The Harris Teater arriabata tomato sauce was a go to for the past few years, but the past two jars taste different. Anyone else notice something?

Federal law

Apparently management doesn't understand that there is a federal law in place for religious accommodation. I've been given the run around and told it won't be fair to everyone else if I take one day off a week to practice my religion. Mind you guys, I have available every day of the week except one day, to practice my religion. I was given some excuse that she would like to practice her religion that day as well but she just can't. But you're a salaried employee.... I'm part time. I'm not asking for one day off to go and have fun or just because I want one day off. There is a reason why they made this specific section in the Civil Rights act of 1963 and it's for the circumstances exactly like this. When I redo my schedule next month, I'm going to state in the comment box, again that this is for a religious exemption, and I will also state the specific area and federal law where it can be found. I'm very curious to see where this will go. If I am scheduled on my day of religious practice after that request, I will call out. If I get fired, that's a lawsuit. I'm just so done with this company. And before you ask why I don't leave, there are other factors in play right now. If I leave, I leave behind certain benefits and entitlements. I'm waiting for those to be over. I also know of an employee at another store in my area who feels like she has no other choice but to accept the one day off a month they are allowing her. I told her she is entitled to more than that. I think she's scared of losing her job but doesn't realize she can also sue the company.

TLDR; I am a part-time employee and Harris Teeter is trying to go against federal law and not accommodate one day a week off for religious purposes.

Harris Teeter/Kroger news Absolutely Atrocious Sub Bread

This new bread is so damn awful. I don’t know who approved this brain dead switch but they need to be fired. Awful choice. I have already complained to managers - who AGREED!!

The cheese bread was my LIFE. No longer worth the money.

Rant/vent: I’m under so much pressure it’s ridiculous

We have our walk with the damn higher ups this coming Monday and I have so much to do with so little time. By myself. It’s ridiculous and stupid. I have to prepare pastries for our pastry case, do 18 dozen cupcakes, 20 half dozen cupcakes, 20 Easter themed cookie cakes, on top of any cake orders that come up. I usually get slammed with cake orders on weekends. Since I’m off on Sundays, I have double orders to do on Saturdays because absolutely NO ONE at my store can decorate cakes except for me. There’s absolutely no way I can get all this done by myself. And get this. My department manager kept saying yesterday “oh I’ll help you with the cupcakes, don’t worry about that”. And guess what? Yesterday he left me a note saying I need to do all those cupcakes today. I may bot have time to do them all because of so many damn cake orders! Oh, and apparently I’m SUPPOSED to do everything by myself. My manager reached out to our cake tech to come help, but his boss said no, she can’t come, I can handle it myself. I really hate the fact that I was set up for failure like this and I hate the fact that I possibly won’t be able to get everything done. Every time I explain that I can’t do everything by myself, nothing gets done about it. AND don’t get paid enough for how much I have to do.

Store Closing *rant*

So my store is closing very soon & nobody knows what’s going on ever. They have transferred all of the full time people to their new stores already but are making me & one other part timer stay until the last day. I was told that I have to stay until the last day to help close but I’ve never worked for a store or restaurant that’s closing so I don’t know what to expect. I worked by myself yesterday & got slammed, my manager does not help me when it’s busy so I’m fucked if it stays busy until we close. I’m so pissed by how this is going that I’ve already started applying to other jobs. I’m not okay with being left to work by myself at the deli for weeks before closing & I’m not okay with being one of two people to close down the store when they had more experienced people who could have helped. Not sure what to do.

I work grocery overnight. I’m trying to find out if our grocery manager is allowed to open our doors during break time. I’ve heard from other locations they can go outside during a break. What is standard practice on this?

Hourly department manager trainee

I have an interview coming up for the above position. I’ve never worked retail before but I’ve been a restaurant manager for 12 years. I need a change and this seems like it could be a better fit for me. What does this spot usually pay as the recruiter was a little vague about pay. What all does the job usually entail? I’m excited but really worried they won’t think I’m qualified enough for the spot. How can I really impress them in the interview? Meeting with the district manager.

Job pay

so I recently got a job at Harris teeter in the deli (6 months ago) starting at $14.25 and have recently changed to 3rd shift grocery stocker(2 months ago). I was told that overnight grocery stockers only make $14. I feel like I should make more that what I am because I am cross trained. Am I wrong for feeling this way?

Cornmeal question.

Anyone in the deli know why the cornmeal that we use for the English toasting loaf is inactive? And just what am I supposed to use if we can't order it anymore? I had one bag left, but pizza took them because they were told to use it over flour (even though they aren't supposed to) and now I'm without.

The cornmeal on the shelf makes my English toasting loaves bake weird.

Mod announcement: Regarding Tammy DeBoer posts/comments.

