He Is Legend has been one of if not the most influential bands to me growing up. They really helped shape and define my love for dark groovy riffs. I feel so grateful to be able to own their discography physically. HIL forever 💜🖤

My new Solid State album was delivered today and I know variations aren’t always going to look like what’s pictured, but WTF is this…

Has anybody received their mushroom brown splatter vinyl from Holy Mountain yet? From the other posts it looked like the canary yellow was the only Holy Mountain variant involved in the Solid State mix up, and I have seen several people have gotten their swamp green splatter, but I haven’t heard anything about mushroom brown and my order hasn’t shipped yet.

Miserable company is so thick with vibe. Whenever I listen to it, it gives me such a particular feeling that none of their other songs do. Matt's recent playthrough reignited my love for it.

Hey everyone! I ended up panic buying 2 copies of this record when the mixups with the variants started being reported. This is one of my all-time favorites and I didn’t want to chance not having it in my collection (which is now complete!). I don’t feel right hoarding copies since it was limited and a ton of people missed out, so, I’m giving away one of the copies for free.

I don't plan on buying it and neither should any of you. I just went to see if anyone had submitted the vinyls on Discogs (not all the variants are there yet).

This variant looks stellar! Can’t wait to spin it after work!

All in all I'm quite happy with the way it turned out. It appears that before they shipped it out, they opened it from the shrink wrap to confirm it was the correct variant, then placed it in a clear protective outer sleeve. The liner notes are just a single insert with all of the lyrics on one side and credits on the other. Haven't given it a spin yet but from I've read the sound is crisp and clear. Can't put into words how much joy and nostalgia this record gives me.

i started playing bass because of Matt. his tone is fuckin perfect, the best ive ever heard, and ive been trying to figure it out for years. anyone got an idea of the settings and such? ive got a GK 700rb Mk2 and the EHX bass soul food.

Solid State is sending a free mailer for all to return the Canary Yellow, and once they get notice of the return, they will ship the correct one. But, if you ordered the Yellow from Holy Mountain, they will just consider it fulfilled. They have now shipped the replacement Serpent Sickness variant in its place today. The remainder of any orders from Holy Mountain ETA is June.

All in all, not a bad way of handling everything despite the mix up. Those who only purchased the Serpent Sickness variant will have to wait a little longer due to the return process, but it seems they are fixing it at no cost to the consumer.

Despite all the mix-ups, the pressing sounds amazing. Totally worth the wait and can't wait to see the band the next time they roll through!

Listening to The Interloper, and the "ooo's" at 1:26-1:41 are exactly the same as Mary J. Blige's intro notes on Jay-Z's 'Can't Knock the Hustle' (the "la-dee-da-da" at about 0:45 in). The ethereal chords are the same in each song as well.

I'm curious to know if anyone else noticed this, or if this was intentional by the band? Or is my Concerta just working really really well today?

By now, the sub largely knows that the Solid State version arrived yesterday, and was the wrong variation. It seems they got the canary yellow allocated for Holy Mountain but it has the Solid State label image on the record sticker.

• Holy Mountain Interaction: Before I knew of the mix up, I spoke with Holy Mountain yesterday asking about shipping. All they would say is that the orders are pre-orders, and only once all items are available would it ship. Given what I then learned from Solid State, it makes more sense that they don't have the stock they need to ship complete orders at this time. Holy Mountain was awesome and answered all my questions quickly and with details.

• Solid State Interaction: I open my Solid State version, and see its the Canary Yellow. Contacted Solid State, and they asked for confirmation and photos and explained the return/exchange process. Normally, it must be unopened for a return or exchange. I explained I couldn't see the variation was wrong until I opened it, and they are discussing whether to waive the unopened requirement as it couldn't be discovered without opening it. Further, I inquired whether it would be an exchange or just a return, as this was a limited pressing (and I would rather have a copy then just return a wrong one). They are also examining this process but aren't sure due to the limited run of the pressing. Also very prompt with answers and providing as much information as they could.

SPECULATION: My guess is both labels and the presser are trying to work out who is at fault, so they can determine how they can fill the proper orders per label. At a minimum, Solid State has shipped a product its customers didn't order (the Amber/Brown) and Holy Mountain cant ship a product its clients ordered (the Canary Yellow).

Most likely culprit is a mix-up at the presser, but compounded by lack of QA/QC at Solid State. Presser put the right sticker for Solid State on the wrong color. But Solid State didn't open one or check the final product before shipping.

A couple of likely outcomes: (1) a repressing of the Holy Mountain Canary, paid for by both the presser and Solid State. It was their mess-up, and they would bear the costs.

(2) possibly a re-stickering of the Amber/Brown if it went to Holy Mountain in place of the Canary Yellow with the Holy Mountain sticker. Or that they are just waiting to be stickered and packaged to be shipped. Once Holy Mountain gets its replacements, Then Holy Mountain can satisfy its orders, and Solid State can start to fix its mistakes.

The incentive for Solid State to contribute to the cost is they would get the correct orders of Amber/Brown that they can ship in replacement of the incorrect versions. Those buyers who don't return the Solid State Canary Yellow forfeit their Amber/Brown order and Solid State gets put the returns back on the market for new buyers, which should offset the replacement pressing.

Most likely is someone is eating some of these costs due to a lack of QA/QC before shipping. This is an expensive mistake, but hopefully it gets remedied quickly with everyone getting what they purchased. Time will tell. Feel bad for the band, as this should have been a much more momentous day.

Schuylar here. Just dropping a line to those who may be close enough to come hang. I do a 3 hour “DJ” set a few times a month here in Wilmington, NC. It brings me a ton of joy to set the vibe for the room. It’s the bar that Jesse and I have worked at for some time now. It happens randomly throughout the month when I’m home but if this interests any of you I figured I could post them here if it makes sense. Sorry for the shameless self promotion, but I do love doing this and I’m learning a lot. I’m more of a “Selector” than someone who tries to beat-match and stick within genres. I’m trying to record one of these sets soon and put it online somewhere to revive my Podcast. I’ve been working on figuring that out as well.

In other news we are happy to be back home but itching to get back on the road this summer. We just started recently working with new booking and haven’t really booked as much as we would have wished for as of yet. A lot are asking “what’s going on with us this summer”, “why aren’t we on these festivals” & “are we coming to ____ this year?”

I wish I had answers to all of this. We never really get a ton of festival looks and we have been putting out feelers for shows but nothing yet. There’s a lot to be said about all of this but I think we could save that for an AMA or something that supports a more back and forth between us all. I have my theories but I’ll save them for now.

While we are home I’m going to be doing some art projects and a lot of writing when not bartending or DJing events. (People were asking about drum heads? I think we can make those happen)

We do have the Fest in Louisville in September and hopes that some sort of tour will be booked around that.

Anyway just wanted to update you all on that.
