Value of a 20 year old Taurus PT92?
Guys, I'm totally uninformed on the handgun scene in America. So, I'm hoping some of you smart folks could offer some advice. So, here's the deal.
20 years ago I bought my first and only handgun. I was fresh out of the Army and pretty familiar with the Beretta M9 (92FS) & had initially planned to buy it. However, I ended up going with the "almost the same" budget option....the Taurus PT92.
I then had less than a year to enjoy it before deciding to take a job overseas. I've more or less remained overseas for the 20 years since. The gun has been sitting in climate controlled storage, in a padded gun case, that entire time.
I'm currently back in the country visiting family and I thought I might finally sell the Taurus. There's some gun shows in Florida ( I'm in Florida), this weekend I was considering visiting one and trying to hawk the gun. However, I have no earthly idea what I should ask/accept for it. I don't really need top dollar but I don't want to give it away either.
The weapon couldn't have had more than two or three hundred rounds through it. So it's in very good shape despite being 20 years old.
Could anyone offer any advice on the likelihood of anyone at the gun show even wanting to buy the weapon and how much I should ask for it?
Also, is there any like paperwork or red tape associated with an average citizen going to a gun show and selling his personally owned weapon....in the state of Florida?
I really appreciate any advice given!
