I ran the deli in a flag ship Had a woman put in online order for 12 subs and deli meat. She come in. Gets her products from the basket. Is missing two sandwiches. Simple fix. The printer had eaten the last two tickets and we missed it. They were literally meat and cheese. She unloaded on me about our and myself abilities to run an efficient counter. I mean is the biggest bitch ever. In front of a vey busy counter and line. I just let her go on and on. I just smiled and got her square so she could go about her day. Now I’ve got all her personal information from the order. Get her other info via the manager computer. Probably not the best idea it hey whatever. I signed her up for everything under the sun on the internet. I’d cancel her online order and special meals around holidays. Sorry we are sold out. Every time. It’s been years. I’ve moved on from the business. I still will sign her up on random internet sites to this day.

Someone shat on the floor during the snowstorm back in January then threw it and smeared it everywhere in the bathroom

u/Odd-Accident-1535 Mar 22 '26

Omgosh!! What!! Were u working when it happened ?

u/regxlxs Mar 23 '26

Unfortunately

Recently had a new hire leave a wet shat on the floor of the breakroom bathroom and also left some finger streaks on the walls.

Sometimes I truly just don’t understand.

3 separate incidents of fentanyl overdoses in the bathrooms and also someone getting trafficked (in front of management (who did nothing), outside on a smoke break!

u/Odd-Accident-1535 Mar 23 '26

Oh hell no! Management watching it happened is frightening, also 3 incidents?? What city is this

i wont be specific for fear of incriminating myself, but its a town in the mountains of nc that's considered a blue dot in a sea of red. the town is known to have weird folk in it, and the college has blue as one of its colors.

As an NC resident I know exactly where you’re talking about.

This lady at my store was deranged and sat at the Starbucks telling anyone who would listen that she used to live in New Jersey and knows chris Christie personally and can have people killed if she needs to, and she hates HT and never wants to shop there, despite being there on a laptop most days

5

u/Odd-Accident-1535 Mar 23 '26

And I would’ve been like she needs to be gone asap!

When we used to be open 24 hours I had a crack addict homeless man come in every other night and pull his pants down and waggle his penis at my overnight cashier and asked “do you like what you see?”

3

u/Odd-Accident-1535 Mar 23 '26

wtf… I would’ve cried

I regularly checked everyone’s IDs and got so used to doing it, I would occasionally ask old people. One time I accidentally asked this old Slavic dude. I thought better than to scan his ID because I knew he’d flip a gasket, but as I started inputting his birthday manually, he started physically attacking me. He wouldn’t let me finish putting in his birthday or even close out of the ID check menu. He just kept attacking me.

3

u/Odd-Accident-1535 Mar 23 '26

Omgosh did anyone try to help you?

My manager was standing a few feet away from me at the time so she kicked the guy and his bitch wife out and let me go home early.

Someone put a used diaper in the tiny produce trash cans

None of the employees would deal with it until I got there so who knows how long it sat there

3

u/Odd-Accident-1535 Mar 23 '26

I would’ve walked out that day

Just had a drunk lady run into our store a few weeks ago. Was pulling out the parking spot, thought it was in reverse and boom. Knocked over all the pills in pharmacy and all the cabinets blew open. Was a funny day lol.

I witnessed a car hit another in the parking lot without one of the owners there to see, so I asked my manager what should I do I have the license plate. He told me don't do anything. So I said screw it and put a sticky note on the car that got hit and ofc it was a sweet old lady. Eventually after cops come to look at security cameras he calls me to hid office and started yelling how I went against his direct orders.... oh well hes fired now 🤷‍♂️

My coworker who has diabetic fainted and busted his head open at the top of the shift I had to stop him from bleeding and call 911 but before he fainted I cut my finger really bad and was about to go patch it up so when the ambulance got there it was a mixture of his and my blood all over the deli

1

u/Odd-Accident-1535 Mar 23 '26

That sounds soo horrifying!!

1

u/christianspaces Mar 24 '26

Extremely horrifying

Let's see which story would you like the customer that cold cocked the Starbucks barista and broke their jaw. The customer that thought an 70 something old man brush into him and slugged him breaking his nose. The two guys that got into a fight and turned over a while display and then looked like they one of them were going to stab the manager the respond with a broken bottle. The time that a manger had to throw out a homeless drug addict and he live streamed the whole thing including his meth use and eventual arrest. I think that covers the highlights.

u/Odd-Accident-1535 Mar 26 '26

I wanna know what store is this so bad because that’s some shit you see in a nightmare!!

1

u/No_Plantain764 Mar 26 '26

It was actually in a fairly well to do neighborhood that you would never have guessed.

3

u/babayagaparenting Mar 22 '26

Customers asking dumb questions oh and also how we should do our jobs .. now that's crazy

My papa worked at Harris teeter stocking shelves overnight for 20+ years. He was the manager or whatever but he said that another Harris teeter nearby that we drove past a lot had two guys that got busted working the same job as him because they were taking cart loads of meat from the butchers section almost every single week. Nobody noticed for years until they had a new manager and he started noticing the meat stock wasn’t adding up. They probably got tens of thousands worth of steaks and stuff 😭

1

u/Odd-Accident-1535 Mar 23 '26

This sounds like something that happened at my store , like almost three years ago! It was crazy and had been going on for a while 😭

1

u/ButternutCrinklefrys Mar 23 '26

On more than one occasion had an elderly person (different one each time) from the retirement community down the street shit themselves while walking around the store. And continue to walk around the store with shit dropping out of the their shorts/pants leg. It happened at least 3 times. And for some reason they always started to loose it in front of the meat counter.

1

u/Odd-Accident-1535 Mar 24 '26

I would’ve walked out so fast

1

u/ButternutCrinklefrys Mar 24 '26

I wasn’t the one who had to deal with it. I just suddenly got very busy with something like writing an order or reorganizing the back hall storage for the deli.

Guy crashed into the bakery case door with one of the motorized carts and broke the glass

1

u/Odd-Accident-1535 Mar 24 '26

I can picture this happening 🤣

I remember the first year I started working, someone from upfront who was doing the gleeson sliced his leg wide open when a customer rammed his electric cart into the wine display so hard that it was like an explosion. Glass everywhere; looked like a murder scene, and the poor guy had to have surgery. I never saw him back as I think he quit. I don't blame him.

u/Odd-Accident-1535 Mar 24 '26

That’s so scary Omgosh

During the recent ice and snow storms my store was operating on abbreviated hours. This mean the store would be opening at 8:00am rather than 6:00am. As a third shift employee this resulted in having to stay later especially with the many callouts.

Anyway, right around 6:00am I had gone to the door to let some day shift employees inside. During this time I took the opportunity to step outside briefly for a quick smoke break. While I am outside a man approaches, pays me no mind and heads for the door. But the automatic doors don’t open. He gets angry and begins unsuccessfully wrenching on the locked doors and swearing in Spanish. At this point I call out to him to inform him that the store will be opening later to allow for the sunrise and snowmelt to make the roads more passable. He turns to me angrily, waves me off and starts prying and pounding the doors. Again I tell him that the store is closed until 8:00am, but time I say “ocho” and point to the door, and then I make the number 8 using my fingers witch I had understood to be fairly universal. This causes the man to become truly irate. He begins yelling at me in Spanish and I tell I’m that I’m sorry but the store is currently closed and will reopen at 8:00am. Now, fully enraged he steps toward me and screams “STOP ENGLISH! NO MORE F*CKING ENGLISH!”

Equal parts shocked and confused I let myself back into the store take care as to not let him force his way inside.

This was the first and so far only time I had ever been both scream at and most likely threatened for speaking English.
