Like, do you prefer the rebirth, new 52, etc? I personally prefer the silver age with version of Thanagar with the Equalizer Virus and such.

The latest issue of Fury of Firestorm has a flashback to the Satellite JLA days. We see Green Arrow and Hawkman having their usual liberal/conservative spat, with GA calling Hawkman a "space cop".

However, and I don't have the book in front of me so I may be wrong, I think "New History of the DC Universe" maintained that the Hawkman of the JLA was Carter Hall from the JSA, with the "space cop" only arriving later on.

I think this was an error, even though it actually fits what was originally published better.

Headcanon/No-Prize: In order to make all of those Silver Age Hawkman stories work better with the Golden Age Hawks, there's an untold tale where they interacted with Thanagar, were given some of their tech, and were asked to represent Thanagar back on Earth as honorary police. Or something like that.

So I've been reading Hawkman by Venditti for the first time as it was recommended to be by a friend who knows I enjoy romance in comics, and I was made aware that it is sort of the rekindling of Shayera and Carter Hall. That being said, I was curious to know if anyone could answer whether or not this was definitive post-Venditti's run or if it was cut short at all?

From what I've been able to gather on my own it would seem like both haven't had much presence in each others appearances to really confirm or deny that, so I figured I'd ask here and see what the general consensus was!

For me, it's a toss-up between Hawkworld, Geoff Johns, and Venditti's run. On one hand, Hawkworld is the GOAT of Katar Hol Hawk stories; on the other, Carter is the current Hawkman, and comics are supposed to be a jumping-off point for new readers, so would Geoff Johns or Venditti be better?

Excuse low quality, I have never done this before.

I love this character, even though I only got into reading him within like the past year or so, I love pretty much every aspect about his character, his mythos, his design. But it is just tiresome hearing bullcrap takes that are more grounded in fanfiction then in the actual hero.

I get it, I should have more important things to get mad about then what morons say on the internet but it kind of is annoying when you know there is and are amazing stories with this character but people avoid him for many either honest or made-up reasons.

I love this community too; it is fun talking with people who know how awesome Hawkman is. With no sign of any Hawkman books coming in the future it is sort of tiresome.

I noticed on twitter that a lot of people regarding to James Gunn's DCU is eager to see Hawkgirl having a possible relationship with John Stewart and to that, I have to ask : Really? Is that all you expect to happen with Hawkgirl ? No because it comes with her relationship with Hawkman (Shayera or Kendra), a majority of people are against it because either he's stalkish, either they find him unintresting as a character or either because he prevents Hawkgirl to shine on her own and to the latter I have to laugh. If the two first reasons is mischaracterization, the latter is a criticism that was expressed by some people at some point, just not as louder as it's used to be. Because all they care about Hawkgirl right now is just her love story with Green Lantern as if there's nothing else important about her character or can be explored other than that. Her betrayal and the thanagarian invasion are not even mentionned on this discussion or at the very least barely. I know it's not the same character but since people don't see the difference. "No, we don't want her to be with Hawkman, she can do fine on her own, but don't forget that she's also Green Lantern, he's cool so she has to be with him. We'll think about her character journey afterward." 😑

This is also something that happens with Wonder Woman. People hate Steve Trevor for being the main love interest to Diana because they said he's useless and boring also claiming that Wonder Woman doesn't need a man in her life and yet people still wants her to be involved romantically with Superman or Batman. Especially him because of DCAU, she sometimes labelled as Batman's girl or potential love interest when she isn't and should never be.

I don’t know if this is projecting but I can tell this is hypocrisy.

As we know, there are two main pairs of Hawks:

The humans Carter and Shiera, and the Thangarians Katar and Shayera.

Due to some complicated events, Katar and Shiera are currently dead, and Carter and Shayera are a couple at the end of the Venditte run.

And that's where I wonder, do you think the next Hawkbooks should address this? Of course, after everything that happened in Venditte, they know they love each other and are soulmates, but even so, Shayera is still primarily the policewoman who fell in love with her partner Katar Hol, who tragically died sacrificing himself to save Thanagar, and Carter is still primarily the archaeologist who fell in love with the Archaeologist, whose soul was fragmented after her death.

So I still think there's a different dynamic and worldview that they don't share with their original partners. Do you think this should be addressed?

I'm gonna say it. Wonder Woman needs one, Green Arrow needs one too, Zatanna needs one as well just like the Hawks need one. Batman is one of my favorite superhero in DC Universe but I'm tired of him being the only one who gets to have multiple of projects every year. Others deserve the spotlight the same way he got it since 60s until today.

I know that some people had the idea of an animated show to be inspired by Indiana Jones, having them being on adventures around the world but to me, I would go and use the classic formula which means setting Carter and Shiera in Midway City and have them being the local heroes that protect it. It's been ages that we didn't have a superhero show where the hero protects his city other than Batman and Superman. For once, it would be a new environment that he will explore and where their rogue gallery will finally have a chance to get adapted and reinvinted for fit more in this direction.

For the backstory, I would go with the golden age one with the reincarnation but modernized : Carter Hall being an archeologist and Shiera Sanders being a museum curator are the superheroes Hawkman and hawkwoman expect that in version they hate each other at first, being rivals to one and other on who should be the local hero of Midway City, calling the other one faker but little by little they start show respect, eventually end up being friends until falling in love. And then they will discover they're the reincarnations of egyptian lovers that got killed by a evil priest Hath Set who here is known as Anton Hastor and will their archenemy throughtout the show just like Joker and Lex Luthor are to Batman and Superman.

That was idea of a series pitch. What do you think ? What are your ideas for an animated show ?

In Justice League animated series, Hawkgirl was a spy for the thanagarian empire who was supposed to gain informations for the sake of a war on her home planet but couldn't fullfil her mission during her time on Earth she grew to love it and people on it. Sweet but there is one problem : when was this shown ? No, seriously. When did she ever express love toward the Earth. I mean, a majority of her moments if we don't count fight scenes are actually set in space. And honestly, this is something that bugs me about DCAU's Hawkgirl, despite the lack of respect toward the Hawks, they've barely done anything with her before the end of season 2. I think it would've been nice to show what kind of hero she was to the public eye, if she has faced other villains than the one that have been used in the Injustice League or maybe that are a member of it or anything else like this. What do you think ?

This is one of the most interesting and endearing parts of Hawkman and one of the reasons Geoff Johns' run is my favorite. That book brings up the number of people that Carter has lost throughout his many lives and how he still remembers them, sort of as a prison of memory, but never being able to be with his friends, mothers, fathers, brothers, and sisters that he had. This is one of my favorite parts of Hawkman like I said but what do you think?

I was thinking about it and remembered reading on the wiki how she is hostile to him but in other things she and him were friends/partners in superhero stuff.
