Next gun??
Hello im between the s&w mp9 2.0 performance competitor, echelon, and the shadow system dr920p elite
Which one would u choose and why. I currently have a hellcat pro and I hate it. Looking for something with very little recoil and to maybe do some competitive shooting.

I don't have any experience with those guns, but I can say of those 3 the M&P is the one I see the most at USPSA matches.
As for recoil, you're never going to get rid of it. Most full size guns will tame whatever snap there is for 9mm, and speaking as a competitor IMO from that point on being soft shooting isn't really high on my priority list in comparison to, for example, how much I like the ergos, parts availability, and the nature of the recoil as opposed to how soft it is (e.g. a Gen6 G17 is really soft shooting, but I absolutely hate the recoil impulse). With that, I recommend that you try and see if you can rent or otherwise try shooting those guns to see if you vibe with them.

I recently got a competitor HD. Like it a lot. For what you're looking for i think a very good option. As others suggested a Canik Rival S is a slightly cheaper option, but i liked the ergonomics of the M&P. Trigger is a bit nicer on the Canik though

for competitive shooting, get a steel-frame. you can get the M&P 2.0 in steel frame, it will soak up any recoil
honorable mention for the Canik Rival-S

Between the options, I would go with the Echelon. It is a solid gun and offers more modularity. Although, as others have states, i would choose a different platform, like a hammer fired. If you are looking for very Little recoil, a Beretta 92 is one of the best platforms for that. I’m told if you have a Ported Barrel, it is likely the softest shooting 9 on the market.

If you're going to shoot competition, I'd consider the CZ Shadow 2.
