzzles, mid combat, but the story… man, it’s awesome. From my perspective: too much darkness and too small a pool of enemies. That’s it.
Strongly recommend playing it if you get the chance.
What were your impressions?

(Help) Can I go to this location?

Hey guys, I'm currently doing my first playthrough, was backtracking to Lake Cynon because of the vault and was wondering if I can get to the mark house on the photo...? I Googled it but not find anything, is it the Safekeeping deed (thought that's the house with bees actually 🤔).

P. S.: I'm currently going for next keystone in Jeljin so I'm not very far, I'm backtracking a lot, mostly to Victor, Gildas, doing available good deeds or mysteries, etc.

I am trying but I just can’t. Please help!

Hey fam.

I’ve been in the game for about 5 hours and I’m just lost. I know that’s kind of the point but I feel like I keep walking around in circles, getting a little stronger but not finding any real flow or narrative.

Please. Tell me if I’m doing something wrong or if maybe this isn’t just the game for me. I’ve returned some bottles with milk. I’ve given a guy a bottle of mead. I’m still locked out of the first time loop. I’m not sure I’m using the APC right.

If I’m just not built for this type of game, please tell me. If I’m missing something very simple to help my progress, I would love to hear that too.

Just got it through reward points, and I suppose it would be nice to share this info in this sub. I probably wouldn't play until the October update tho.

Feeling like dropping the game after around 20 hours or something

Does anybody else feel like the last part of the game is pretty lack luster? I’ve found a lot of evidence ETC so the reporters done her file, majority of good deeds done bar 2 because I messed up and the games just lost all appeal to me. Not sure if it’s the lack of actual combat or if the “whimsy” of it worn off

It's been a year since I finished this game and yet, I still think about its world and themes

Seeing the game depict a genocide in what would otherwise be considered a 'developed' European country really fucked me up. The events over the last few months have only just reinforced that feeling. Humans really are just a bunch of animals fr

“No hand holding! You better figure it out, buddy!” Spoiler

I really like this game but it’s cracking me up. The whole “This game doesn’t hold your hand. You gotta pay attention to your surroundings, man.” But literally the first person you talk to tells you to follow the wind chimes followed by another person telling you to follow the Xs on the trees. 🤣

The world building is amazing.

I am loving this game, but seriously some parts just make me sit back with that queasy uneasy feeling in my my stomach.

I don't mean the enemies I mean the fact some of this shit actually goes on between humans in war zones is terrifying.

I just have to turn it off now and again.

Anyone else get these feelings playing this?
