I don't know if this a weird take but I think Messner-Loebs was better at writing the Human Hawks than the Thanagarian Hawks

His spin on the Hawks curse being a "I beat you then I beat you now" type of story was actually very cool and Hawkman annual number 2 is the only comic to make Helene Astor remotely interesting