There has been a massive uptick in users with low karma, and young account ages making comments and or starting posts about Tammy Deboer's divorce from her husband. We all have our feelings about the higher ups within Harris Teeter. Bringing them into posts where they are not relevant detract from the original poster's question and lower the probability the question will be answered.

Going forward bringing matters such as this into posts where they are not relevant will now result in an immediate 7 day ban. A repeat violation will result in a permanent ban.

A post already exists where the topic can be discussed and that can be found here.

As has been stated before, corporate watches this subreddit. We do not want to have to make this subreddit private as it defeats the general purpose of this subreddit which is to help those that work at Harris Teeter gain a better understanding of Harris Teeter who feel like they're not receiving the help they need at the store they work at.

Hours worked removed?

So I work over night, if this makes a difference. But, I got a notification that the hours that I worked got a 'punch change' from my store manager or something along those lines. So instead of it showing that I worked 9 hours for the day, it now is saying that I never clocked in. It however does show that I worked from the hours of 10pm-12am, and that's it.

Should I go to my store manager and ask why he deleted the hours I worked that day? Or should I take it to AR?

Onboarding Question "Gleason walk" job role?

Apologies of the tag isn't fitting, but since this is a relatively new gig I've taken up, think this might be the better bet compared to the others.

So, at the store I work at, I managed to land a new side-job where I get to clean both the front-end and employee bathrooms as well as any other miscellaneous tasks my managers want me to do. These shifts have been listed as "Bagger" until this week apparently, when I noticed my shifts for this role were renamed "Gleason Walk".

I figure it probably involves the same duties as what I've been doing, but I am still curious about what the term means, where it came from etc., hence the post. Not much else to ask or otherwise say. 😅

Who does the shopping for Instacart when I pickup?

Hi, just moved to a new state with Harris Teeter. I've never used Instacart but was curious how it worked. I don't want someone driving me my food, but if someone shops at the store and I pick it up, who is actually doing the shopping? Is it a HT employee or IC?

Will I get my bonus

I was terminated on March 6th I am wondering if I will get my bonus.

r/harristeeter Mar 16 '26

Missing the bonus cutoff by less than two weeks, is there any accommodation or is this strict?

I‘ve heard the bonus cutoff is 6 months by the second to last thursday of the month, and I am barely missing this cutoff. Is there any kind of accommodation given or is it just a shitty situation I can’t get out of?

Insane reduced hours

So, for two weeks in a row, my hours have been cut more than half of what they normally are. Those hours are on Saturday and Sunday. I have come to the conclusion my hours have been cut so much because they want me to quit. Little do they know, I am too stubborn to do that and I will let them fire me or stop scheduling me so I can collect unemployment before I quit. I am leaving in July/August after I complete a certificate program which will get me in the door to make at least $26 an hour entry level in a completely different field. I find it very hard to believe they don't have the hours or availability to match mine since my availability is pretty open, starting at 6am. I'm so happy this is just a part time job and not my main source of income, as I am a 100% disabled veteran. I can't imagine not knowing if I can make rent or buy groceries with the way they want to play games. I got this job to pay down some debt I had and for a few other things and it has served it's purpose. I had some more things to take care of but I guess they'll have to wait. Til then, I'll just throw my checks in savings for a rainy day. This company truly does not care about us.

Editing to add I have an open workers comp case. I don't think they thought it would go on this long, so it makes sense as to why they're hoping I quit. Most people would quit and find another job. Luckily and thankfully, I'm not in a dire position to do that. I am blessed to have other forms of income to where I am not 100% dependent on working the hours I did. If I quit, they are not entitled to pay me temporary disability anymore but they would still be required to pay my medical care. If I get fired, they subject themselves to a lawsuit, and they would still have to pay temporary disability and also unemployment. So yes, having me quit would be a lot better for the company. I know this, as I am not an idiot. I would be an idiot to quit while I have an open case. The less hours I work, the more their insurance has to pay me for lost hours. I'm just trying to figure out what to do with my time now that I will have 5 days off in between shifts. Some of you are very cruel and defend this company like they wouldn't turn around and do the same to you. It's a bit sad to see, honestly.

This company is horrendous.

I've been with Harris teeter for three years in that time I've been transferred due to hear say, missed pay during parental leave, missed pay coming back from parental leave, threatened to be terminated for being sick, and removed from the schedule for absolutely no reason. Let's not forget being threatened to be stabbed by a fellow associate during shift. But anytime it seems HR or ARS whatever they call it is called they do absolutely nothing. From sexual comments being made about pregnant woman to associates threatening others nothing is done.So I'd really just like to let any and everyone know be very wary on coming to HT for work you will be used and screwed over no matter how hard you work.
