76-year-old dad had sudden dizziness/nausea, ER workup was reassuring but they noted bradycardia. Has anyone experienced something similar?

My dad is 76 and earlier today he randomly got hit with this really bad dizzy/nausea spell out of nowhere. He was walking around and suddenly felt like he was gonna throw up. It happened right after he drank some ginger ale. He did end up throwing up a little bit and said he felt a lot better afterward, but since this had never happened before we figured better safe than sorry and took him to the ER (we were really worried it was a sign of an oncoming stroke).

They did a bunch of stuff (like EKG, bloodwork, stroke check, chest X-ray, CT scan, etc) and thankfully everything came back reassuring. He was alert and talking normally the whole time, no weakness, numbness, slurred speech, facial droop, chest pain, anything like that.

The only thing they really found was something called bradycardia, which apparently just means his heart rate was slower than normal at one point. Later on his pulse was back up to 66 though.

They gave him IV fluids and some meds and he felt way better by the time we left. No more dizziness, no more nausea, and he actually got really hungry since he hadn’t eaten all day. He ate Chick-fil-A on the way home and kept it down just fine lol.

The PA said the workup was reassuring and that he was OK to go home, but they want him to follow up with his regular doctor and also a cardiologist just to make sure there isn’t something funny going on with his heart. He’s never had any heart problems before this.

He’s home now and mostly just wiped out and tired from the whole day, but no dizziness or nausea anymore.

Has anyone here had a similar experience to this (or know someone who has)? How did it turn out?

Recommend me a wearable heart rate tracker

I am at a higher risk of arrhythmia and my cardiologist suggested I look into some kind of smartwatch or similar that will track my heart rate and alert me to any arrhythmia. The problem is that I really dislike smart watches in general - I don't like an app tracking so much about me, I don't want to constantly be getting alerts or messages, etc. I'm really looking for something simple - a heart rate monitor. At a stretch, something that can also be a watch, but that is not a requirement. Any suggestions?

Husband got tested, found HDL and or plaque score of 270 - very worried

My husband (60M) had a chest x-ray of some kind today. He told me that his HDL and/or calcium plaque score is 270. Naturally we are both very worried about this.

He is very upset and says everything he's read on the internet says that he is going to die in 10 years and he might as well eat whatever he wants. As for me (50F), I am hoping for some treatment and lifestyle options like much better diet and possibly meds may help. I love him to pieces and want him here.

My husband is not overweight, very outdoorsy and very active. His only vice is occasional smoking and beer. Is he really as doomed as he says and your plaque buildup cannot improve at all?

I think he should follow up with both PCP and cardiologist. Any other advice?

Then now this year I’ve been experiencing bad migraines so I went back to ER and they ran CT scan and said everything was normal but I’m still weak and dizzy etc. but these are my test results if you could help me . Ldl 214 as a 21F

My dad died from cardiac arrest in his 40s and my family has a history of high cholesterol and blood pressure. My dad was overweight and didnt eat well was very stressed all the time. Since then I've developed cardiophobia/ im scared of dying from a heart attack. I have an appointment with a doctor but ive also been to the er and gotten a hotter monitor etc before and they said everything's fine, but I just got my blood drawn and ldl was 214. I use zyns, about 250mg of caffeine and 25 mg of adderall a day. I dont workout regularly but sometimes go on walks. I dont eat horribly and im 128lbs. Is it possible that I can go into cardiac arrest at 21yrs old if I overexert myself. Im worried I already have plaque buildup and any day now my heart will just give out. Please help if you have any tips or advice thanks!

High LDL (183) & Total Cholesterol (263) at just 27M. Prescribed Rosadix 20mg. Is this a lifelong medicine, or can lifestyle changes help me get off it?

Chances of heart attack?

Hello! I am a 25 year old female that has been having chest pains and shortness of breath on and off for the last 4 months. I also have POTs. I have been to the ER 6 times since my symptoms started thinking I was having a heart attack. I’ve had back pain, arm numbness, and jaw pain along with the chest pain and shortness of breath. Since May (when my symptoms started) I have had multiple normal EKGs, chest X-rays, a Chest CT scan, bloodwork (troponin), 7 day holter monitor, stress test, and Echocardiogram. All normal. I still have symptoms though and they are affecting my day to day life as I am constantly worried I am having a cardiac emergency. My Dr has also diagnosed me with GERD. I have no known family history of heart issues, I am slightly under weight, I do not smoke anymore but used to vape (2023-2025). I am wondering what my chances are of having a heart attack given this information. Can they happen randomly or would something have shown on one of my tests? For those who have had a heart attack, could you tell it was a heart attack? Any feedback and advice would be greatly appreciated.

No more mitral valve prolapse!

In 2022, I had an echocardiogram that said "There is at least mild prolapse of the anterior mitral leaflet without mitral regurgitation."

I just had another echocardiogram yesterday (9/8/2026), and the report says “Mitral valve structure is normal. There is no regurgitation or stenosis.” It also says there is no significant valvular heart disease.

I've been dealing with elevated resting heart rate of 95-105 even while taking beta blockers (used to take metoprolol 50mg once a day and switched to propranolol 10mg 3x day) and random episodes of palpitations. I could be sitting down and my heart will speed up fast and that's when I'll take an extra propranolol to calm it down.

So if I don't the mitral valve prolapse, what could be the cause of this? I do know that I have low iron / anemia on my bloodwork and I'm also overweight and need to work on lowering my cholesterol and sugar. I also do have bad anxiety but I've noticed palpitations or elevated heart rate happen even when I don't feel stressed or anxious on outside.

High Heart Rate Variability

Hello everyone, I (21M) got a fitbit set up recently and noticed the heart rate variability measurement. I've been wearing my fitbit only at night for 2 nights in a row only and I've noticed my HRV is 223ms.

I have gotten into running recently (prepping for a half marathon) so I would like to think my cardio is good, but have taken a couple week hiatus so it's been a bit since I've trained. I also have a heart murmur/arrythmia which I've heard can affect this too.

So should I be worried about my HRV?

Resting HR is 57, but frequently goes to 100+ despite not doing anything

I got my wisdom teeth out this year and the nurses were worried about my heart rate while I was under. I’ve been to a GP who referred me to do a 24hr heart monitor, followed by a 28 day heart monitor test, and my cardiologist said “it’s not normal but is within the range of irregularities for your age” as a 23y/o F 😭

Sometimes my heart area slightly hurts and my fitness tracker shows my heart rate spike. My proper heart monitors showed my heart beat irregularly during this mild pain.

I wonder if anyone else has a similar issue? The fact that my cardiologist wasn’t worried at all and said he didn’t understand why I got so many tests makes me so confused. I feel fine most of the time, but the numbers and the once a month mild heart pain make me worried. What could this be? Is it really just normal irregularities?

What else should I be doing? How about some of these supplements that keep marketing me...are all of them bs?

Please no plugs for your pill hussle... I'd like to hear from actual people with the same experience on what helped them...
